    1 Bit

I love this song. Like some of the above comments, I knew someone just like this. From your comments above it sounds as if you were never impaired by someone one like this. Lucky you! Anyway, the lyrics are great, the production was well done. and your vocals really delivered the story of the song. Nice work. It was indeed a fun song!!!

    ooooooooooooooo

Hi Allan. This is a really well put together song. It has an excellent pop feel to it. It has a bit of contrast with a bit of a cheery melody with what could be sad lyrics. BTW the lyrics are great! Nice one!
  3. This is an excellent song Paul. Your lyrics effectively convey what seems to be very personal emotions. Melody , your vocals and the BGV's really convey the emotion of this song as well. This number has some serious angst and emotion but the instrumentation adds a bit of a cheery counter measure to that. How in the world did you manage that. Really good stuff -- one of your best!
  4. A beautiful light and "breezy" beautiful song. It would indeed make a wonderful soundtrack. It is the type of song that just makes one feel good after listening to it. Good stuff Kakku!!!
  5. Oops, not working for me either. I'll try again. BTW, I'm working on your request!
  6. Good to see you on the new forum. Beautifully and well done. Everything about your version of this song is well done and I just love that guitar lead break. Excellent work!!!
  7. What a beautiful song perfectly done! Great performance, arrangement, mix, etc. Musically it expresses a great sentiment!! All the best to you and your wife. Thanks for posting.
  8. Hi Hidden Symmetry. I very glad that you liked it. Thank you. I am also pleased that I am not the only that feels this way. ? Hi Leadfoot. Thanks for your kind comments and encouragement. My use of reverb is not as bad as it used to be but I still have to watch myself. I guess that we might not like this process of maturing (I'll kindly call it that) but it seems we have little choice about it. However, aging is a heck of a price to pay for maturity! Thanks again. Hey Douglas. Thanks very much for taking time to listen and for your comments. I go back an forth on the reverb on this song. I do have to watch it as I tend to abuse it. Thanks again for the kind words.
  9. Hey Bats. You have been experimenting a bit with the last couple of songs that you have posted. To me this number has an almost cinematic feel to it. Of course the performance, recording, mix, vocals, harmonies, etc. are great. Coming from you they always are. I particularly like the arrangement on this song. The alternating lyrical vocals interspersed with some really clever and skilled guitar work really grab ones attention and pulls them into this song. Excellent work --- I wish my dreams would produce stuff like this.
  10. I remember this song but I am not competent to remember the mix and compare it to this version. However, I think that this mix sounds great. The topic is even more relevant today and the lyrics certainly make an important point. The video really complements the music and lyrics. I am working on a video now but I am having a hard time finding clips that might not violate copyrights and maintain the same level video quality. If you don't mind my asking, how to you manage this. Your video is very well done. Back to the music. The mix, arrangement, performance, timing with the video all are excellent. Your vocals are particularly convincing in presenting the lyrics. Excellent work my friend!!!

    Tranquility

I am not familiar with either Vangelis nor Heavenly Music but I do know that I like this song. I was so relaxed listening to this I practically slid out of my chair. Well done Bjorn!!!
  12. What can I add to what has been said above? Expertly crafted, performed, and mixed! Oh ya, and the video is definitely cool-- is that a commercial video or did one of you make it? Of course the bass sounds great ---- but ---- that growling vocal really sets an edge to the song. Brilliant stuff guys!!!
  13. Thank you Jesse! I'm just "messin' about" with the music that I like and I do like the Blues. BTW, I like the new song that you just posted! Hi ya Wookiee. Thanks for the nice comments. I very much appreciate it!!!
  14. Here is a number where this crotchety old cat is fussin' and fumin' (that would be me). Actually, I wrote this a while ago and now I'm even older and more crotchety. Suggestions, crit.'s, and comments will be appreciated. As I am want to do, I may have used a touch too much verb on the vocal (?). What else is new --- right? CAN ANYONE RELATE ??? or am I all alone on this topic? ? BABY BOOMER BLUES https://www.soundclick.com/bands3/default.cfm?bandID=963481 INTRO Listen up you all ---- You may be in the same situation as me VERSE 1 Who would have thought when I was 25 --- I'd still be here kickin' and alive Hippies said don't trust those past 30 --- How about today, can I even trust me CHORUS This is not Earth shaking news --- I've got the Baby Boomer Blues My middle has gotten big and my hair is gray --- Don't count me out, listen to what I say Life is a teacher and dues you must pay --- I know more now than I did yesterday VERSE 2 I grunt when I get out of my chair --- I'm out of style with the clothes I wear I'm even thinking about Medicare (?) --- My mind is young , it doesn't seem fair CHORUS Repeat LEAD BREAK with talking --- Oh, Baby Boomer Blues, Oh Well It's gray but I don't have much hair left ---- YEAHssssss VERSE 1 Repeat CHORUS Repeat OUTRO with talking Boom Boom Baby Boomer Blues (3X) I've got the Baby Boomer Blues --- Oh No!
  15. Sorry for the delay in responding but I have been fighting off that bug that seem to be going around my neck of the woods in the Tampa Bay area. Hi John B. I'm very happy that you did find it and appreciate your kind comments. Actually, I did use a drum track to keep me as close to proper timing as it is possible for me to do. However, I did drop the drum track as I was going for that "sitting on the porch of your shack just off off the Blues Hwy." feel. Just you with your guitar and Pig Nose portable amp and a couple of other guys with their harps. Maybe down the road I'll try a new more studio like version (or juke joint version) just to see what that might sound like. Thanks again. Hello Leadfoot. When I was but a "wee bit of a child" on a good night, when the weather was just right, I was able to get the John R show on WLAC radio. John R would occasionally play some of the Blues that you described and I just loved it. I still feel the same today when I hear it. Thanks very much for listening and thanks for your very kind comments.
  16. What do you know ----- I finally got it to play. I'm very glad that I did. This does have a bit of an '80's feel to it. Everything is put together very well (e.g., performance, recording , mix, arrangement, etc.) and best of all it is a fun song. Well done!!
  17. Hey Jesse , this is one of your best. There are so many things going on that you might think would conflict in this song, but it all works out and sounds ultra cool. Luv that banjo! I didn't quite catch the phrase at the end --- eat more potatoes????
  18. Excellent work! The fact that you did it in one day is even more impressive.
  19. Ah, y'all never disappoint! I agree with Kakku - this does have a bit of a Beatles sound to it. I don't how anyone listening to this song couldn't be smiling and feeling happy. REALLY good stuff lads!!!
  20. I like everything about this song (i.e., performance, instrumentation, vox, recording, mix, etc.). It has a great little hook, the melody is great, and the instrumentation really adds to the quality of this song. I believe that y'all have created a great commercially ready pop song!!
  21. I always make it to the end of your songs Wookiee. As I have said before, you have a great method for using sounds to create wonderful moods and ambiance in your songs. This sounds like the background music appropriate to some of my dreams. I particularly like the heavy sound in the beginning (it sounded like heavy breathing to me) that makes itself present throughout the song and in the ending. Really good stuff my friend!!
  22. "What Days We Had" -------- What a great story, What a beautiful song, What a perfect video!!! Excellent production all the way around!
  23. Hey Tom. Thanks for listening and I always appreciate your comments and suggestions. Actually, the guitar sound I was going for was the over driven sound --- like an old portable Pignose amp or old, cheap, tube amp. I gave up because I don't have a Pignose and the sounds I was getting otherwise sounded awful. They just didn't have the McDowell or Welch feel. So I gave up and went in for a more straight analog guitar sound. However, I am going back to the working file and try a touch of reverb (although I do tend to abuse reverb) to see how it works. Thanks again!! Hi Allan. Ah, you notice a bit of a problem between the guitar and vocal. Ya, the problem was not so much with the vocal but I am not proficient with finger picking and I was not used to the chord and note combination that I came up with for this number. Soooo, toward the end of the song my left hand was starting to cramp up a bit and --- ya --- probably got out of sync a bit. Thanks for listening and for the input!! Hey Ramscapri. Thanks very much for listening and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it!! No accordion on this one. It was the good old Marine Band harmonica. Thanks again. Hi Paul. Thanks for listening and for the kind words. It is indeed very much appreciated!!!
  24. I'll join in on all of the kudos given above. This really is an excellent piece of work. I went to the YouTube sight also and really enjoyed the video. Top notch and professionally done!

    Plan 9

Great use of synths to create a SciFi/Horror piece of music. The use of sounds does create a definite edge to this song and the dialogue from the movie really accentuates the whole feel of the song. Way back in the old days, here in the Tampa Bay area, Dr. Paul Bearer hosted a Friday night horror show on one of our local channels. I am not sure who was the bigger "hoot" -- Dr. Paul or the cheesy movies. One empty, unoccupied Friday night (for me)he showed Planet 9 --- I thought it was the best worst movie I had ever seen (I'm not sure if that was a crit. or a complement?). Nice one Bjorn!!!
