  1. You don't own software. You are granted a license to use it per the EULA, which may or may not involve a financial transaction of some sort. Strawman argument. You are not required to update. Nor are you required to "live on computers." (Of course, what do you think you're doing when you are spending hour upon hour each day "Just.. get[ting] some tracks recorded?" Another strawman, as well as a slippery slope. There is no "constant online check-in" for CbB. Once every six months. Not even that if you can conquer your fear and connect to the internet once in a while while CbB is running. Also, explain to us dunderheads why subscriptions are "unethical." Really. Inquiring minds want to know. What is unreasonable is thinking you can dictate terms to those who do own the software. Which, again, is not you. Besides there are numerous alternatives. For the third time, you don't own software. You are granted a license to use a copy of it. I find myself much happier living in the world of what is instead of trying to live in the world of what if....
  2. Operating as designed. The old tempo map was replaced by the tempo track some time ago
  3. This time, the really good ones. Let's start this off with Judas Priest: Diamonds and Rust.
  4. Have you rebooted the computer yet? Unplugged the USB cable and plugged it back in? I have had my Steinberg e-licenser dongle and/ or iLok go missing on ooccasion and one of those always fixes it.
  5. When I researched the product, I must have missed that word. I will look again, but in the meantime I looked up "what is a perpetual license?" Here are just a few quotations I found. Obviously, there is a lot of info online including some lengthy user agreements for perpetual licenses. Evidently the terms vary from company to company. Some definitions say that a perpetual license involves a one time fee for the license v. making payments over time (renting, subscription, etc.). I do not know the terms of the Gibson license for SONAR Platinum (with lifetime Updates). Can you continue to use it for the rest of your life? If so, that would seem to quality as a perpetual license under the terms of some of what I found on line. I can still use Sonar 8.5, X1, and X3 even though they have been discontinued. (Those are the only ones I checked recently. I might be able to use others as well.) However, as far as I know there was never a rental option. They still work in 2023, but I prefer to use Cakewalk by Bandlab. If I cannot afford the upcoming Bandlab products, I have a number of options. Peace Do you mean to tell us that nowhere in all that verbiage does it say "for ever and ever until the entire universe collapses in upon itself and implodes?"
  6. You're wrong. The name of that company was Cakewalk Incorporated. They might have been owned by Gibson, but they were their own company.
  7. I see that reading comprehension and critical thinking are apparently not your forté either. This is the second time you've spouted off that nonsense. Nobody has said anything about people "messing with our DAW. " We're just calling out crybabies with an entitlement mentality and their incessant sniveling about the world owing them something. Adults don't expect that the world owes them a damn thing and adults don't pout when they don't get their way.
  8. Reading comprehension and critical thinking not your forté, is it? Go cry to Cakewalk, inc. Oh, wait ...
  9. Dear Jesus! How many times does it have to be explained to you whiners that: 1) "Lifetime updates" means the lifetime of the product (or the company.) Not your lifetime. 2) The company that made the "lifetime updates" offer DOESN'T EXIST ANY MORE. It was dissolved in 2017. Therefore there is no one around to honor it. 3) BandLab did not buy Cakewalk, inc. There was no Cakewalk, inc. to buy (see 2 above.) They only bought the intellectual property. Yet they still gave you 5 years of continued improvement and development FOR FREE even though they were under no obligation to do so.
  10. Not gonna happen and it has been explained why numerous times over the years.

  12. It doesn't work that way. Watch John's tutorials.
  13. Well, if having to go online for a few minutes to authorize something or having to install the entire 2GB suite on your 2TB hard drive makes you miserable, you need therapy. Mildly aannoyed maybe. But miserable? Get a grip.
  14. Meanwhile, there are people in the world who have actual problems....
  15. .ins files are only for hardware devices. Are you sure you don't have a program change message in your MIDI track?
  16. The interface will do you a whole lot more good than PC upgrades. Spend your money wisely.
