  1. If you undock the multi dock and drag it to the bottom the blue highlight bar will first go between the Inspector to the browser but if you drag it further down it covers the whole screen. Once you have it the way you like it save this as a workspace and it will become the default.
  2. I have Rapture. It was in CCC. My version of CCC must have been outdated because it wouldn't run. I had to do some digging as we are aware the Cakewalk web site pages are sort of a mess right now. But I hacked my way to the download and installed it. Notice it installs a Visual C+ add on which could explain someone having issues if they didn't. But I had no issues and I ran Cakewalk as Admin and entered my serial number and registration and it seems to work just fine. I think it uses the same library as Dim Pro so I don't bother installing it and I just use Dim Pro. I made a TXT document a long time ago with all my serial numbers only a fool would loose track of stuff like that, it's worth a lot of money and one day there may not be any servers to rely on anymore.
  3. I just upgraded a Samsung 240 GB OS drive for a 500 GB that cost me $50. Samsung has an app called the Magician that cloned the drive in 20 minutes. You are asking for trouble by installing software on other drives.
  4. To merge midi I simply drag and drop the one clip onto the other in the track pane. Holding shift will maintain its position in time and holding CTRL will copy the data and leave the original we’re it was.
  5. I’ve owned the same monitors for a longtime and those monitors have been in possibly 20 different spaces. Most were less than ideal many were horrible. But I’m sitting 3’ away and I use a lower volume level for critical listening. The Lower the volume the less the room will interfere with the sound you hear. That is why they call them near field monitors. A lot of the focus on room treatment being critical is mostly only true for soffit speakers which are 6’ to 12’ away from you. The room will have way less impact when you know your monitors and what they sound like in any situation. Turn them down to mix if the room sucks. Problem solved.
  6. My favourite new tool is this cheap mono Bluetooth speaker I got in a thrift store . It is super revealing of flaws like too much bass or solo levels. My computer has Bluetooth so I can export the mix and use media player and set computer output to Bluetooth. It doesn’t interfere with ASIO and Cakewalk can still be running . My mixes are always very close because I’ve used my Yamaha NSM 10’s For almost 30 years now. But the cheap speaker is closer to reality. I also like to use this app called SonoBus which sends my master buss to my cell phones. I then listen with my Bluetooth headphones as I do the dishes upstairs. I also use my studio headphones of which I have about 6 real good ones I will swap around. But the problem I have is everything sounds really good even when it’s not so I don’t trust headphones to translate to the real world. I mostly will trust that cheap Bluetooth speaker.
  7. My advice is don’t use any plug in you don’t have a clue about how it works or what is for until you understand it. For any of us to explain what is already hugely available using a bit of reading and a bit of watching is asking a lot. It can take years to learn how to properly use effects correctly. It is not a good idea to blindly toss them on a track thinking it will magically make it sound better. What @Byron Dickens said is good advice.
  8. But that’s why is a red flag to me as it doesn’t seem possible to have that showing as it is. The Focusrite is clearly in ASIO mode and shows correctly in all boxes including the sync and caching but why is asio4all showing as the output device?
  9. Why do you have ASIO 4all as an output? I would most certainly remove this from you system completely. You don’t need it at all. You have Focusrite drivers and WASAPI for Windows. My one drive is always on and I’ve never experienced an issue. It only syncs when you first boot up. It shouldn’t be doing anything if no files have changed.
  10. Midi can be Quantized to any value. Vocal sync is a way to Quantize audio. So the answer is yes.
  11. To bad CJ is not around anymore, He say " Find the tallest building in town and toss it off it" Back when the Creative Labs stuff caused the same issues we now have with Realtek ASIO. I'd be real surprised if they ever fixed it. I suffered 2 years of grief with a top of the line Audigy Sound Blaster card. It even had 1/4" jacks on a front panel. But the ASIO driver was useless and I found out later that it was actually a close relative of Asio4all, so it was a wrapper, not a proper ASIO driver at all.
  12. What they have said is any bug fixes for CbB were worked out already a few months ago. I’m only speculating, but I believe they are hanging on to the final update and it will be released along with the 2 new DAW’s. Hopefully that update will include untethering the authorization. They are now 100% focused on Sonar and Next so any new recommendations for Cakewalk would be applied to Sonar. Bottom line will be going forward you will have to pay if you want bug fixes and new features.
  13. They must be on that next level they tried to sell me that is for businesses. The whole system is crazy as they sell packages that in my case are my land line, TV and the internet all over fiber. We never watch the TV other than the knowledge network channel as we are spoiled with both You Tube premium and Amazon Prime which is dirt cheap and no commercials. We keep the TV because if we cancel it we actually pay more for the internet! We don’t want to cancel the land line because it’s only $15 and it’s a redundant system. The old relatives would freak out. For me using MP3 files is a waste of time now because 48/24 wave files upload in less than a minute.
  14. I actually live in the middle of nowhere in a way. Grand Forks only has a little over 4,000 people. But we had some forward thinking people here a long time ago and they saw Telus Communication was stringing fiber from the coast to Alberta right up highway 3. So our little town has had fiber for a long time now. I used to live 5 kilometres up the mountain and suffered bad internet for most of my life so I can totally understand pour bandwidth.
  15. Not hard to find out. I often run this test when I'm having issues. I also use it to see how good my Wi Fi is in different places on my property using my Cell Phone as the testing device. Different Wi Fi devices will also get different results sitting right next to each other. My Cell phone is fast but our older laptops are all way slower. Looks like I can stream live music to Seattle with less latency than my Audio interface produces at 256 buffer.
  16. It took about 1 minute to download at my place. Is you internet really slow?
  17. So you are looking at the numbers here. Notice the Bottom General Music Discussion far outstrips this sub forum. 244,327 of that is the Coffee House, of that the Deals sub form is more than half @ 172,811 The saddest sub forum is the Tutorials.
  18. Now that you say that, I guess it's a lot more to do with the CPU then the OS, It came with Vista and we were stuck with that for a few years.
  19. I can confirm that Cakewalk runs on W7. I have an old laptop with it installed I was using to test Cakewalk Playlist. The projects I used were all vere basic but it most certainly works if you can be patient and don’t mind waiting for everything you do to take forever!
  20. It's possibly your browser or anti virus, as I just said I had no problem so it's working. I wasn't logged in I downloaded it to another computer.
  21. As I said just go to the top of this web page and click on "Download" You will see this page where you once again click on Download. That takes you to this page where you once again click on Cakewalk Installer. It will download to your Downloads folder in Windows. I just tried it and its all working perfectly for me. Are you using Windows 10 ?
  22. Everything we request will be for what will become Sonar. As you read, the last free version will be what we have right now with a few minor bug fixes that they had already sorted out before all developments were focused on Sonar. We hope part of the update will be the removal of the time out on authorization as well. That will give users what is now only possible with Sonar X3, a totally untethered DAW.
