  1. They've been having system issues & there's quite a few complaints about it. It was suggested to re-subscribe to their newsletter again. Good luck!
  2. That pic sure brings back memories! I used nothing but those Markleys for years. I still have a road trunk completely covered with those yellow stickers that I plastered all over it every time I changed a set. Back then it once a week, plus top three every other night or so playing 6 nights a week, 5 hours a night, typically 48 weeks a year. Tore through alot of wire too, replaced all my guitars with SS. Now playing casually I've been using d'addario prosteels, they work pretty well for me. As you say though the quality has changed throughout the years.
  3. I tried a few sets on several different guitars, 9's & 10's. I didn't like the gritty feel & they chew through fret wire faster than others. Of course if you're tracking in the studio & they sound good I'd say go for it. My favs were FireWire strings but they're no longer in business. They sounded & felt great plus lasted longer than any of the other brands I've tried.

  7. I just tried it & I got the 'render bypass' pop-up.
  8. I mainly use it on instruments replacing dynamic EQ. Instead of say cutting problematic freqs. with a dynamic eq dialing in those frequencies, soothe deducts it on general parameters based on many freqs. It can be used on most anything- strings, vocals, guitars, horns, harshness, de-essing.. It can be tricky at first & easily overused. I'll generally use small, modest adjustments. At retail I'd say it's a bit pricey, I got it on sale for $100.00 but I tend to use it more than the others I have (Ozone, FabFilter, Melda, Waves) when that type of tool is needed. Here's more detailed info- http://soundbytesmag.net/review-soothe-oeksound/ If you're looking for something like this for your mixes Sound Theory is releasing a Windows version of Gullfoss soon ( $99.00) which might be suited for your needs. https://www.soundtheory.com/home
  9. introducing iLok Cloud authorisation for the following Sonnox products: • Oxford Elite range (EQ, Dynamics, Inflator, Limiter, Reverb, TransMod, SuprEsser and SuprEsser DS) • Oxford Dynamic EQ • Oxford Envolution • Toolbox VoxDoubler 1. What is iLok Cloud? iLok Cloud authorisation offers an alternative activation location for Sonnox licences. For the first time, Oxford Plug-Ins can be used without a physical iLok USB device. Cloud authorisation will allow you to use any of your supported Native or HDX Plug-Ins with just a free iLok account and an active internet connection. 2. Do I have 2 activations now? If you’re a new or current owner of the Generation 5 (G5) Sonnox products listed above you’ll receive an additional activation for each of those licences. You can choose whether to authorise this extra activation using iLok Cloud or another physical iLok USB device. You can find out more here. Meaning that you’re now able to run a Cloud session on one system whilst leaving your existing iLok device to authorise a second. As a consequence, trying or buying these Sonnox products has never been simpler or more flexible! 3. How much does it cost? iLok Cloud is a free update for existing Generation 5 (G5) licence owners. 4. Do I already own qualifying G5 products? If you own any of the qualifying products above, but you’re not sure if you’re running the latest version, just log in to your mySonnox portal - this will list all of your current licences and upgrade options. If you only own G4 or older, you will need to upgrade each Plug-In to G5 before you can use iLok Cloud authorisation. 5. How do I use iLok Cloud authorisation and access my extra activation? You need to install the newest version of your Plug-Ins. You can download their installers from your mySonnox portal. If you need more help, please read How to use Cloud authorisation for instructions, videos and guidance. 6. Exclusions Waves Soundgrid products will not support iLok Cloud authorisation at this time. We plan to add this support as soon as we’re able. There are no current plans to enable iLok Cloud authorisation for Sonnox Oxford Restore, Pro-Codec and Codec Toolbox products. https://www.sonnox.com/
  10. free update- Major GUI rewrite for soothe released Optimisations and usability This is a major rewrite for soothe, encompassing everything under the hood from parameter management to graphical user interface, but retaining the same audio processing and full session compatibility. The update brings in optimisations, resizeable GUI, and better overall usability. We've received a lot of very helpful user feedback, and tried to incorporate as much of it as possible to this update. Changelog for 1.3.0: Major GUI Update Resizable GUI size to accommodate different screen sizes Optimised drawing for better performance Graph scale (grid) is more intuitive Added contrast to graph font Improved EQ node controls Multiselectable nodes Modifier keys for finer adjustments Scroll wheel changes bandwidth Tweaks for easier node selection when two or more nodes overlap Bandwidths are colour filled for better visibility EQ curve calculations optimised to reduce CPU spikes A/B states to compare two settings Added Preset Menu keyboard navigation and selection history Tooltip disabling option in settings page Fixed preset file actions for MacOS' sandboxed apps Minor bug fixes Mac: https://oeksound.ams3.digitaloceanspaces.com/soothe_v130_Mac.dmg Windows: https://oeksound.ams3.digitaloceanspaces.com/soothe_v130_Win.zip The update is free for all existing users of soothe. The updated version requires the license to be migrated over to the iLok License Manager (if you haven't already). This a tough topic, but since introducing iLok, the amount of show-stopping problems regarding the license management has dropped significantly. We'll continue keeping our legacy license management system available for those of you still rocking the pre 1.2.0 versions. oeksound
  11. After extensive bug-squashing Reference 4.2 is ready for you to use! This time we’ve finally addressed the age-old issue of having to remember to switch-off the plug-in when rendering. Here's what's new: A notification added in several DAWs that reminds users to turn off calibration when rendering is detected Output device changes for Systemwide handled more consistently, remembers the choice you make about which devices to calibrate and what volume is preferred Various visual UI improvements You can see the full list of changes HERE There is a number of DAW’s which don’t communicate that they’re rendering a project, which is why we can’t cover everyone. Contact their developers and ask for this feature, we’re pretty sure that other plug-in companies would be able to do interesting with it as well. As always download the latest version HERE

Early access pricing - €189 €129 - Save over 30% Amber3 VST/AAX/AU plugin suite offers an accurate reproduction of an original, pure Class A optical compressor - a redesigned iconic EQ and preamp by a celebrated US company. In designing Amber3, we aimed at achieving total sound purity and depth, achieved through the use of Class-A discrete solid-state circuitry, as well as a thoughtful mixture of active and passive filter cells, absence of any DC-blocking capacitors on the signal path and more. We then squeezed all the sampled units into a high-performance channel-strip for your own earvana. http://www.acustica-audio.com/store/products/amber Amber3 includes: Amber3 EQ (Equalizer standalone module) - a Pure Class-A musical equalizer, designed to deliver sonic excellence. Today it could be ranked as one of the most powerful, low-noise parametric EQs available in the digital domain. Amber3 Stereo EQ (Stereo Equalizer standalone module) - a Pure 100% discrete Class-A Stereo EQ, characterized by an ultra-realistic design, optimized for absolute signal integrity. It can be considered one of the most musically transparent analog EQ ever created. Amber3 Comp (Compressor standalone module) - Class A opto-compressor: a very transparent, dynamic processor designed to deliver utmost musical performance. Amber3 Pre (Preamps standalone module) - fully discrete, Class A microphone preamplifier standalone plugin. Amber3 Channel-strip - one of the most complete and versatile channel strips we have ever designed, comprising all the previous plugins and squeezing all their power into a single, mix-ready processor. Amber3 Channel-strip is ideal for both mastering and mixing studios; Each plug-in included in the Amber3 suite comes in a “Standard” version and an alternative “ZL*” version which operates at *zero latency and is thus suitable for use when tracking, at the cost of extra processing resources.
  18. I hope you're not disappointed. I won't be downloading the main Epic O. & don't need a Taiko. I might try the effects. I was also disappointed in the failed Synchron Stage/ MIRx release as well. I think that was announced over a year ago. All in all this is a rather odd release strategy.
  19. Interesting backstory, the fact that he did some research & found it's provenance would increase the value if he decides to sell it or put it up for auction. The purpose of rattlesnake tail was new to me.
