  1. Thanks Wookiee. I am happy with the groove on this one😀 To my ears the percussion and basses fit together really well🎶🎶🎶🎶
  2. Thanks for the listen. I used two basses both tuned via my trusty snark+ tuner. One bass was played in standard positions, the other an octave up the neck, then mixed them together throughout the piece at various volumes. The thin bass sound is good hearing on your part as I recorded the basses via direct injection without any VST added (amps, cabinets or bass models), just used EQ'ing, auxiliary tracks and mixing the two octaves together to create a fatter tone/effect🎶🎶🎶🎶
  3. Thanks mark, appreciate the listen and comments. Yes, I did two basses, one playing regular positions, the other playing higher up the neck an octave higher. I mixed them together in various volumes throughout the piece varying from no mix at all to various levels creating a wider and fatter tone as I thought befitted the section they were being heard🎶🎶🎶🎶
  4. Thanks, really appreciate the listen and comments. I wasn't really aiming for this piece to be a song with a hook, intro, outro. I see this as a songscape, a combination of a song and a soundscape at this time. I do think it could evolve into the classic song format, though, with more work🎶🎶🎶🎶
  5. Hi All. Here is the latest piece called "Savanna at Night". All comments, questions and critiques appreciated🎶🎶🎶🎶 link: https://larryterrano.bandcamp.com/track/savanna-at-night DAW: Cakewalk by Bandlab pc: windows 10, i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz, 8GB ram, live acoustic guitar, live electric guitar, direct injected basses, arturia minilab mkII, arturia analog lab 5 lite, SI Drums by CbB effects reference speakers: M-Audio BX3
  6. Excellent. The rhythm/percussion and guitar loops are killer. They fit like a glove. I'd trim around a minute by shortening a verse a two for higher impact and to help maintain the high energy🎶🎶🎶🎶

Excellent, as usual. Music is great, seemed like a mixture of sadness and strength. The video, to me, had parts that seemed to convey the confusion that Alzheimer's creates. Hope modern medicine can discover a cure in the immediate future🎶🎶🎶🎶
  8. Thanks Bjorn. If I get some free time I'll look up how to increase tempo in CbB. I like the languidness of it but agree that a more up tempo version would be worth the time it takes to do it to hear the difference in mood and feel🎶🎶🎶🎶

    Memories

Really nice work, as usual. I kept waiting for some acoustic or nylon string guitar to appear which I think would add another dimension to the song. Maybe talk with Mark about?? But, the song is nice as is, understated and stylish in a contemporary way🎶🎶🎶🎶
  10. Never heard the original, listened to yours first, then Roger's version, then yours again. Naturally, Roger's has all the seventies easy listening production bells and whistles and does the song justice. imho, I think your version is the superior one. Your arrangement is basically the same but your quality of instrumentation, recording, mixing and vocal work hits home to me more than Roger's version. Great work🎶🎶🎶🎶
  11. Opens quietly and steadily draws the listener in as everything moves forward calmly and smoothly but with a touch of melancholy. Excellent work🎶🎶🎶🎶
  12. Never got into the Dead for some reason....listened to the original for first time before listening to your version....original blew me away, then, listened to your version which also blew me away....your work on the song is excellent. Playing, vox, mix all hit the right notes🎶🎶🎶🎶
  13. Thanks Peter🎶🎶🎶🎶

This collaboration came out great. Has a really nice sense of different musicians contributing different musical elements. You guys move from various tempos and styles effortlessly yet somehow manage to hold it all together perfectly. Nice chill outro🎶🎶🎶🎶
  15. Excellent from both creative and engineering perspectives. I think this is the best mix you've done so far. All instruments sound clear and really well balanced (maybe bring the bass up a dB or so). Sophisticated changes, relentless pacing, quick rhythmic shifts, stabbing melodies are all excellent elements to create the mood shifts and tension you mentioned. This must have been a huge job to mix but the results sound great. Reminds me of some of the Bowie/Eno tracks from Low and "Heroes" but with a harder edge🎶🎶🎶🎶
  16. Enjoyed that, relaxing, mellow and easy on the ears. Really nice guitar and sax work🎶🎶🎶🎶
  17. Not bad at all at this point. Reminded me of Faith No More's ground breaking "Epic". Good stuff🎶🎶🎶🎶
  18. Thanks so much Nigel. Appreciate the kind words🎶🎶🎶🎶
  19. Agree with above observations🎶🎶🎶🎶
  20. Sounds better, I'd cut the verb back here and there, maybe a bit more polish here and there (get sound levels optimized, carve out some EQ on instruments for clarity) but really cool song, I dig it I can hear this on the radio easily🎶🎶🎶🎶
  21. Thanks so much. The piano timing is probably me trying to do syncopation on a piano roll🎶🎶🎶🎶
  22. Nice ideas in that there noodle. The rhythm guitar is perfect but could be a bit clearer imho, overall I can hear this being a nice intro to more of a song🎶🎶🎶🎶
