  1. Thank you very much, Eric! It's gone through several remixes to get where it is now, but has been worth it. All of the comments I've received have taken sprout.
  2. Thanks Bjorn! I remixed this again just this morning (Sun) to enhance the drums, as there have been some comments regarding them. I appreciate your time and ears!
  3. Thanks for the suggestion! I did remix this with your thoughts in mind. I like it. Who does? (Ahh, but I was so much older then...) Amen to that! Thank you so much for your time and comments. Thank you, Nigel, I've gotten some good advice here! Thanks for responding. Thank you, Paul! You've got a good one going, too. Stay in touch.
  4. I'm going to look up Paul Thorn, he's new to me. Thanks for your comments! You're not the only one to notice the overabundance of the low end, so I remixed it to reduce the bottom and muddiness. Hope it works. Thanks, Tom! I use my car a lot to fine tune my mixes. As for the title, it comes from the middle verse and only occurs once. I like non-sequiturs. Mark, thanks a million! I did just remix this and put the acoustic a bit more to the left to give it some separation. Maybe? Thank you so much! I forgot to mention that the bass was played by my old friend Roger Fife. He just knows what to do without being told. The title is a non-sequitur, lifted from the middle verse - "live and love as much as you can if you expect to be born again". As said above, I widened the mix and the guitar is more in the left channel where it can be heard a bit more throughout the song, I hope.
  5. Hi Jack! Sometimes I don't hear something until someone points it out, which is the case with the drums. I don't perceive this to be a big drum song, but it sounds better with the drums up in the mix which is why I remixed it. As for the finger picking, you can hear it in the first four bars, I hope, and it continues through the song. Thank you, Makke, for your time and comments! Glad you like it. I don't know why DF came up first, along with many other things, but I'm yearning to know... Thank you for your support! Steve, you and Jack were right about the drums, so I turned them up. The new mix is posted. Thanks so much for your time and support over the years! It helps. Thank you, Kurt! Your words mean a lot to me!
  6. Here's a new song, hot off the press. In this song I actually play a finger picked acoustic guitar track (I suck at finger picking, btw), and I put a new battery in my EBow and went for it. It's a tongue-in-cheek look at life in general. As always, I thank you in advance for your time and input. Oh, I forgot to mention that the bass was played by my good friend Roger Fife, all other sounds provided by me and Toontracks. "Born Again" can be found here: https://soundclick.com/r/s8ibku New mix up today to address the drum issue brought up by Jack and Steve. (8-17-21) Another remix to widen the tracks and reduce muddiness in the bottom. (8-18-21) Yet, another remix to work on drums and overall EQ ( 8/22/21). And, yet another remix to enhance the drums, piano, and acoustic guitar (8-28-21)
  7. Thanks for asking me to collaborate on this song. It's been nothing but fun! A good friend of mine mentioned that the original version seemed a bit thin, so I added some calories. It's still gluten-free.
  8. This is a two for one because I liked both songs that I just heard. Unpredictability is your best friend.
  9. Good song and lyrics, Paul! You've gotten good advice, but it shouldn't be hard to make this stellar. Your songs just keep getting better and better.
  10. I, too, use Ovox successfully with the latest version of CW, but I had to have Waves send me a rollback version after their first update. But, for whatever reason, it does work. They issued a plug-in called Vocalbender, which is kind of like a lite version of Ovox that works well on CW, so you might check that out. I will say that Ovox is a resource hog, but when it works, it is unique.
  11. If you use preset grooves, check out SD3 grooves before changing the mapping. Within SD3, the mapping can be changed to map to many of the most popular drum VSTs available, so you're not stuck with one map. I often use SD3 mapped to my AD2 grooves which vastly increases my library of beats. If you roll your own, then have at it!
  12. Truer words have never been spoken, and you put the perfect melody to them! I really enjoy listening to this.
  13. Thank you very much! Good work, yourself.
  14. About halfway through this, I was distracted, and when I started listening again I thought I was hearing Crowded House before I remembered who I was listening to. Your songwriting is brilliant from top to bottom! In a just world this album would go to number one. It made my day!
  15. Thank you for putting this on video! I love hearing you play, and being able to see you play is the icing on the cake,
  16. I needed something dark and heavy right now, and you delivered. Good mix and performance! I gotta go to Wikipedia now.
  17. Keni, I have used AD1 & 2, as well as SD2 & 3, and after 12 years of using VSTs for drums I prefer SD3. The big difference to me is the fact that the on-board mixer in SD3 can apply f/x to individual tracks as well as the entire kit, whereas AD2 f/x can only be applied globally to the whole kit. I always start with bare tracks and apply f/x only as needed to individual tracks or the whole kit. With AD2, I have to use multiple instances of it to process individual drums where each instance uses only one drum, thus, I sometimes have to use 4-6 separate tracks to get the sound I want. Because SD3 has a complete mixer, I only need one instance of it to get my sound. The f/x are very good, with lots of presets for all drums. Over time, I have created a few defaults kits that I use as a starting point and go from there. A big benefit is that the drum samples sound quite good with nothing on them. That's all I can offer, but I hope it helps.
  18. As always, your words capture the vibe that's going around our lives at any given time. Your songs (I listened to the first two) are like comfort food to me. It's hard to keep up with you!
  19. One of your best!
  20. Quit processing your vocals. Try mixing them dry, and mix your instruments around them. And, please consider creating intros for your songs; starting them full blast with no lead-in is jarring. Your strength is writing unique songs, but your weakness is arranging them. I see in some of your comments elsewhere that you're still asking people to explain dynamics to you. I did my best to explain them to you, but for naught. Maybe a little time spent researching dynamics would be time well spent. Please take this in an effort to help and not criticize.
  21. The song and arrangement is terrific, and the video just enhances it all the more! This is the kind of music that inspires me to try harder.
  22. This is the best thing I've heard all day! Wow! It's working, and it just amazes me how you managed to transform yourself into a master right in front of us all. Just superb!
  23. Good name for this tune. The song is fresh and polished, but not overly so. It makes me want to come back for more!
  24. I didn't see this one coming. This will be great when it's done. Already, it's so fluid with a vintage, yet modern sound. Yeah, I couldn't hear the first vocal section very well either, but it was just right afterwards. Good luck with this! If you stage it then please make a video!
  25. I've always loved this song! It sounds better than ever. I've been somewhat busy with family lately, but I'll be back to listen and comment on your other song very soon! Way to go, Steve!
