  1. Good choice, I love my Rokit 5's. Durable too, had them over 7 years now and never one problem.
  2. Is there a good reason you are freezing midi tracks ? Are you low on CPU ? The shift you are seeing is due to the way your soundcard Freezes/bounces data. In other words, its Latency. Unless you have a decent soundcard, freezing and unfreezing is going to be slightly off and not practical..
  3. I also like this idea. It does kind of water down the seasoned composer a bit, but it would be fun to use and also like you said, bridge the gap between novice and pro. Bring in more new users.
  4. Fair enough. Which plug in are you using ?
  5. I simply gave my opinion just like you did. Shouldn't we all be entitled to our own opinions ? Or is it only you who should only be entitled to an opinion ? Oh now I see, we aren't entitled to our opinions.
  6. This review was a bit bizarre for me. He first reported there were no Track templates or project templates. That was soon edited from his review once someone called him out on it in the comments. He also suggested that Traktion is a better choice for a free DAW. That is almost laughable. Sure im partial because I use Cakewalk but I sure as hell wouldn't do a review on Pro Tools if I knew nothing about it.
  7. I can understand ones curiosity, but does it really matter ? What are we planning for ? I hope this doesn't sound a slight or me being ignorant, I just don't see how it matters ? Bandlab has delivered on its promise (for over a year now) to make Cakewalk free. That's good enough for me.
  8. I believe the numbers are based on REC Takes. Each time you hit the record button to record an audio track, Cakewalk adds a number to the name. This helps identify the Audio clips location within the sequence of a track. For example you may have one track with 10 audio clips in it. Thus- Kick drum.1 / Kick drum.2 / Kick drum.3
  9. Great answers above. Personally I would make a copy (just to retain the original). 1- Open the project 2- Select all audio clips (CNTRL+A) 3- Right click on any Audio track and choose "Bounce to clips" (Essentially like Apply trimming). 4- Use the "Save as" or use the Clean Audio folder. This will reduce edits, slip edits, unused punch ins, exc to consolidate the projects size. This is what most of us call "House keeping".
  10. They're not bad. I own a set of those and a set of KRK's I use during mixing. The TRUTH B2031 aren't that bad, the M Audio ones though are prone to problems and just sound like garbage. My friend had a pair of the TRUTH B2031 hanging around and leant them to me while I was in transition. They weren't bad. They were almost on par with the LSR308's
  11. hmm man I got nothing. I tried it out but couldn't reproduce. Totally here what your saying though about the splits causing havoc. Have you tried Drag and click using the smart tool to make selections ?
  12. For hand limiting I use volume automation. After a million times, you know what to look for (tight little zippers). I haven't had the zooming issues you speak of though. Is it possible a screen resolution zoom you have in your GPU settings ?
  13. I would also suggest trying out Bandlab. However if your running Sonar 8.5 there's a good chance your using an older OS. Sonar 8.5 was released for Windows XP. Bandlab wont run on that.
  14. Do you have external speakers ? or are you trying to use Windows PC speakers ?
  15. have you tried expanding the track area ? This can sometimes lead to problems with modules, track widgets, exc from being seen properly when the track area is too small. Hover your mouse over the area that splits the track area from the clips area, your mouse pointer should turn into a double sided arrow. Click and drag left.
  16. Yup, just what Craig said. I have several sub folders in one main folder in C/Cakewalk Content. You can also drag these loops to windows explorer which is what I sometimes do if I need to rename, edit the files.
  17. do you use any custom Lenses or Screensets ? That would be my first guess anyway.
  18. I use the "Tap Tempo" button and tap out the beat. it displays the in the tempo box (as can be seen below). I've tried it several different ways like drawing it in, drag to timeline, exc. I just use what works for me. It can be difficult to find the flow of a tempo for a song that was recorded without a tempo. Verses can be one BPM, the Chorus can get faster. I go through each part planning the changes, mapping them out and if needed, writing it down for use in a whole new project.
  19. That would be latency. Bandlab by Cakewalk uses the Soundcards buffer size for offline rendering (fast bounce, freezing) Make sure your Audio interface buffer size is not too low. On a side note ( Not the same thing as your Midi buffer size). Are you running in ASIO ? Im almost positive your Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 uses an ASIO Driver. Try increasing this. You should be able to open your Focusrite Saffire MixControl screen and change it there.
  20. This sounds like a classic case of midi buffers needing to be boosted. I would change it to 500 and see if that helps.
  21. I tend to stay away from giving songwriting advice. I will help/assist with the engineering process and I'll even go as far as giving my opinion (which doesn't always go over that well) But Its hard to tell someone, "you shouldn't do this or do that". The artists who have gone on to become very successful are the ones who dared to be different. I learned a lot about songwriting from listening to the Beatles. Their earlier albums were classic pop blueprints. But when you look at what they did on Sgt. Peppers, They threw out the classic pop song mold and created bizarre arrangements. Some would consider this an instant fail. It turned out to be genius.
  22. Do most people use Staff view for drums ? I use PRV. Very simple to change velocity. Have you tried changing velocity's in PRV to see if the same hang happens ?
  23. I personally would love to see some enhancements on Lyric view. I tried it a few times but it was difficult to understand. A font enlarger with ease would be nice and a way to add a line with a midi note (to accompany a lyric line) with ease would also be helpful.
