  3. I'm at a point now where I will only buy music products I know are being copied from official retailers like Sweetwater. The biggest issue is this: especially with Amazon, it doesn't matter if you buy from the official company store or not. Every item that gets shipped to Amazon's warehouse gets shoved into the same place as the fake ones because they are seen as the same item, and Amazon simply pulls from that supply so all those fakes just get mixed in with the real ones. So if you buy a Shure mic from the "Shure Store" on Amazon, there is still a high probability that you will be sent one of the fakes that just got thrown in the pile with the fake mics that look the same.

  6. There are only 2 inputs on the Scarlett 2i4. If you've set: Track 1 -> Output 1, Track 2 -> Output 2, Track 3 -> Output 3 Track 4 -> Output 4 That's all you need to do. I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to achieve though - I've got 32 inputs / 34 outputs on my interface, and I rarely use more than 2 outputs (i.e. the stereo L/R), unless I'm going out to external hardware effects and back again. Most of the time, all tracks are set to output to the Master bus, and the master bus is set to output to outputs 1L + 2R (stereo). The only time you need to use the additional outputs is: - When you need a send to an external hardware effects unit - When you have a separate (and usually different) monitor mix from your main one.

  7. By my definition no. Looking it up in theSteven's imaginary book of definitions - my definition of a sub is, for example Adobe, where you build no equity with your payments and regardless of when you quit subscribing you end up with nothing. The OP's comment about rent to own is closer to the mark. I guess anything that you have to regularly pay for updates or new versions could be considered subscriptions. In which case BitWig, Cubase, StudioOne and others are subscriptions. Still YM(or opinion)MV. At this point I own MComplete but $16 per month I might have opted for this back when.

  11. I pretty much always use the plugin browser search nowadays, typing in 3 or 4 characters of the plugin name usually narrows it down to a small enough list for me to spot it and drag it in... and I've got nearly 2000 plugins on one of my machines.

  13. That's a very good deal. The only drawback to the Suite is there's an additional 70gb you will rarely use. The only plus is Max4Live. It's probably worth effort to learn it but there are also great 3rd party devices for it.

  14. You are correct Jesse. Walmart and Amazon should do a better job vetting the vendors that use their sites to sell. That said, in reality it comes down to what Steven says... money. Amazon making a killing letting anyone, and I mean anyone sell products on thier site. They could care less if they rip someone off with fake products. They making their dollars. Walmart has watched from the sidelines and finally said, "heck with this, we not letting Amazon make all the money. We want our share too!" So they are doing the same thing. Why? Cause we keep buying. And when we figure it out and stop buying bs fakes, they will have already made enough money to be able to shift to whatever business model necessary. As always: buyer beware.

  15. @Cannimagine historically when new versions of SONAR where released they installed in a parallel directory within the Cakewalk directory structure. On my current machine I have both SONAR Platinum and CbB. Within the Cakewalk directory tree there are two significant directories SONAR Platinum which hold the program code unique to SONAR Platinum Cakewalk Core which holds the program code unique toCakewalk by Bandlab Then there is the other directories that are shared by both programs. I suspect that when Cakewalk Sonar is released we will see a new directory in that tree which will hold the code unique to it. All we need to do is patiently wait whilst it finishes baking in the Cakewalk oven.

  16. @Cannimagine you’re happy with CbB, right. You’ve been happy all along; right? I’m confident that the move to the “new” Sonar will be as seamless as each CbB update has been. Worry not, the “bakers” have got this! t

  17. That's just bad business! Companies like Walmart and Amazon should check out all of the folks who request to sell via their websites. Selling false or bad products makes them look bad. Who cares about the little shady company lurking in the background who is actually selling the items. It's the larger company with the well known name that is going to get the bad rep for performing the final sale. Here is a slap for Walmart and Amazon for allowing these creeps to use their website to do bad business.

  18. I have not tried them in depth, only twice for a few hours. Yes, they can be a time saver, and the more plugins you have, the more chains are available. Filtering for what you own is easy, and if you are picking your favourites over time and know the chains in-depth, you can become really fast I guess. One thing you can do is start the demo (for a week I think) with a bundle that's attractive to you, take some time and use the stuff in a project or two and see if it's for you. There are other solutions around with a similar approach. Two that I prefer: 1. PSP Infinistrip, great presets, but "only" a channel strip. At PSP, they have certain plans to extend the software, but I don't know any details. 2. Hofa System. A plugin toolbox that goes beyond channel strips. A bit expensive, 350 presets which are really good and endless possibilities. My favourite time saver, one plugin per track to do 90% of the work. As you see, I'm not a friend of "go to the web and download preset chains", but rather a curated set of presets that tick a lot of boxes. An ever-growing collection in the cloud does not guarantee the stuff is good and well-curated, and an essential thing to keep in mind is that chains are solutions you have to analyse before being good and fast with them. A finite set of presets suits me better. But that's just me.

  20. Not a bug. Almost certainly user error. Probably a sample rate mismatch Even if it was a bug, no way are the developers going to bother with 13 year old obsolete, discontinued software.

  21. Yep. That’s what I did. Borrowed a whole load of guitars and recorded a whole load of different pickup configurations. With the plugins I already owned I ended up getting Complete for a tenner.

  22. People on VI-C are layering sampled pianos with the resonance engine from Pianoteq: https://vi-control.net/community/threads/adding-pianoteq-resonance-to-sampled-pianos.145427/ I have yet to try it myself, but it sounds really good and makes me excited to waste a lot of time trying it on every one of those 217 piano libraries I own.

  23. I know more people that use Adobe than use a DAW with adon effects as a hobby and I live in both worlds. Both are worlds of a sea of hobbiests vs a small pool of people making a sustainable living wage at it, and ironically it takes most more than a decade to make pro level results in music and plenty of people can get good enough for a small gig in photography/editing in less than two years without prior experience with some practice and youtube instruction. Much harder to overcome the investment costs in music than it is in the digital art world.

  26. The amount of fraud happening through Amazon, is pretty alarming. I'm not a fan of how some items come up through other sellers. Pretty shady, imo. It's like they don't vet anything at all.

  27. JT3Jon, Anything purchased from Walmart online can be returned via their Walmart Supercenter. I had a store that would not accept an online 3rd party vendor's item sold at Walmart Online at their store and the returns person kept saying it couldn't be returned there. Well, she was correct, but she didn't know that the Supercenter could take the return back. I called Walmart Corporate office and they instructed me to take it to the Walmart Supercenter and they took it back. Supercenters receive all Walmart's online purchases there.

  32. It also reminded me a lot of the C6 that was at Caribou Ranch... which, due to the altitude, was never evenly tempered.? Come to think of it, I'd have to say that my favorite piano of all was the Bosendorfer Imperial that we had at studio A at Chicago Recording Company. It was the personal piano of the studio owner... wonder where that is now?? Worst piano ever was the 9' Steinway that got pushed off (and I actually mean dropped off) the back of the truck one hour before a Ramsey Lewis solo concert at the Chicago Hilton. Seems there was a small issue with the local cartage & stage union that evening. LOL!

  33. No idea actually. To me it sounds like three v-layers. It's not IMO a solo instrument, but the 'tightness' control (IIRC-ATM) has a wide dynamic swing as I stated, from soft & squishy, to somewhat robust. Alecias pianos are more striking and percussive and useful as solo instruments tho. I'll forego any opinion poll, because my choice of a piano is heavily dependent on the material I'm scoring. Sometimes it's NOIRE or UniCorda, sometimes it's a honky upright. But do your thang bro.

  34. The only issue I have had with their sub is there's no defined off-ramp, i.e., it is a full-price (in payments) and what you have paid already cannot be used for other promotions. The trials are pretty liberal, so if you take to their plugins, it is more cost-effective to nab one-offs on the individual sales as they hit (which will start to lower the bundle costs) and save up for the 50-60% bundle sales to hit (seems to be at least twice a year now).

  35. Not to muddy the waters (for all those Piano collectors in here), but I have been somewhat impressed with the Spitfire LABS Autograph Grand for some poppy stuff lately. It's a well known and used C6, and the dynamics make it run the gambit from really soft and squishy to fairly strong. Free. Edit: and aficionados will notice the slightly off-temper tuning.

  38. At least rent to own. The price point seems about right for the market now. While I never do subs (and have MComplete outright), I can't imagine the previous $50/month was something a lot of people could justify.

  40. one thing i used extensively about 12-15 years ago was the Bolland [Super] Brass sound font - not partcularly "real" compared to todays ampller VI but it made adding horn sections really easy and in the mix was pretty decent for an soundfont. https://www.zanderjaz.com/downloads/soundfonts/brass/

  42. I actually found the Audient EVO 8 at a local dealer today, and I immediately (bought it) and plugged in to this oddly named "audio USB-C" -Because the motherboard came with this USB to jack-cable, I was afraid it had limited functionallity. Turned out; it didn't. It worked just like I hoped it would; just like a normal audio-interface connection. Thanx, guys! (Byebye, Octa-capture)

  47. Thanks for the reply. @Jesse Jost It’s seems stupid that a lot of us are still installing ancient versions of Sonar and installing CCC just to grab a few plug ins. Every time you do a new install it’s this crazy process to get to the point we’re all things Cakewalk are up to speed. A one stop automated app would be a dream come true. I will personally thank staff for keeping all that legacy software available and assistance for the fools that lost their passwords to the account. It would be way to much to ask that staff be involved in transferring legacy products from CCC to CPC so a suggestion. Have a tool as part of CPC that says “ Import Legacy Products “ You’d click it and it would take you to your old products page? Just wishful thinking ? Your Loyal customer: John.
