. . . so, you're missing your dog ? . . . the gal in the picture is obviously not your dog. I like this, nice clean and simple recording, very bluesy likeable and easy to listen to, what I hear is very John Lennon, if he were here today.

Barry . . . this one tells a story, and paints many mental pictures, and it reaches deep into the listener, young or old, I think . . . one of those rare poetic moments where it's painful and beautiful all at the same time. Mix wise, not sure how you could do it different, the vocals and lyrical poetry takes most of my attention as I listen, and the gentle guitar flows along with it, none of the other instruments take away from that, they only add to it. I sincerely hope more people of the world get to hear this.

So, the song is selling the car . . . it's got a very modern vibe to it, so it should appeal to the younger generation who might buy the car. You might turn the vocal efx down a bit to be able to interpret the lyrics, I can only pick up a few lines here and there, maybe that's the idea, it's more about the car ? You mention "explicit content", I'm not seeing / hearing any of that here, maybe because I can't interpret all the lyric content, who knows. The video is pretty good, and translates well for iPhone video, I do wonder about the volume being a bit low compared to other mixes I hear online, are you using a level of -14 LUFS ?

Ha, not a lot to go by with 9 seconds of a potential chorus, with possible vocals ! . . . but I kind of hear a chord progression, think you should bring that out more, and not so much of the lead part, which may ultimately compete with the vocal . . . but who knows, anything can work, if you can make it work.

This a good listen Will_Kaydo . . . I listened on my headphones and studio monitors . . . and It strikes me as the kind of song / mix that would work on a mobile phone speaker, so it should do well.

Is there an echo in here ? Thanks for the listen and comment Tom . . . I've got some more percolating and cultivating.

Yes, Blue Rodeo has consistently cranked out quality songs for many decades now, one of my favourite bands. John . . . an excellent mix from a live recording scenario, and I know how difficult that can be . . . and outdoors ? . . . yikes you have my total respect for this mix. Along with the video, I think it really captures the essence of UnderCover Band. (Most would have edited out that shot of the drummer with the porta pottys in the background, but it totally works in rural Canada) Please post some more from this project when you get your "template" working. Love it.

Hey John . . . thanks for having a listen, glad you liked the vocals . . . BTW, I like your Dan Fogelberg quote in your signature !

Thank you so much Lynn ! Always reassuring when a mix translates to the outer world, and thank you for your encouragement about my voice.

Very nice job on this one John . . . the chords and piano parts are well conceived, and it's a very clear mix. I very much relate to the lyrical content, also well done. Those staccato strings in the 3rd chorus really add a great and uplifting feeling, getting the point across about that "love of a lifetime", and I'm thinking it might be good if they were in the first 2 choruses as well ? Thanks for posting here !

. . . you're using "music" as a vehicle for your particular politics, without actually clearly stating your personal stance on these issues . . . in your Soundcloud statement you say "i need to dedicate this here song to all the people who and are still suffering from endless abuse! (spoken wordexperimental)" . . . but, when you listen to the "music" that message is not there.

Very well done KurtS . . . mix sounds good to me. As a singer I hear all sorts of blues lyrics in my head when listening to this, but that's just me, my stuff . . . your guitar work is top shelf here . . . it's funny you have them on display in your living room here . . . 60 dollar Strat sounds like the '57 model when played well like this !
-
Wookiee . . . as always, a respectful use here of the ether, transcending from the analog and digital domain, and onwards . . . (in other words, I liked it)
-
. . . and then there were two . . . congrats David, seems like you've ventured into something new ? . . . your music is always interesting, now you've added a new dimension, I think it's going to go very well for you . . . enjoyed these very much !

Can no longer hear YouTube if Cakewalk is minimized
noynekker replied to Steve Patrick's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Did you just have a Windows Update ? This happened to me after an update. Had to make sure Windows and Cakewalk were using the same sample rate. -
Hi Makke . . . I appreciate you're input to my effort here ! . . . and glad you liked it.

Thanks jack c . . . for your response, glad you found the mix "just right" . . . since getting the right mix is the hardest part of our process.
-
Thank you Nigel . . . I'm a fan of all you guys do, so this means a lot for me what you say.

Allan, this is a great little pop tune you've done here. It has a very catchy hook chorus, and I always like your vocals. I especially like how you used the triangle during the guitar lead instead of a cowbell, or was that my ears just ringing ? That Beatle harmony part does make an allusion to the 60's, but the rest of it is hard to categorize . . . I just like it, the overall way it sounds makes you feel good when you listen to it. Great work.

Nice pristine recorded bit of synthesizing here Wookiee . . . perhaps an homage to JS Bach, if only he had all those knobs and dials to manipulate back in the day. This is good positive music to listen to these days, thanks for that. BTW, my cat sends his regards . . . this one made his head tilt a few times when coming out of the living room speakers . . . high praise indeed !
-
Lynn . . . you're a real storyteller in this one . . . is that a vocal effect, or does you're finely aged voice have that purry and gurgly sound au naturelle ? So great to listen to, great guitar work, and as always the mixing really shines !
-
Hi John . . . very well performed and recorded. I identified a theme, that main guitar riff, nice nice nice, just wish you had got to it sooner, or alluded to it earlier somehow, but it's a soundtrack thing, so maybe it needs to unfold slowly . . . not like a pop song. It surely kept my interest all the way through, sounding very professional, there is a jazz element to it with the experiments you take the listener through, a grand blend of synths and guitars. Seems the covid "quarantine" is like the 1960's all over again, a sudden explosion of creativity in music circles, and it sounds like you kept busy.

KurtS . . . great of you to stop and listen and tap along ! Thanks.

Mr. Wookiee . . . thank you for the attention of those fur lined ears.

Thanks for the listen David . . . it was an emotional experience for me to record this. Ha ! Shaun Cassidy indeed.
