  1. Most Yamaha keyboards have a setting for 'local on/off' which basically disconnects the built in sound engine.
  2. Actually, the instrument library is installed via Native Access. Starting Kontakt in SAL mode allows it to find and read the library in the database. You should be able to just start Kontakt and scan the DBF and then load one of the instruments (violin for example) and test it for all the notes, articulations, etc. That will confirm if the instrument is completely & correctly installed. If not correct, then reinstall the library using NA. Ditto with the other strings. Then we can move on. Open a new blank project in CbB, load one instance of Kontakt with just one instrument. If it plays and you can hear it, record some midi notes into a track & see if it will play back and you can hear it.
  3. OK. Progress (sort of). Now; if you don't have any other Kontakt instruments, may I suggest that you obtain some freebies like maybe THIS, so that you can try to discern if it is actually an instrument issue or a Kontakt issue or a CbB issue (which, from your answer, is highly unlikely at this point). If you are familiar with the MIDI & Audio input routing procedures in CbB (which I'm guessing work for other VSTi's) then it is probably a Kontakt issue. If The Free Orchestra fails, then you need to submit the issue to the NI/Kontakt forum HERE. IMHO Kontakt 7.x has still some serious issues in installation & operation. Kontakt 6 is solid as a rock. EDIT: When ever you add a library to Kontakt, you MUST start Kontakt as Stand Alone (SAL) and rebuild/scan the library database before first use as a plugin in your DAW! Please test each instrument in SAL mode for correct articulation/operation first. Otherwise, I just happened to see your response by browsing the incoming list. Makes thing go faster.
  4. Oh great Bapu OZ (behind the curtain)... I'm pretty sure that particular question has been asked and answered ad nauseum. LOOK IT UP! LOL! (Altho I'll be the first to admit that the "search" function of this forum leaves MUCH to be desired in terms of complex functionality!!!)
  5. Just checking: Drop frame video (color, the most common) is at 29.97fps. Actual film usually runs at 24fps (+/- calibration error). You may have a typo there.
  6. Your extreme cynicism is duly noted and ignored. Serious inquiries & interaction only.?
  7. Is it my imagination, or are we having a steady stream of new folks joining in this forum? Are we really that interesting to watch??
  8. I don't know what your issue is; when I drag a named Audio clip to either the App Browser OR to the desktop/drive it retains the exact name of the clip from in the project with the addition of an iteration number; ex: "filename(4).wav" depending on how many times that I've dragged it out of the project to a different location. ends up in the app browser as this: and on the desktop as this:
  9. It also reminded me a lot of the C6 that was at Caribou Ranch... which, due to the altitude, was never evenly tempered.? Come to think of it, I'd have to say that my favorite piano of all was the Bosendorfer Imperial that we had at studio A at Chicago Recording Company. It was the personal piano of the studio owner... wonder where that is now?? Worst piano ever was the 9' Steinway that got pushed off (and I actually mean dropped off) the back of the truck one hour before a Ramsey Lewis solo concert at the Chicago Hilton. Seems there was a small issue with the local cartage & stage union that evening. LOL!
  10. Yeah, but, as has been discussed ad nauseum, that is pretty much standard Windows context menu API operation, regardless of the application.
  11. 1. Not a good idea to put your email addy out in the open. 2. Look into a way to alter the velocity curve of either your controller output or the curve/sensitivity of the Virtual Instrument. 3. If it is a 'real' acoustic piano, work with mic gain & placement first, followed by a hardware limiter (not compressor) between the mic preamp & the analog input to your recorder chain.
  12. No idea actually. To me it sounds like three v-layers. It's not IMO a solo instrument, but the 'tightness' control (IIRC-ATM) has a wide dynamic swing as I stated, from soft & squishy, to somewhat robust. Alecias pianos are more striking and percussive and useful as solo instruments tho. I'll forego any opinion poll, because my choice of a piano is heavily dependent on the material I'm scoring. Sometimes it's NOIRE or UniCorda, sometimes it's a honky upright. But do your thang bro.
  13. Or a brick wall limiter set lightly. Mixing well is both a science and an art. Practice makes improvements. ?
  14. Not to muddy the waters (for all those Piano collectors in here), but I have been somewhat impressed with the Spitfire LABS Autograph Grand for some poppy stuff lately. It's a well known and used C6, and the dynamics make it run the gambit from really soft and squishy to fairly strong. Free. Edit: and aficionados will notice the slightly off-temper tuning.
  15. You may have a Workspace that doesn't include the VU meters. Look in the help system for "meters" either VU or Peak.
  16. Q1; are you using only one instance of Kontakt with all 4 instruments loaded, or an instance of Kontakt for each instrument? Q2; Does this happen with any other Kontakt instrument? Ex: Analog Dreams, etc. Q3; Does this happen with any other VST NOT Kontakt based? Q4; are all the solo strings on the same MIDI channel/track?
  17. Bye Felicia... here's a parting gift that we got for you (from the professionals that make a healthy living in this business!) to complement your whine.
  18. Like the PLAGUE! Unless (like me) you have finagled your computer into using ASIO for everything on the system (system audio, browser audio, DAW audio, Video sled audio, et al).?
  19. Are you sure your spelling is correct? opengl32sw.dll is a graphic routine and should not be in the VST2 scan path. Either rename it with .OLD extension or remove it to a different location and test again.
  20. Definitely not a bug. Pilot error. Make sure that you are using <File><Export><Track Template> (and not a save function). Also make sure that the destination is correct, recognized by the application, and that you have write permissions. Troubleshooting 101; create NEW blank project, import stock track template. Rinse & repeat with custom template. Rinse & repeat by creating custom template. Report results.
  21. I would think that is a matter of personal preference and the amount of patience on hand.
  22. I already have. "Promo.html" is just the object. The container/close button/frame timer is evidently coded into one of the API calls from the executables from last update, and I don't reverse engineer those. Nice thought tho. That being stated, my machines are always online, and I have yet to see it pop up. So... if ET phones home, it's not a problem evidently.
  23. Have a look in the help system for "Input Echo" settings and set accordingly.
  24. I know that sidechaining has been available since at least SONAR X1 but... I don't know if you could get a 1909 Ford Model T with air conditioning and automatic transmission.
