Installation "Best Practice" . . . ?
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Russell's topic in Computer Systems
Because you don't want to have a single point of failure for files which are important to you. -
Which is better for music production
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to T on Y's topic in Computer Systems
Instructions per clock are usually more important than clock speed. Also, Intel's hybrid CPU architecture can only be used efficiently if you use Windows 11. -
How do the Pros Route Tracks, Busses, Masters
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Scott Kendrick's topic in Production Techniques
This works very well if you do templates or use a physical mixing console. Imagine the nightmare it would be if you had to re-patch all the channels of your 48 or 64 channel console for every mix. It's also important to consider that while we are basking on millions of dollars worth of gear in the virtual realm, a large studio might have maybe 1 or 2 compressors like a 1176 or LA-2A (considering they cost 4 grand each), so that's a necessity more than anything. That's mostly because ProTools was created in a time where the only people with access to DAWs were people which could afford the expensive TDM systems that came out in 1995, so the software had to operate in a way that made sense for the people with large consoles and tape machines. Modern DAWs have thrown that tradition away for the sake of ease of use. While they can use their plugins, I very much doubt they do. Why would CLA load an instance of his plugins when he has the actual gear already set up in his studio and could use that instead? -

Nuno Bettencourt: Rick Beato Interview
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Grem's topic in The Coffee House
And the only thing they talked about is the fast stuff at the end of the solo most likely and fifty million tutorials on how to do it because nobody made a tab for it. -
All companies are still testing the ground because none of them command the same mind share and standard power as Adobe did when they introduced their Creative Cloud. Once people start to get settled in or be forced to do so, every single plugin and piece of software will be subscription based.
-
The more I see mixing tutorials all over the place, the more I agree on how EMI used to teach their engineers back in the day as mentioned by Peter Doell. They learned to master before they learned how to mix. The logic behind that is you learn how the finish line is supposed to be, then you learn how to get to the finish line. Otherwise, you start decorating cake recipes that don't apply to all cases and tend to get stuck. And this is exploited by marketing departments all over to the point of selling falseties as a problem that only secret sauce product X can solve.
-
Couple that with their annoying installation process and that's a no. Thankfully, Saturation Knob already comes with Cakewalk.
-
And this is what happens when a company spends more money on marketing than infrastructure.
-
I am certain they will because that was their intention when they introduced Reason+ The current scenario where you can have both is just a stop gap solution until they can put you in a situation where you're either forced to subscribe or stop using the program entirely.

IKMultimedia Tape Machine 24 free with any purchase
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to MrFigg's topic in Deals
I've never found the T-Racks tape machine plugins that amusing, perhaps because I've never used a porta Studio or any of the cassette recorders when I was starting with music. Plus they consume Acustica levels of cpu for no apparent reason. -

Yes. You can easily try all the plugins yourself. Their only demo restrictions are you can't save presets and the plugin stops working after 30 minutes. No random stops, hisses or anything of the sort. -
Yes. You can't download eLicenser Control by itself through Download Manager.

After watching the video, my suspicions increased. Even the oversampling menus are the same. And it does appear that the former had input from Jatin in making it (appears, because it's mentioned in the manual), which means it's probably is the same codebase underneath. That's still concerning because ChowTape is licensed under GPL v3 and there's no mention of it anywhere in the manual or the product page of Tape Scultpor nor can you see any links to its source code. Apart from the delay section, every single setting from Tape Sculptor is present in CHOWTape, although CHOWTape has other settings which Tape Sculptor doesn't, like the ability to sync the flutter and the ability to have 4 mix groups where all settings are copied across multiple instances of CHOWTape which are part of it.
-
Are you sure about that one? Cause I'm pretty sure you have to download the eLicenser manager updates manually.

Introducing SSL UF1 DAW Controller Centre
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
If it was built like a tank, it would probably cost the price of one. -
The problem is that the word "De-Reverb" or "De-Verb" would be a generic term to refer to something that removes reverb, much like "De-Esser" is a generic term for a single band compressor meant to remove sibilance from vocals.
-
The first version of RX to include DeReverb was RX3 Advanced, which came out in 2014. The Waves ClarityVx plugin series was first introduced last year, with this DeReverb one being brand new.
-
The only company which would have a case against Waves is not SPL, but iZotope, since they do have a plugin/tool which is called DeReverb as part of RX and had it for quite a while, since RX predates the Clarity series of plugins.

While I do see the appeal to have things like compressors and delays added to a tape simulation, personally, I think you can achieve most of those using different plugins along with ChowTape. The only upgraded I would go for would be u-he Satin, which does extra things ChowTape doesn't do, like emulating an actual reel to reel recorder using the plugin to control up to 8 instances of itself, dolby encoding and decoding, oversampling up to 384k and other things. Although it is a more expensive plugin at 142 USD.
