I will disagree at least with the ratio of Quality to price. These are basically freebies. I'm pretty picky about sounds and while these instruments might not be ones other people would use I play traditional bluegrass, folk, rock and country. I mostly look for vintage instruments especially eclectic pianos. Possibly some of the stuff sucks but my collection so far have been very high quality. Simple yes, Some only make one sound but that's also fine by me. I actually used some of these instruments when they were new and I think the problem some might have is these were mostly one trick ponies and cannot be compared to a modern synth or piano. They used weird inventions to attempt to make a piano portable. I've a pretty big collection of electric pianos some I even paid more than I should have for. Glassy is all over a lot of my tracks as well as it was the one I chose for live gigs because it's solid. Colla B I also use live but it's not quite good enough for my recordings, close but not as good as Air DB33. I haven't done much with these new ones but I'm pretty stoked about the Melox Pro Melodion. I used to own a real one 20 years ago and I had used it on recordings to emulate Accordion stuff. It sort of like a human powered reed organ. So far this one is sounding very usable and is a unique sound which for $10! This is an image of what a Melodion looks like.

OK I see, so you have audio track and you want to both create a tempo map and quantize it. I've run into that as well so be interested to see if it can be made to work. I've got a few old band recordings where the drums sound good but his timing was terrible. I gave up after trying Audio snap etc.

Funny I totally agree with this. I know it's 100% my fault but every attempt at using that feature ended with an un repairable mess. I just released 2 videos on recording guitar and vocals and I demonstrate my long standing workflow that never screws up. I use 3 tracks. It's really no different than take lanes but it's way easier and faster for me to grab the parts I want and compile a good track. If there's a part that I'm struggling with I use Auto punch in and just keep looping until I get it right. I am not a fan of cluttering projects with badly played parts. I delete anything that is iffy. And once I comp a track together from the parts I export it as a stem and bring it back as one complete track. You just drag the audio file to the timeline. I do this a lot. It works best with music that has solid transients. It wont work with audio that is slammed to the max.

I had one small issue with getting the email link for the free Wursy plug in so I inquired and Lucia got back to me in less than a half hour with a very nice reply telling me how important his customers are and any feedback is more than welcome. I like this company. I don't think I've spent more than $40 so far. I also have the Colla B organ which they made and is a freebie found on Plugins 4 free. What I really like is most of these can be used as stand alone. This is something I never needed before but I'm experimenting with a live set up which avoids having to load Cakewalk.

Windows 7 =Device Manager Windows 10 & 11 = Manage Sound Devices in Windows settings/ Sound. No need to uninstall anything. Just disable. I think I’ve said this 3 times now?

I’m afraid you might have an issue that 99% of Cakewalk users don’t have. We get many threads started here with the heading “Cakewalk is Crashing Help!” And it is most always a plug in. If it isn’t it is computer or audio interfaces issues. Cakewalk on its own is not something that will crash. At least not for a long time now. You need to figure out what it is about your computer that is not the same as everyone else. I have Cakewalk on 5 computers some are as old as 2008 and it doesn’t crash on any of those unless I inset TTS-1. Which is a plug in.

It’s really been a matter of paying attention here on the forum. Mostly people seem to have issues with funky freebies. But then there’s Waves which seems to have ongoing issues that might have been resolved. Isotope doesn’t crash Cakewalk but it can bring some under powered systems to there knees. Then there’s been some issues with transition to VST3 keeping some people away from using them.

That was what I was trying to say. The default is always going to be wrong! It takes 2 seconds to select the correct input for a track. I do this when inserting a new track . I often insert 3 new tracks at once. Selecting the input source and the output buss is part of the Add Track dialogue. As well as how many tracks you want. The pan controller has zero to do with recording. None of the track controllers have any bearing on recording.

Disabling the Nvidia audio driver in manage sound devices completely shuts it off and there’s no need to do anything else. But the above mentioned Experience app definitely need nuking

It is my understanding that the Realtek ASIO driver is only installed with the initial drivers when the computer is built. I have built dozens of Computers that have Realtek audio and I simply DON"T install the ASIO driver when given the option. But off the shelve computers and laptops will probably already have it installed. Just to be clear, Realtek doesn't need the ASIO driver to work. It is 100% happy to use the other Windows drivers like WASAPI. I use Realtek audio on at least 5 of my computers full time with out issues. The ASIO driver has been deleted in the Reg Edit App when it shows there. It has never returned. This is just a routine of mine as part of optimizing a computer for audio. I don't think it's possible it can be re installed without you choosing to do so. It would probably be offered as a optional user installed Windows Update. Realtek sound cards do not interfere with Cakewalk, The ASIO driver should not be used because it's badly written so best to remove it in the Reg Edit. On my Office computer I easily switch between my Focusrite interface or the Realtek audio by simply turning off the Focusrite. I have worked using WASAPI shared and using the on board audio for a zillion hours with Cakewalk without issues. I only turn on the Focusrite when I want to do some recording which is rare. My powered monitors are connected to the RealTek so I just use headphones with the interface. My main DAW all other audio devices are simply disabled in Manage Sound devices in Windows Settings. I use 48mHz so I never have conflicts with audio and can have multiple apps and You Tube running along with Cakewalk. I most certainly shut everything down including the internet when tracking. But playback and editing is not an issue otherwise.

Exactly. The nag stays on the free bundle forever until you upgrade ( At least I think it does?) It's hard to say what that upgrade does but I think it adds full features to all the free bundle effects. I think it added side chaining to the compressor as example. An idea come to mind would be to export all tracks, midi and audio, as stems. Choose the “Tracks “ as the export. You can also choose to include or not include effects and automation this way. This is what would be important. There will be tracks you want this and some you don’t so it might take 2 passes. This will create clean audio tracks that you will bring back into a second copy of the project and track by track replace them. The new project will require way less processing if you do this correctly.

Old thread alert but if you have any electric fences nearby they pump out a lot of RF interference like that. The fact you say it slows down at a different buffer size rules that out but I tossed it in for future reference.

I always make sure there’s data at least 2 measures past the end then export. Then I top and tail the song in Wave Lab. It’s more precise and I can experiment with fade outs. You can do this in Cakewalk but that workflow is CLUNKY

The op is using the free bundle from Melda. Like I said if you don’t like the Nag banner then slip them a few bucks and it’s gone. The plug in alliance was probably a demo that expired.

My only request would be to get rid of the Q&A sub forum. It seems a duplicate of this forum. I don’t like the fact it doesn’t show the last answer and time so you have to open threads and scroll down to see if the OP has responded to your answers. And possibly only 10% of the threads get the best answer checked. I freaked out when I noticed the edit button was gone. I use that a lot. Glad it still works

Ok that might explain the difference as then you obviously are sharing the same driver and the list of available inputs would be different than when one use only one interface.

Melda like many plug in vendors uses a manager app. You can run that to check status of any you install. They also periodically offer a discount on an upgrade that removes the nag and adds some minor improvements to the free bundle. I paid $50 I think. That’s dirt cheap considering the quality of the plug ins. Just subscribe to e mails. Cakewalks plug ins never need activation but Cakewalk does every 6 months or so.

Welcome to the wonderful world of digital audio and plug ins. If projects are of value and you want them to be future proof then you will need to start taking steps to ensure that they are safe from becoming obsolete down the road. Steps to take: If the project contains any midi, save it as a midi file. Also export those tracks as audio stems. Audio should be exported as stems both dry and wet versions. Put all this in the project folder in its own folder. Any DAW could be used to rebuild the song instantly. Then take screenshots of all the plug ins GUI open. This will help figuring out what they were and the settings used. Make a document and write down important details you think you need. As time moves on plug ins have evolved and right now we are beyond using any 32 bit plug ins in a reliable way. DX is next on the list and a 32 bit DX will be bad news. Many of us still really like the Cakewalk supplied DX plug ins but I have stopped using them for this very reason. I can’t rely on them to work 10 years from now. The TTS-1 is now crashing if added later in projects, so building a huge project relying on it is only asking for trouble. Next on the list might be VST 2 plug ins probably will not be supported in the future.

The default input in my world has always been it will choose the first stereo pair of your interface. Many newbies don’t realize this and end up recording everything in stereo. This is not what is desired for most audio tracks when using a mike or DI guitar. I almost never use a stereo track. Only hardware synths. You still don’t mention what that interface is?

My thoughts as well. We see the word sample at presume it’s the audio sample generated by the SI bass. This might also be interpreted as Example. We see Bars and presume this is a measure. It could also be a reference to the midi note blobs in PRV. So rewording question as “I want to use the midi bass line notes and create chords from them in PRV. “. If this is the question then the answer will be you have to manually draw the other notes. Cakewalk doesn’t have an automatic chord generator other than the arpeggiator. If it isn’t the question then ?!
