No, it shouldn't if the synth is disconnected (or archived).
Try it yourself.

Archive the track. That's specifically what it's for.
It'll still load samples into ram.

Disconnect the synth from it's tracks

I don't know anything about that. Very possibly the reason. Is it suggested to have plugins and synths set to up-sample? I do have the odd 32 bit plugin floating around

Adjust your midi lookahead buffers and freeze some tracks

Do you have core parking turned off in Windows?

Get rid of the Generic Low Latency driver, uninstall it!
It's known to cause issues! -

We probably shouldn't get everybody excited about a feature that hasn't been released yet.
But yeah, that's a good one. Almost as good as the one listed after that one. Gonna make some people very happy.
Released already.

Select all tracks, go to where you want project to end and set from = now, set thru = end, delete special everything.

Split your simple instrument track to a midi and an audio track. Then you can insert the mfx on the midi track.

I have better luck with vst2, if a plug ever crashes on me, it's a vst3, not a vst2.

Because Realtek is not a formidable audio interface.

IMHO, the two best are Slate VTM and Softube Tape.

Use the Focusrite native driver and uninstall ASIO4ALL.

Let me say this instead:
Please, invent something diferent for gain control.
As a free daw there will be hundreds of thousands falling in to this trap, believing it would increase the volume of the weak audio input signal.
Of course they will get it by trial and error. But it is an unnecessary irritation.
It has been invented, it's called hardware. Hardware determines the input gain, it's part of the A/D conversion.

Yes it's ok, with the soft synths frozen, they are bounced to audio and do not require cpu cycles as unfrozen soft synth does.

Saving as a bundle is not recommended other than for sharing/collaborating. Id a bundle file gets corrupted, you lose the project and the audio files.
Save as a .cwp- 1

Thanks for your response, Gustabo. Can you elaborate on what you mean? I use project templates but I still need to disarm and rearm tracks for recording instead of just arming a track for recording.
Arm or disarm the tracks in your template as wanted and save the template.
If no tracks in your template, create a track, set arm or disarm as needed and save the track as default.
Lexicon Pantheon retrieved from Sonar 8, won't show up in Cakewalk?
