  1. Greetings... I have started doing a cleanup on my hard drives, getting rid of stuff that I’m no longer using, and would like to include a lot of vst and plugins that I don’t want anymore. I would also like to get all the rest of my vst instruments and plugins that I’m keeping more organized, putting them in one or two folders which would put them all together instead of them residing all over my drives. Could someone show how I would do this so that it won't cause havoc within Cakewalk? It would sure be appreciated... thanks in advance.
  2. Studio One + $179.00 per year gives you Studio One 6.5 Pro and the use of every VST instrument and effects plugin they have. I don't know how much the new Sonar is going to cost when I have to pay for it but I've seen from estimates predicted here that it's going to be anywhere from $300 - $500 for a one time purchase. BUT... what is it going to include? Good thing is, if I really don't like Studio One + I have the option to cancel before renewing and then come back and get the new Sonar. (but from what I've seen so far, that's not going to happen.)
  3. OK... here's a stupid question. I somehow changed my start screen to where it shows my projects in a list instead of the default boxes. How can I change it back again? Thanks so much in advance for your patients... much appreciated.
  4. I am using a 10 year old core i7 37.xx gig cpu I have 3 drives, one I use exclusively for my music software Last year I did some major upgrades. Had my C: drive cloned onto an SSD drive. I had my music drive cloned onto an SSD drive. I I now have 32 gig of RAM. It now runs lightning fast and I've never really had any crashes, even using lots of plugins and vst's. I guess at some point down the road I will upgrade my motherboard and cpu but as of now there's really no need for me to do that. I had my computer guru at my local computer shop do the clones for me as I'm really not very tech savvy. I forgot to mention that the 3rd drive is used for backup and storage and isn't an SSD which really isn't necessary seeing as what it is being used for.
  5. Hi John... I watched your video on this about 6 times before I got it to work. I have a good memory but it just doesn't last very long. Thanks so much!!!
  6. Thanks for this... problem solved. I never would have found this on my own as I didn't know what I was looking for or what it was called - (scroll lock) I looked the term up in the manual and learned how to turn scroll lock off. For the life of me, I am really wondering how I managed to turn it on. Oh well... it's back to working as it should again.
  7. Thanks so much for the info guys!!! So much appreciated. John... I'll have a go with your idea tomorrow. Make a backup you say? By the time I finish a project there are 3 or 4 backups. Sorry for taking so long in getting back to you. I didn't have the "notify me of replies" turned on and haven't been on the forum very much Much appreciated
  8. Hi all... I hit something today that made my tracks stop scrolling when they're playing. The cursor goes off the screen moving right but the tracks don't move with it. Is there a setting that will get it back to normal? Thanks in advance
  9. Greetings all... There's another DAW that I play around with. This lasts no more than 2 days before I come back to CbB. I've been using Cakewalk/Sonar since version 3 so it's very hard to move away from it, and most likely I'll never change to any other DAW. There was one feature that I really liked with the other DAW. I can slow down or speed up the song's tempo and the audio tracks don't change their sound... they sound exactly the same as they do at the original tempo only slower or faster - whatever speed I change the temp to. Is there a way I can do this in CW? Thanks so much in advance
  10. Thanks for the comeback... much appreciated. What I was trying was to see if I could break up an mp3 from one of those karaoke sites that a friend suggested. Keep in mind that there's no way that I'm gonna be using them any time soon. I was able to download the one song I got one track at a time and it worked out ok. But that's as far as this experiment is going to go. When I transposed it to my key it sounded like crap. Nope going to keep doing my tracks in Cakewalk
  11. Thanks for the comeback... much appreciated. I really didn't think it could be done but I thought I'd try anyway...
  12. Greetings... This may be a stupid question - please forgive this old newb. Is it possible to convert someone else's MP3 file into separate wav tracks in CbB? I don't know if I'm explaining myself properly... I'd like to restore the MP3 back to where it was before it was rendered into an MP3 - putting each instrument back on it's own audio track. Thanks for your patience... much appreciated.
  13. Greetings all... Somehow I changed my time ruler format to where it shoes M:B:T and H:M:S:F which is making the display too small for these old eyes. I've done the right click on the time ruler to get the option to change it. They are both checked. I try to uncheck the H:M:S:F box but nothing changes. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance...
  14. Had my main drive cloned to a new SSD. Also bought another SSD to be used exclusively for all my music software. I did a deep removal of my IK stuff with IObit removal tool. (free for a limited number of uses) Then used IK Product Manager to download and install all of my IK stuff on my new music only drive. Everything works as it should. So yes, a complete uninstall / reinstall would probably be your best bet. (but that's just my own humble opinion )
  15. Actually John... I copied and pasted the link to your video and certainly learned a LOT more about using Melodyne - AND Cakewalk. Before this I really had no idea what a "clip" was or what it was for. The way I was using Cakewalk I didn't need them. I have so much more to learn. Sure is good to know that you and this group are here to answer some of my dumb questions. Mebbe you could save me some time from going to the CbB manual to find the hot key for "split" Thanks again.
  16. Yes!!! Thanks to you guys I have now found how to what what I was trying to do. I found the "Create Region FX + Melodyne + Create Regional FX" procedure after reading John's post. As for the "Render" tip he gave me, I couldn't find anything related to "Render" in any of the drop boxes in Cakewalk. But after reading Bitflipper's response I realize that it is also called "bounce." Looks like I'm all ready to now thanks to your help... Lots of frustration on the decline now!!! Very much appreciated.
  17. Hi John... thanks for the reply. I am using Melodyne as an effects plugin in CbB. I'm not sure what you mean - or how to render the clip after my edits. I don't know if I mentioned it but I'm a total newb who is using Melodyne for only the second time. The first time went great. I thought the second time was going to be the same until I discovered that the track I worked on in the first song was still in Melodyne when I started using it in a new song for the second time. And I don't know how to get rid of it. I guess I'm looking for something like, "File + New project" in Melodyne.
  18. Greetings all... I'm a complete newb who's trying to use Melodyne in my CbB projects. I used it for the first time with great success in one of my projects. So it was on to the next project. When I loaded up the Melodyne plugin - Melodyne 5 Essential - into the new project the track from the previous project loaded up in it. I reached out on Facebook to see if I could get any answers and one fine gentleman had me go into the first project and bounce the track using Melodyne onto a new track. This I did and once done I deleted the original track. I then went into the new track - lo and behold - it worked!!! I proceeded to start editing my new track with Melodyne and everything was going great. I was about halfway through the song and decided to take a break. I saved my song and shut down Melodyne and Cakewalk. When I came back I reopened Cakewalk and reopened the Melodyne plugin to continue working where I left off on the track. I was shocked when I saw that the track from the previous project was back in the Melodyne plugin again. Of course I can't redo the "bounce" thing in the first project as it is already done. I am at a total loss as to what to do. I guess my question is, is there a way to clear the first project track out of the Melodyne plugin so that I can use it on the new project? If not, there has to be a way to be able to use it. I just don't know where or how to do it. Hopefully one of you experts here can help me out. This would be so much appreciated.
  19. The day after I posted this I found out that I was wrong about Komplete Select having the full version of Kontakt 7 included with it I found out that that's not the case. In fact, it comes with Kontakt player. The salesperson kind of led me to believe that it came with the full version. So, I was out over $200 in Canadian dollars and had to spend over $400 to get the full version. But it really was my own fault for not doing my homework before buying it.
  20. I know what you mean about all the "K" stuff. Keep in mind that I didn't have a clue and put all my faith in my sales rep. I found 3 libraries by Indiginus that I just HAD to have. Their site said that I would need a paid version of Kontakt in order to use them. So I went shopping for Kontakt. Sales guy pointed out an open box version of Kontakt 13 Select package for $179 US dollars. I live in Canada and have to pay the exchange rate, tax and $48 duty. Total cost was north of $250 I installed it only to find out that it was Kontakt 6 PLAYER. I needed the full version of Kontakt in order to use the plugins I wanted. Long story short; Another $400 plus and I now have the full version Kontakt 7. Of course I didn't buy it from the same store. I got it directly from NI and was even able to pay for it in Canadian money. It came bundled with a few libraries that I'll never use... oh well... at least I have it now. This expensive experience can be chalked up to being my own fault because I didn't do enough research. But I can say that I know what all those "k"s mean now. I also noticed that Indiginus have now made it very clear what is needed to use their libraries on their site... in big bold font.
  21. Of course you mean "Kontakt" lenses... Please don't kick me off the forum
  22. To the OP... I just bought Kontakt Komplete 13 Select from Sweetwater this week. It is an "open box demo" so I only paid $179 for it. Kontakt 6 and Kontakt 7 are included in the bundle. In fact, they come with any of their Komplete packages... so I was told by their tech.
  23. Thanks for this, Eric... very much appreciated for sure. I have to say that I have never gotten to the point where I've noticed dropouts in anything I've done. I'm a very simple creator and have never had any problems. At the most I'm only using 5 or 6 virtual instruments within my songs. Now, at least, I know what to look for and what to do if ever I do start having any trouble.
  24. You're so right, Michael. I'm also guilty of this. For the very most part Cakewalk has been extremely stable for me. If there are any problems it is probably caused by something I've done. (I'm still a newb)
