The more they try to make us subscribe the less willing I am to even buy from them ?6 points

Of course perpetual seat buyers get nothing. Typical Waves move.6 points

F___ Waves with that ol bs! So, people who have spent thousands are not entitled to a second license, but subscribers to the service they keep trying to force on us do? I will use what I paid for, but will NEVER subscribe to this nonsense. This is pure okie doke.6 points

I tried it today. I have not tried bx_masterdesk. I think the closest equivalent I have is IK Lurrsen Mastering Console, but even that is not apples to apples. I think Ozone has too many extra modules to be a fair comparison. Super easy to use. I think it gave satisfactory results for something so instant. Lurrsen gave me a warmer mix, and i preferred it, but that was largely due to coloration Hornet does not have. For the price, more than worth it5 points

I think the comparison sheets are still around for everyone who wants to leave the ship.4 points

Yes, you can upgrade, but... I just purchased this and am downloading the Essentials and the two pianos (3 GB, 3.5 GB and 40 GB!). I did have an upgrade option to the full version, but Melda can tell what you paid for it, so my upgrade price was 269 €. I have ZERO need for the full version. So, this was the bargain for MSoundFactory that I've been waiting for.4 points

Well, I survived the three-hour tour. My daughter, who's far wealthier than me, had booked the boat for a private excursion so it actually went 4 hours. Our guide was knowledgeable and respectful of the whales, clearly an ecologically-sensitive preservationist in spite of his exploitive job. I still have reservations about following whales around. Now I know how movie stars feel when they're just trying to have lunch with a pack of paparazzi lurking about. There were several other whale-watching boats out there (I tried shouting that they couldn't look at them because we'd booked a private tour and those were OUR whales, but they apparently couldn't hear me), all tipping off the other boats as to which pods were where. Still, I'd rather see them swimming free than performing tricks at Sea World. (If you've never seen it, I highly recommend the fantastic documentary "Blackfish". But be forewarned: it's one of those documentaries that will leave you fuming.) We saw them play. We saw them fish. We did not get to see them mutilate any harbor seals, though. They seemed to be content with salmon. As would I. I have to admit, those Orcas are truly majestic. Boats have to stay some distance from them, but the animals have no such restrictions and often came right up to us. We saw a total of 12 of them in 3 different pods, including babies as well as elder giants. It was interesting enough to keep me from falling asleep, despite having only four hours' sleep the night before. I normally veg out on the Sunday after a late gig. I can't veg today, either, as today's chore is unloading the van and setting up for guitarist auditions tomorrow and Wednesday. On that front, we're hopeful because one of the candidates was enthusiastic enough to come to Saturday's gig. Now, if he'd only stuck around for the loadout and helped move gear, I'd have been inclined to offer him the job on the spot.3 points

I searched for lots of libraries and discovered that they have zero "E.PIANO" ou "E.ORGAN" sounds since 2004/2006. This is crazy because E Pianos are what people love most about the DX7. I opened the rom banks 1 and 3 in DEXED and removed the dots from the presets names. Problem solved! DX7 rom1 (FM8).zip DX7 rom3 (FM8).zip rom1a (FM7).syx rom1b (FM7).syx rom3a (FM7).syx rom3b (FM7).syx3 points

This is not looking like a bad deal. And since I recently purchased some more storage space.... this might be one to get. Recently I have been messing with MTurboComp and MTurboReverb and am very impressed with these two plugins. Just using the presets of these two plugins, I have found that they are extremely tweakable, and I can get almost anything out of them. So if MSF LE is anything like these, (and I suspect they are) this LE version maybe all I need.3 points
-
I bought MSF LE from Plugin Boutique (2021: £40.80). At the time they had no mechanism for purchasing the upgrade through them, but since third party purchases need to be registered with Melda Production, I was able to get the upgrade pricing directly from Melda. From what I have seen, $39 for LE is an excellent price. UPDATE: See this page. It says "Can be upgraded to: MSoundFactory." Note: I just looked up my invoice. I upgraded during one of the 1/2 price sales and received a loyalty credit for LE on top of the 50% price.3 points

Many of us work on more than one computer and require license flexibility. Starting November 1, 2023, we will add a 2nd license for all active Waves Creative Access subscriptions—allowing subscribers to use their plugins on a separate computer without having to move licenses between devices. The 2nd license is for use by the owner of the main product license only (see terms & conditions). We will update you once the second licenses become available. All the best, The Waves Team2 points

Until you lose it or it break it and I wonder if you don't have WUP if they would even reset for you (yes I'm sure you in particular have WUP) PA gives the same option with three USB sticks at a time.2 points

Wait until they learn other companies offer up to 5 licenses or you can use the software in as many machines you want as long as you don't use them at the same time.2 points

Sorry you have been struggling with stuff. I have life interruptions too. One thing I like to do to get something going again is play. Just forget producing something and just play around with an instrument or vst or fx on something. Arps are playful. So my suggestion is to play! Hope you feel better soon.2 points

The dot that causes problems is not in the filename but in the name of the preset that is inside the file. In Dexed it was similar but with a different character, I think it was "[".2 points

I hear Bapu celebrated last night with a couple of adult beverages... Metamucil and Ensure! ? For those of you that don’t want Alexa listening in on your conversation they are making a male version….it doesn’t listen to anything. Now that I have lived through a plague, I totally understand why Italian renaissance paintings are full of fat people lying on couches. Three thousand and twenty-seven years from now, life will either be really good or really bad. It’s 5050. In Ancient Rome there were four types of poisons. Poisons I, II and III would all kill you but Poison IV would make you really itchy. Just learned that a dentist who rents a space on the main floor of our building got arrested for selling drugs. Shows how wrong you can be about people. I’ve been going to him for years. Never knew he was a dentist. What’s the difference between a kleptomaniac and a literalist? The literalist takes things literally. The kleptomaniac takes things, literally.2 points

$60 is cheapest I’ve ever seen it. Take advantage I use mine within komplete kontrol and all important knobs are mapped to my komplete keyboard which is really nice. It’s not nks but mapping was done right making it more fun.2 points

Marc , if ya own the arturia , you can also import those ....try it , be sure then to go in option and change velocity to taste (i've found the full velocity setting s better than the DX7 one , i guess they tweaked it for arturia keyboard or some )2 points

I was curious so I looked up prices: Fractal Axe FX III Turbo = $2500 3 EV-1 expression pedals = $420 FC-12 Foot Controller = $800 ========================= Total $3720, still that is a heck of lot easier than lugging around a 2 4x12 Marshall stack I imagine. I'll stick with this (since I don't even really play guitar) And for Bass, I'll stick with this. I've since sold my two VOX AC30's and my HUGE bass stack. Paired down to one 1x12 15w/1w guitar amp and an ACOUSTIC (RESEARCH) B50C combo for light in studio jamming. No more blast to the max.2 points

@timboalogo - the additional MIDI IN/OUT ports are for transmitting control data, should you need it to be separate from the main MIDI port. For example, you can assign the transport controls to send MIDI CC messages on MIDI Port B (MIDI IN 2) , then use CbB's ACT Control Surface to map those messages to CbB's transport controls. If your MIDI track is set to only receive from MIDI IN 1, it won't record those messages to your MIDI track. Another example might be to assign the rotary controls to MIDI CC messages on MIDI Port C (MIDI IN 3), and use CbB's ACT Learn to assign them to plugin parameters.2 points

Check your Arturia account on Black Friday. If you own two synths already you might get the V Collection 9 for 150€. That's the offer that I got. I only had Pigments and Analog Lab Lite at that moment. And 33 instruments for 150€ is roughly 4.55€ per synth which is super-cheap.1 point

I'll be recording with an Olympus LS100 Digital Recorder, with two AKG414 condenser microphones plugged into the XLR's, in Cardioid mode close to the phones. I wonder if that will work for recording these.1 point

Dexed 0.96 has a better convertion from the syex files. FM8 has a problem converting the E.Piano 1 or E.ORGAN because of the "." in name.1 point
-
Thanks @TheSteven ! I didn't know that it is possible to import sysx files into FM8. I just have loaded the factory presets (almost unchanged) that I had exported of my DX7II (bought in the 80s and I still have it). Many of the sounds are almost the same as the original, but there are some with pitch changes that sound completely awful in the FM8 (the pitch changes too much). I had noticed the same thing with Dexed some years ago, where I tried the patches the first time.1 point

I've never lost MIDI spontaneously in all my years except by my own mistake. If you're seeing this in the PRV, it could be due to having Hide Muted Clips enabled, but that would not affect the Track View. The most likely way of actually deleting something indirectly is by having Ripple All enabled when you delete something in another track. Other possibilities would be moving it to a hidden track or inadvertently slip-editing the clip down too nothing or maybe executing Bounce to Clip(s) while it's muted. For future reference, I always advise using Save As to preserve earlier versions of a project as it develops in order to avoid saving irreversible edits. If you haven't already re-saved the current session, you should Save As with a new name now and check the last saved version.1 point

Don't know if it helps you but from what I recalI most of the issues are on non-windows machines. Regardless, the dev keeps updating his plugins so I assume the issues will get ironed out eventually. I don't know if I'll use it (don't really use these type of plugins) but I bought it anyway. At $3 it's a cheap way to support the developer.1 point

I have a Fractal Axe FX III Turbo that I recently upgraded to from a Axe FX II. All of Fractal's units are amazing pieces of gear. I've completely organized my studio around the Fractal now and I no longer mic amps. And these are so much FUN! Just plug in in a guitar and start cycling through presets - you're bound to find something interesting and inspiring to play with. As for tips - - Pay attention to your gain-staging just as you would in real-life. - I recommend a foot pedal or two so you can run Wah, volume, whammy, etc. You can literally assign the pedal to any parameter - so want to run the repeats of a delay from the pedal ala Andy Summers? Easypeasy. - I use SPDIF to record into my Apollo 8x. I send clock out from the UAD to the Fractal on AES. This seems to make it all rock solid and I'm just not a fan of using USB audio from anything so I don't use it from the Fractal. I also sent one output of of dry signal from the Fractal to an input on the Apollo. That way I can always record a dry signal while also recording the stereo outs via SPDIF. - Download Axe Edit - the software for editing your Fractal. It's well done and extremely powerful. - Enjoy the 100% recall-ability of the Fractal and ignore the whiners that tell you digital will never be as good as analog.1 point

Set CPU state min and max to 100% and you should be fine, you may have to freeze some tracks occasionally.1 point

These are just suggested specs. FWIW, I recorded 16 simultaneous tracks in Next while playing back an existing 32 tracks on a 2.0Ghz / 4 core Intel Celeron J4125 with 8GB of RAM... and this was to an external USB 3 SSD. No plugins though. I did the same in CbB and had no issues there either. The specs are intentionally on the higher side, as people generally want to load their project up with plugins.1 point

To be honest, the jury is out for me. I have been a Cakewalk/ Sonar faithful user since the first days of release. I've been through all the buy outs, the ups and downs. When Cakewalk was sold by Gibson and in limbo, I purchased Studio One to ensure that I had a platform to work from. Also started replacing all plug ins with 3rd party. I was not going to get caught with my pants down in the future and had to ensure that I had a platform and tools to work with. I still use Cakewalk the majority of the time, but I decided not to put all of my eggs in one basket. Depending on where this goes, I will have some decisions to make. I don't want 3 platforms on my hard drive taking up all my SSD space, not to mention the financial aspect of keeping up with 3 platforms; that is if Cakewalk comes in 2 formats. I'm not real keen to putting money into a platform that left me hanging the last time. I understand not honoring the "Lifetime" commitment made through Gibson ownership, completely. I'm just not sure how much loyalty I need to dish out. Sounds like some major decisions may be on the horizon for many of us, or at least for myself.1 point

I hope they will be fair to us previous licensees just to get the same functionality like we have today. I don't mind paying like they did in the past, $150 for an upgrade fee, but if they want to charge us $300 or more just to keep the same functionality....then I will be scratching my head for that move...1 point
