  1. You should post this as a new topic in https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/2-cakewalk-by-bandlab/ In addition to the describing the symptoms, it is useful to know a little about the setup such as the OS, Audio Interface, version of Cakewalk
  2. Properly implemented VST3 plug-ins provide a host bypass option. The button in the upper left of the VST3 standard header just above the plug=in UI. Docked plug-in should display track info in the tab at the bottom
  3. AFAIK, automation is stored in projects and project templates not track templates. Here is the list of things stored in a track template according to the documentation.
  4. Two useful shortcuts for views in the Multidock are Expand/collapse MultiDock D Maximize/restore MultiDock SHIFT+D from http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=KeyboardShortcuts.html#1306347
  5. See if the project loads in safe mode. To do this, hold down the SHIFT key while opening the project. This will give you an opportunity to skip loading plug-ins.

    downloading melodyne

The version of Melodyne suppied with CbB is a time-limited trial. Once the trial times out the editor will no longer function but the monophonic audio to MIDI and tempo map functions will continue to work. To access the editor or polyphonic algorithms after the trial period requires purchasing a license for Melodyne.
  7. The Anderton Collection was released with SONAR Platinum/Professional Nov 2015. The SONAR Platinum default path to this collection was C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR Platinum\FX Chain Presets\Anderton Collection\Processors This collection was removed some time ago. It was replaced with the 30th Anniversary Anderton Collection FX Chains. Here is a link discussing the 30th Anniversary extras https://www.cakewalk.com/30th There are two versions of Monitorizer in the 30th Anniversary collection. The SONAR Platinum default path to these presets is C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\FX Chain Presets\30th Anniversary Anderton Collection As I mentioned above the path to FX Chains presets is set in preferences. Instead of messing with the default path in CbB I copied these along with other FX Chain presets from Platinum into C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\FX Chain Presets
  8. The MIDI note numbers match or the note would not play. Neither the DAW or the plug-in actually work with music notation. They use numbers. What pitches the numbers represent is a display issue and the display is off (IOW note number 35 displays B2 in CbB and B0 in Kontakt). The link I provided above can adjust the display in CbB. I have no idea if Kontakt has a similar feature.
  9. It is up to the plug-in. Some have preference settings for which channel(s) they listen some ignore channel completely. I do not use Kontakt but my guess is it falls in the group of plug-ins that support channel settings.
  10. If MIDI note 35 is correct then try setting channel to 1 in the map.
  11. Forget B2 for now. MIDI note number is the important part. What pitch a number represents can be changed. The drum map above shows the incoming note 35 is going out as note 35 on channel 10 with the label Kick. Since the data works without the map, the map needs to be adjusted to reflect the actual data.
  12. If it works without the drum map record a note and check the note properties. It is either the note number or channel that needs adjustment.
  13. Running as administrator is rarely necessary. After adding VST plug-ins the scanner must run so Cakewalk by BandLab will see the plug-ins. The default is "Automatic Background Scan". If CbB is running, there can be a little lag from adding plug-ins to the scanner running. With this setting and "Scan on Startup" the scanner runs when CbB is started. If the Scan Options drop down in preferences is set to "Manual Scan" click the Scan button to scan the plug-ins.
  14. Maybe B2 in Kontakt is not MIDI note 35. It is possible to change the display in CbB using the Base Octave for Pitches setting.
  15. No need to perform a full install of 8 or 8.5. Just add the bits missing from newer versions. Nothing has changed since this thread
  16. Plug-ins take up relatively little space. Moving them off the system drive is not a good idea. In fact, the VST3 specification states plug-ins should be installed on the system drive and some program will not recognize them being installed elsewhere. If the system drive is too full, plug-in relocation is not the solution. Data used by plug-ins is another matter. Sample-based synths usually provide a way to install their samples on another drive. Those lacking this feature often can be dealt with by using directory junctions. When it comes to specifying paths for the scanner, keep in mind the scanner recursively search though the paths supplied.
  17. Windows has a built-in system for monitoring file system changes. My guess is CbB taps into this system and periodically launches the scanner based on info provided by this service.
  18. Studio Instruments are in a separate installer under Install Add-ons....
  19. Remove "C:\" from the scan path This is forcing the scanner to open every dll on the system drive.
  20. The docs are pretty thorough but sometimes a video is helpful try https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=cakewalk+automation

    Mastering

The included project templates have a master bus defined. If you are not using one of the project templates: select all the audio and instrument tracks, while holding down the CTRL key, click on one of the track output drop downs and select "New Stereo Bus" In the bus pane, right-click the new bus and select "Set as Default Bus". Now any new audio and instrument tracks added to the project will automatically be routed to the bus.
