Drum thrones
in Gear
My drummer friend hates the throne I have (mid range Gibralter) for my set in the studio.
With COVID I have not had to hear his complaint for over a year now. ?
I used to tell him to bring his but he never did.

@Bapu you ever have the UFX misbehave? this was like a digital over in the cans that didn't show up in the recording.
I assumed, (there's that A S S out of you and me thing) I had a bad DAC...t
Nope, not yet.

so I don't think I could ever summon the energy to try and learn another system.
Or in my case the brains. That's why it's so easy to just bumble about in any DAW I own.

Hey, I'm old skool. I got no time for fancy black borders. ?
You could still learn the 2-Step you old bugger
And then the person you tagged gets a notification as opposed to having to stumble upon your untagged reply. ?

The cool looking factor is there for sure Reid.
As a bass player and at €29 it's borderline must have. ?

when did you stop live performing
About 40 years ago. In 2009 I had a reunion jam with the band in our high school era. My ex-wife (high school girlfriend) stopped by to see the guys. That's about a 'live' as it gets. I much more prefer the recording approach, especially virtually.
Live playing was never much fun for me. You know the old joke: loads up thou$and$ in gear to drive 50 miles to make $50 (or less).

So what did you end up doing for a living and when did you stop live performing
I was already in the workforce in the field of materials management which led to computer programming ultimately. Still doing that today 45 years later.

Oh yeah,
Early days I played in a band with Burleigh Drummond (before he joined Ambrosia) and I played in a band with Chas Sandford before he became a producer of Chicago and Stevie Nicks among others.
I turned down the opportunity to audition for the reforming Uriah Heep, and then foolishly a fledgling act called Hall and Oats.

I shelled out for:
Studio One 5.x
Mixcraft 9 (PC Only, I'm less likely to upgrade in the future for more than $40 as the last upgrade was $30)
Samplitude 5 (PC Only, I will probably not upgrade any more)
Pro Tools 2020 Perpetual
Digital Performer 10
Cubase 11
Reaper (the cheaper pricing)
Mixbus/MIxbus 32C
Reason
Logic X (Mac only)
Would I shell out for CbB if it become paid for again? Not likely unless the re-entry cost was $99 or less and yearly version upgrades were $49. For what I use it for the locked down current version would be sufficient (just to create a tracking shell with markers for my CbB collaborators).

I'm surprised you went with the Gigabyte HD 5450 Fanless Video. Jim's site indicates it's ok to use the embedded GPU. And I would imagine it's even faster than the 5450. I know my C/Gpu is faster than my old GeForce fanless.
I've been with that card for quite sometime. I was having troubles getting the resolution I like from the onboard GPU (2560x1600). I may try again one day.

Due to living/work from home conditions I use cans to record and mix.
I use SONARWORKS. It comes with profiles for my ATH M-50s and my STATUSONE. I also have a custom profile for a pair of Sennheiser HD-598s.
I also have the the Slate headphone system.
As well as the Ultimate Ears reference monitors.
I also use my HD600s to check the mix.

How many strings does a bass have? I only have so many fingers to go around.

After realizing that I only have and use the headphones only version (my IK iLoud MTMs come with ARC built in) I will be upgrading ($39) to the new version just because.
