Another name for those sliders beside the output level meter is faders and they move. The audio interface output modules which also can have sliders /faders are to the right of the buses. If you can't see them drag the narrow gray bar to the right of the buses to the left to expose them. Also verify that your audio interface mono button is not depressed if it has one.

SOS 10th annual product awards voting underway
Bill Phillips replied to Glenn Stanton's topic in Feedback Loop
Every month when I read the Features Overview of the latest release I am really impressed with new features and fixes. For me right now, Cakewalk has never been better or better supported. And I wonder, how many other DAWs can be better and when Cakewalk will assume it's rightful position near the top. Thank you Cakewalk development and maintenance team! -
Thanks. That makes sense. And I got it fixed until the next time I decide to install an X2 plugin.

Yes. Thanks. I apologize. My problem was that I clearly remember being able to use the browse button for VST plugin locations and I can't now. I also realized, that asking an install question in an update release thread is not a good idea. Changing the registry key solved the problem, but the browse button is still greyed out.

Why can't I select a VST folder for 2020.10 EA1or2? What do I do to fix it? This is a new problem. I haven't had this problem before that I can recall. I always use Advanced install. My Cakewalk VST2s are all in the folders I selected in the G:\Cakewalk folder. See GIF below recorded for EA2. I have about 10 VST folders listed most show up in the screenshot below. The one in G:\cakewalk content- x2\vstplugins was added by the X2 installer when I recently added a couple of X2 VSTs.

Thank you! Very helpful! Did I miss that in the documentation? -
[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2020.10 Early Access
Bill Phillips replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
After selecting "Advanced" install why am I unable to select another VST plugin folder? I've always been able to do that before. Is this something I screwed up by deciding to install a couple of X2 plugins? UPDATE: Don't bother to respond. You've got bigger fish to fry. My question is related to the Early Release, but not related to the great new main feature which is generating a lot of discussion. So I'm just going to skip this early release and hope the problem I'm dealing with, which is new for me, goes away before the final 2020.10 release. If not, I'll bring it up again then. -
[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2020.10 Early Access
Bill Phillips replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
Thanks. That VST plugin file path does exist along with 10 more. And yes, it's there because I recently installed several plugins from X2 and that's where X2 wanted to put them. I don't think I was given a choice by the X2 installer. My problem is that the Cakewalk 26.10.0.061 installer folder location Browse buttons are all greyed out and I am unable to change the VST path to the location I use for Cakewalk. What do I need to do to make the Browse buttons active as they should be when the Advanced install option is selected? I think the only one I want to change is the VST plugins folder. -
[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2020.10 Early Access
Bill Phillips replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
I just started install and selected Advanced so that I could pick VST and content paths to match my file location preferences. However, I was unable to select the VST path and stopped there. The path shown seemed odd to me as well. I have three Cakewalk VST folders: G:\Cakewalk\vstplugins_32-bit, G:\Cakewalk\vstplugins_64-bit and G:\Cakewalk\X2\vstplugins. The path the installer was going to use was: G:\Cakewalk Content\X2\vstplugins. I don't have any plugins in the Cakewalk Content folder. -
Is there help documentation or tool tips for the Classic Creative Suite? I remember when these plugins were first added to X3, I think that the last line of the plugin description ended with: "For more information, see the Alias Factor online Help" as it does now. I was then and now not able to find any documentation online. I realize that they're pretty simple, but I'd appreciate descriptions of each dial including units, etc if it exist.

Thanks. That's good news. Do you happen to know which chip your Chillblast uses?

Any suggestions for a PCIe firewire adapter for my DAW PC? Also, is anyone using the Syba PEX3009 PCIe? It uses the TI X102213B chip which, I've read, is a good choice DAW applications. My DAW PC has an ASUS X99 DELUXE II mb. My goal is to add a firewire adapter so I can, hopefully, get my ancient MOTU 828 mkll going again assuming it's drivers will work with W10 2004. Thanks.

Sonitus Delay Tempo Sync Doesn't Appear to Work
Bill Phillips replied to Bill Phillips's question in Q&A
I'm obviously doing something wrong. Here's what I get. Notice tempo is around 86 bpm and changing, but Host Tempo displayed in Sonitus Delay is 131 bpm. BTW, what is the app you use for creating gifs? I was using it based on your recommendation but lost it when I had to reinstall windows. I liked it better than ScreenToGif I just used here. -
Sonitus Delay Tempo Sync Doesn't Appear to Work

Does this mean the Host tempo sync won't work? I've found a number of references that indicate it does. Here's one but it doesn't work for me. -

Thanks @scook. Yep. Continuous, created by dragging acoustic guitar track to timeline. -
Am I doing something wrong? If so, what do I need to do to get the DirectX Sonitus Delay to tempo sync? Also is there a 64-bit VST version of Sonitus plugins? See the screenshot below. The DirectX Sonitus delay is in Host Sync mode but shows 131.9 BPM which corresponds to the 454.9 ms delay time it shows. However the project tempo is 86.52 BPM. All these numbers are in red rectangles in the screenshot. The documentation indicates that the Host Sync option is not available for the DirectX version, but it appears to be available as shown in the screenshot. I also found the Host Sync option mentioned as working in another post. So I was hoping it would work, but apparently not.

For parallel processing in Cakewalk use sends from as many tracks as you like to as many aux tracks/busses as you like. Each aux track/bus has an FX rack and ProChannel strip.

Thank you. Makes iZotope's claim might be hard to support. But I guess it doesn't matter.

Wasn't Cakewalk an early ARA adopter, maybe even the first DAW to have the ARA Melodyne interface? And wasn't Apple's Logic Pro a late adopter? I'm asking because iZotope just announced RX 8 Music Rebalance ARA 2.0 available for Logic Pro. In the comments someone asked about other DAWs. iZotope's response was that there's not enough of a standard between DAWs for the technology to work across multiple platforms. Does that make sense? On the plus side both Melodyne & Focusrite list Cakewalk as supported. iZotope does not.

Key binding don't save user shortcuts.
Bill Phillips replied to Czeslaw's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks. That's what I'll do. Then I can import should they get clobbered by an update or re-install. I'm going to be running into a lot of similar situations since I've been using CbB from the beginning and there's a lot of tweaks I'll be re-doing as I stumble over them. Followup question: I read the online Cakewalk binding export/import documentation but didn't get a clear picture of how imported bindings interact with existing ones. When a .kbd file is imported will it append the existing bindings or replace them? What happens if the import bindings include a binding that conflicts with an existing one? BTW, I've noticed that the top online documentation search results are for Cakewalk by Bandlab not SONAR. Thank you support folks for that! I'm using it a lot now! I may setup a dedicated browser for Cakewalk Documentation. -
I'd use it but it'd another section of code to maintain. I just wonder how big Cakewalk can get before it's unmanageable. A better score editor would be nice as well.

I'm really liking the new feature that adjust the audio waveform as the clip gain is adjusted. This visual feedback is very helpful. But, the relationship between the envelope height and the dB Scale Ruler seems way off. Looking at the first blob in the top track you can see a peak marker of -14.1 dB but the top of the blob is above -3 dB on the Scale Ruler. Why is that? Can I fix it?
