  1. Watched the video - Lots of pops and drop outs?

I will probably try it out, but if it sounds like the video (pops etc.)  I'll just get rid of it.   I'm hoping it was just his set up because it looks interesting.

    Just my observation.

Freezing means rendering audio to a file. Currently a bus can't play an audio file, though I suppose that capability could be added. In the mean time you can bounce the bus to a track that outputs to the same destination, and mute the bus.

I would agree to the above (from @David Baay) as one solution.   But I was thinking and thought why not use the "Mix Recall" function.  I don't know if it would meet your requirements but I did this experiment since I was curious:

I opened a project and added a extra bus called "Sub-Mix1" - no FX added to either

I saved this configuration as a project, then crested a "Mix Recall Scene" called "mix1"

I then added a limiter to the master bus and a "EQ" to the sub mix bus - created a new scene named "mix2"

next I changed the FX on the "Sub-Mix" buss to something else and save that scene as "mix3"

At this point I could go to original mix "Mix1" and no FX in either buss.  Selected "Mix2" scene and each now had FX added.   Selected "Mix3" and the sub buss FX changed.

Now I don't know if that is what you are after (as in trying different mixes).    I myself, do not see a use for freezing a buss (with FX) since I can a bounce the buss to a track (to save plug-in overhead) or just create another buss with a different FX  and then mute the one I don't want in the mix.

    Don't know if that helps . . .  But it is an idea . . .

When I retired 2 months ago, one thing I anticipated was having time to do some recording.

I have hardly touched my DAW, or a guitar since then. No inspiration, except time.

I encounter the same type of thing . . .   Don't let it get you down - it shall pass!   I think that retiring is a bigger challenge then some people think.

I was depressed for a few months after the "newness" of retirement wore off.

  4. Although this might not be helpful, I had a similar experience with Amplitube 4.

I was running AD2 (Addictive Drums) standalone and AT4 standalone at the same time and they were not happy sharing the ASIO driver for Focusrite very well.  Now I never had that problem within Cakewalk (running together), but did have problems trying to run the standalone AT4 and Cakewalk at the same time (mostly crackles).

This was over a year ago.  Lately, I have run AT4 standalone and Cake running AT4 and everything seemed happy, but I think that was just luck.

Make sure you are not running any programs (outside of Cakewalk) that are using the ASIO drivers and Cakewalk at the same time.  Generally as a rule-of-thumb, I just run Cakewalk by itself.  Otherwise, I do not have any other ideas.

  5. I'm thinking of backing up (imaging current disk) and giving 10 a try but I need to understand what is meant by "Deactivating" licenses (as mentioned in previous posts).  Are we talking just ILok or all registered (licensed)  Vst's.

I don't want to fight my system to get things back to normal - thanks for info . . .

Auto Update failed for me, so I did have to download and install manually

You can change the year, you can change the decade, but it seems you can't change BA.

True -  I think the first couple of times it worked for me (updated from BA) - Never works now - They should fix that . . .  (He said, stating the obvious)

NOTE: old posts refer to simply copying and renaming folders to create working versions of CbB. This is no longer a safe practice. To have multiple versions of CbB available online use Launchpad.

@scook ,  Can you explain "what is not safe" about the rename/copy option?  If it exist, point me to the thread that talks about or explain it here.   I have been copying the "cakewalk core" and archiving it and I would like to know how this could muck things up . . .   Thanks "ahead of time"

Is there a way to downgrade to a lower OS, the new update is slow acting. The scroll line jumps and skips to the music. I tried editing the latency, but still the same. Didn't do this before the update.

Folks - I read this as a reference to the new update of CbB . . .

@kday - please state what you actually requesting - Cakewalk upgrade OR an actual OS (operating system) update.  It would let members advise you better . . .

    Thanks,

  11. Interestingly enough,  earlier (this day) the page the link posted above, points to to a page where you can get the Imager V2 (which I picked up).

The next present in the list for "Day 2"  had title of "Open in 1 Day".  Now it says "Two Days" and all the others are weird day lengths . . .   Yesterday I was under the impression this was a sequential "Day" thing (like a count down)    I wonder what they are up to??

Just curious... Anybody else see this?

Yeah, at first I thought it was a some warm dirty saturation added for character, but after cycling through some presets, I found that the rise krispies effect persisted. The standalone mode also doesn't seem to recognize my SD-50 in ASIO mode.

Did not recognize my focusrite either . . .   Worked in DAW . . .   Still might find it useful somehow . . .     You get what you pay for - LOL

  13. I'm glad you brought that up.  Listening to the samples (or it could have been the video), I was thinking that I was hearing distortion and on some patches the "rice krispies" as you described ( I believe ).  Maybe it was noise that they were adding to the patch.  I'm going to give another listen

We will see.  I have downloaded it and will play with it later this week.

It's funny you should mention alternatives to Spacebar for starting and stopping playback and recording. I've noticed that Spacebar seems prone to mis-starts or bursts of static instead of normal playback, whereas using the mouse to click the transport button is less prone. I haven't tracked that down in any detail, yet, but it seems strange.

I saw somewhere in the forum others talking about the same issue using a Focusrite interface (driver update issues).  I myself have experienced this "static" effect on playback.

This has since stopped since I have updated my driver to the "next" to latest version and have not had this happen for a few months.  Perhaps it is your driver?

[additional info]  After the coffee kicked in I seem to recall that updating the Focusrite drive did not go well the first time and I re-installed the driver and rebooted my laptop and then things worked better . . .   Don't know if it applies, but thought I'd add it anyways.
