Getting already edited status[*] when just open a project
scook replied to HIBI's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
The project dirty flag may be set because a plug-in is signalling "something has changed" to the host. -
MIDI Control Envelope Question [Velocity]
scook replied to razor7music's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Velocity is a note property so, a note can only have one velocity value. Consider using volume instead of velocity. Either CC7 in the MIDI clip or automation envelope in the MIDI track (which is converted to CC7 on the fly) or audio track. -
Too bad, seems to work OK in CbB.

Before the RPro/Session browser, I used Windows Explorer to search Rapture and Dim Pro program folders. It was much easier than using the built-in browsers, The RPro/Session browser is an improvement.

The image is too small to see details clearly. There is a view floating between the Track and Console views. Assuming this is the Video View, it may be docked by clicking the Windows Menu in the upper left on the view and selecting "Dock in Multidock" like this image shows. I use imgur.com to host images and link them to my posts instead of uploading images to the forum. Image are resized when uploaded but show full size when added as links to an image hosting service.

CbB has two basic track types: audio and MIDI. To be able to play MIDI through a soft synth and hear the audio result requires at least one audio track and one MIDI track or an instrument track An instrument track is not a basic track type. It is a hybrid made consisting of an audio and MIDI track where the DAW mostly displays MIDI input controls and audio output controls MIDI clips are displayed in the track except when frozen, audio data is displayed in the track when frozen MIDI routing to the synth is exposed only in the Track inspector MIDI tab the synth audio out 1+2 are set to the stereo audio input. There are parts of the audio and MIDI track pair that make up the instrument track that are not available when using the pair as an instrument track. To access these features use "Split Instrument Track" option in the track header context menu. This replaces the instrument track with the underlying audio and MIDI tracks. Any synth using one audio track and one MIDI track may be converted into an instrument track using the track header context menu "Make Instrument Track" option.

Windows does not permit drag and drop from the desktop to a program running as administrator. Could this be the problem? If so, either stop running CbB as administrator or use the media browser for drag and drop.

Assuming the notes are in the playable range for SI-Bass, randomly dropping notes may be the result of too small a Prepare Using nnn Milliseconds Buffer value. The current default is 250 but many get better results when the value is set to 500 or 750. Some use values over 1000.

Synthmaster 2.9 and Synthmaster 1.0 not being recognized

Could be bad paths in preferences. Pentagon I is not a VSTi it is a Dxi plug-in. The scan paths in preferences should only include folders containing VST2/3 plug-ins. Refer to my first post for the link to the preference help page. This looks like a partial 32bit plug-in path. CbB should use 64bit p;lug-ins where possible. 64bit are usually not installed in an "x86" folder. Sometimes providing an exact recitation of the message or an image of the message is useful. When posting images consider using an image server such as imgur.com s the image does not get resized by the forum. -
Deleting an automation lane does not delete the automation envelope. To delete an automation envelope, right click the automation envelope and select "Delete Envelope" Here is a video showing an automation lane being deleted and upon adding a new automation lane shows the automation envelope did not get deleted until it was deleted using the envelope context menu

Recording built in Metronome audio to track? (SONAR Platinum)
scook replied to Martin Vigesaa's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This is not the case. Nothing is lost by upgrading to CbB. Anything bundled with 64bit SONAR runs in CbB. It is true CbB does not include most of the plug-ins bundled with SONAR Platinum so, this is why the current recommendation is leave Platinum installed when upgrading to CbB. -
This is a limitation imposed by the ASIO specification. Only one ASIO driver may be used at a time. To switch drivers deselect the currently selected input and output drivers then all the options should be available.

Regardless of how the program is installed and updated, it will need to refresh its activation periodically. Currently the timeout is set to 6 months. Connecting the PC to the internet while installing and updating is the best way. This also activates the program.

If the pans show offset mode so should volume. This shows the effect offset mode has on volume and pan labels in an audio track header Notice the + added to the Volume and Pan labels when the offset mode button goes green (the color used in this theme to indicate offset mode is enabled)
-
Only if the user set up the shortcut. The default offset mode binding to "O" was removed several years ago.

It is possible to install BA and CbB from a thumb drive but there is no way to activate CbB without an internet connection.
-
This is the default. To add something to the file, key in an Option (ex. WarnSilentBuses) and a Value then click Set.

I think you're right, but then again so was SoundForge until version 12. I'm still using SoundForge 11 Pro with no issues, but I do find Acoustica much easier to use, and faster for basic edits. There is little need for a 64bit audio editor. Audio is streamed from disk either way. What a 64bit editor provides is the ability to natively load 64bit plug-ins.

I believe the BandLab support person got this wrong. Cakewalk never had the source code for V-Vocal (and several other plug-ins that were made by Roland). They were completely dependent on the Roland software development for this product. This was one of the reasons for the push to develop VST3 and ARA support for X3. Cakewalk lost the ability to include V-Vocal starting with X3 the first Gibson release. Also the mention of DP in the email does not make any sense. DP was replaced in the Cakewalk product line by Rapture Pro. The last time DP was updated (not including the installer) was in 2010. The synth was bundled with SONAR but was a legacy product before the sale to BandLab. It is likely Rapture Pro will be ported to BandLab and maybe Z3ta+ 2.

V-Vocal was a product made in Japan by Roland. It was not part of Roland's sale of Cakewalk to Gibson or the IP purchased by BandLab. It would be up to Roload to release V-Vocal.

By default F11 is full screen mode, keyboard shortcut "M" brings up the marker dialog. The default shortcuts are documented here. The link is also available in the CbB Help menu. -
Bounce to Clip(s) - unusual result
scook replied to Michal Ochedowski's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I am sure there are a few permutations. It all seems to revolve around the edit filter being set to clip automation when bouncing the clip. For now, to avoid the bug, make sure the edit filter is set to clips, select the clip(s) then bounce. -
Bounce to Clip(s) - unusual result
scook replied to Michal Ochedowski's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Looks like a bug to me. The mono clip on bounce should not happen. This video shows the mono clip bounce bug using CbB 2019-03 build 20 (make to include which version of CbB is in use when experiencing a bug).
