  1. @scook has not logged on to the forum since last September. I hope he is well as he’s been a part of my Forum life for a long long time. I learned more from him ( and @msmcleodthan anyone else here. If you go through my playlist starting with this one I have about 6 tutorials on using VST instruments you might want to start your own thread if you have further questions as it’s confusing to start helping a different person mid thread
  2. The Op hasn’t been on the forum for 2 years. They have a few threads they started and abandoned.
  3. As I say in the video, You are using the Mix recall from song 1 but all of a sudden at song 6 you get a better mix happening, you save song 6 as a mix recall and go back and apply that to mix 1. I'm not dead sure what happens if a track is missing. Would be easy to test. Tracks can be empty and hidden. The new Sonar has enhanced the Track manager to allow recalling track layouts based on custom pre sets. This will be a huge timesaver for people like you. Hide every thing but the strings! Then toggle back to the whole show with one click. Say what you will about Cakewalk ? Sonar. If you dig in deep it can do some pretty cool stuff.
  4. That’s right. You have to name a track before you record. Any name changes after a track is recorded are not reflected in the audio folder The way to clean up a project is to use “Save As” and check copy audio with project and put it in a new location. Only the audio used in the current version will be copied to the new location.
  5. This is definitely a job for mix recall . I use all the time for live recordings. It works perfectly if each project has the identical track layout. So a live recording is just that. But they can be 1 hour to 3 hours of material. So you might have 3 45 minute projects. Each has 12 songs. Get song 1 sounding good and save as a mix recall scene. Now you can apply that scene to the other projects or songs . All your settings and effects will be superimposed on the other projects. I think it’s covered in this video https://youtu.be/o18_HZgfGp0?si=hYnnp8Z6vJlc2qtk
  6. I didn't run into the bugs until I got to my 4th video on Audio editing. I'm actually still stuck there because of that. I can't make a video that includes demonstrating something that is broken. And I was being very supportive and positive because they put a lot of work into creating this software and I'm sure it will just take time to be fully baked. You can go watch my videos here in the tutorial sub forum. I re posted a few days ago now that we are in the clear.
  7. I had made a couple of these back in November but was asked to remove them until Next was released. So I touched them up a little and re posted them. Not sure when I’ll have time for more and I can’t finish Part3 until the major bug in the Punch in Recording is fixed.
  8. You can tell he must have spent a lot of time preparing for this video as we still don’t have a owners manual so you have to figure stuff out on your own. He demonstrated a bunch of stuff I hadn’t figured out or stumbled upon yet. It’s good Mike is back on board with us.
  9. The reason I say that is when I first signed up I was reading the posts and a lot of them were obviously from people who had no clue about DAWS. Questions like what is this thing? How do you make beats? I don’t understand what this does? And so on. So it seems to me they were just giving anyone access. Are you referring to the 21,000 members that show as being part of the Next beta testing? then within 10 minutes of using the program I ran into issues not covered in the very sparse users manual. I found 4 bugs that day but found out you could only post 1 bug report every Hour?? I never got any response from them until I posted something here and I guess that got someone’s attention! That’s when I was told to not post the tutorials I was working on. As far as I can tell they didn’t fix my reported bugs.
  10. For me there was never a follow up all I got was the acknowledgement that my application was submitted. Which proved they had my email address working. but that's all water under the bridge and not sure why people are still talking about it? In a way I'm not sure I would have contributed much as I rarely bump into what are known as bugs.
  11. Well I made this video. I once again logged on to Discord and there is no way to get at the Next server or what ever it's called. I got an invite from @orcmid and yesterday that got me signed in on my phone under Cactus. I never chose that name but I think it came from a log in from my Laptop which I'm logged into Bandlab with. But I did all my posting under John Vere. So I log in with that and I found a PM from them again. Note the name is Cakewalk Next. But when I click on the link I got this. So I tried a direct search and I get this SO you can see why it's pretty frustrating to attempt to help these people out. It will be a huge hassle to post the video from my phone. So I'm posting it here as a private video. the link will expire in 2 days. https://youtu.be/jiPKEcR1EKk This is all the time I have for this.
  12. Thanks, I’m not crazy. It is a huge flaw that I guess hasn’t been noticed because I guess the majority of Next testing is all Creating and not playing guitar. But I definitely posted it on Discord back in December I think. I’ll screen capture it later today. I think they made a huge mistake indiscriminately making the Beta testing 100% public. I would have been more than happy to test it more if they used a smaller group and we communicated in in a private forum. I just couldn’t follow using Discord. It’s like trying to help people on Facebook. The signal to noise ratio is unbearable. So I abandoned it a few months ago and have only been using the Stem separation tool.
  13. Yes thanks I thought I PMd you back but it was late at night and I was out of town all day yesterday. Anyhow I got in to Discord but weirdly it is under Cactus and not John. But once I sort this out I’ll post it in the Bug bin
  14. You missed my point. Rental can give you a steady cash flow that can result in a higher profit. It is more importantly solid information for share holders. Predicting cash sales isn’t. Do you actually think business make money by selling stuff?? No they make money trading shares. I’ve said it before, give this company credit for being on top of modern business models and marketing schemes. This is good news for us as it’s the exact opposite of how Gibson ran things. We hopefully won’t be going bankrupt any time soon. I get a huge kick out of the people who think they are making a big mistake. Have you bought your shares in Bandlab yet?
  15. There’s possibly 6 threads on the topic and I made a video that explains how to activate it. Holy cow I just noticed this video now has 1.7 K views! Most of my videos are doing good if they have 500 views after a year. Guess Sonar is a hot topic.
  16. Guy walking trough a Saturday afternoon Farmers Market sees an artist painting a picture and stops to ask him about it. “I like your painting is it for sale? “ “No I’m not finished yet. “ “Ok but when it’s finished how much will it cost?” “ I don’t know until it’s finished . And I’m thinking I might rent this one in the Gallery art rental program. I can sometimes make a nice steady income from that.” “But I don’t want to rent it, I prefer to buy it from you, but only if I like the price.” “Ahh, see you already are offering me less money than it’s worth and haven’t even told you what I think that is?” This is why I think I’m better off renting it. That way more people will enjoy my painting and I’ll have a monthly income for a long time. If I sell it to you when it’s finished, you will want a bargain and I’ll be sad and probably spend that money all at once in the bar. I’ll have no money later on.” The man walked away and bought a ugly framed print from WalMart. He didn’t like the ugly cheap painting very much but he was proud because he owed it outright.
  17. I wasn’t arguing I was just trying to explain international trade. @Milton Sica does bring up a sad truth about what will happen to many people that started relying on the free version. I can tell by the names of my subscribers just how global Cakewalk has become. As we all know a huge population of this planet live in absolute poverty. But big business is big business and so these people in a way will be victims of a marketing strategy that has now become very apparent. They will be cut off with only choice being something like Audacity. This has given me an idea! Hmm. As a note I logged into the Next Discord chat room and all of a sudden some of those people are wondering why they are being asked to activate. Seems the beta testing of Next has also ended. Anyhow if you were only interested in Next and not Sonar then $15 a month is a little steep. I rate Next as being worth around $50 -$100 based on its simplicity. Not based on quality, just features.
  18. @Milton Sica Not sure what you are saying as we are a global community as well as most people these days purchase items directly from many countries. I live on the border and Washington USA is 10 minutes from my house. So we often even go grocery shopping there. But over the years we keep a close eye on the exchange rate. We have always looked at prices and had to calculate that into the cost. Right now is pretty bad as Canadian dollar is down to $.73 so if I see an item for $1. it is as actually costing me approximately $1.27. It is entirely up to your chosen payment method what you will be charged as an exchange rate. And many credit cards also add on a fee for foreign transactions. We found a card that doesn’t. This saves us 1.4 %. So pricing is based on US dollars for Bandlab and it is not up to them to offer different prices for different currencies. That’s not how things work. I just bought a plug in from Germany so it was listed in Euros. That’s even more @ a $1.48 Can right now. Im not sure why people are going on and on about the pricing? Is that the only reason people liked Cakewalk was because it was free? That’s not why I use it. I used it because it’s still the one I like the most. So to me it’s simple. If you like it you buy it, if you don’t like it then please stop thinking about what it will cost. Move on.
  19. Yes there is a new version that is the only one that works. If you need you password reset you contact cakewalk support. They have been very good about this. I made a suggestion to ask if all our legacy products could somehow be moved to the new Cakewalk Product Center.
  20. Yes it is definitely not what is played during the punch. Back in November when I first noticed it I inserted a second empty track and put it in record and you could clearly see the timing issue Tomorrow I will screen capture it. I figure if it really is a bug there had to be a lot of people noticing it.
  21. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong as it really should not be this hard to do? It’s like it’s a audio buffer latency issue.
  22. Thanks. But where? And still. Why doesn’t Next server show in the search? I haven’t logged in for about a month. It sent me a log in security access code? That was new.
