The Markers view in CbB. It lists all the markers in your project, alas it seems you can't externally choose between them. I think you have to select with the mouse only. With Change Marker Properties, you can lock them to SMPTE (Real World) time. I wonder if there is a keyboard shortcut to go the specific times in a song?

If no other solution works, try recording on another track.

I saw on FB that yesterday was the anniversary of the release of Deep Purple In Rock. In 1972, we were living in Frankfurt and my mother took me out of school for a week to go with her to Berlin, a sightseeing trip. My father's job in the Air Force was sensitive and he wasn't allowed to travel to the East Zone, so I was volunteered. Took the train, and I remember being stopped at the border, and East German and Soviet soldiers boarding and searching the train. I wonder what they were looking for? We stayed in a military-run hotel and spent the week seeing the sights, hence the name. Checkpoint Charlie and the wall, the Brandenburg Gate and all the other points of interest. While walking along the Kurfurstendamm, I spied a record store, and went in while Mom took a break at a coffee shop. Deep Purple was kind of a new band to me, and I found In Rock in the bins and thought the cover was cool. I bought it, I think for 12 DM? About 3 bucks. Man, that album blew me away. Listening to it in my room with the speakers next to my head (I already had ear damage, so, why not?) it was amazing to hear and feel. Sent me on a Deep Purple album-buying spree. One of my favorite bands ever. I still have it.

I see you have no questions about this; I would certainly question why you can't select specific input channels. I think everyone else can. Can you list your gear? Keyboard/controller, sound card or audio interface (if any), and how you're inputting data (mouse, recording keyboard). Maybe a screenshot or two of your Preferences re: MIDI settings, etc. Your queries suggest you're an experienced computer musician and are baffled by the simplicity of Cakewalk and/or MIDI basics, or are a complete neophyte, which I don't think you are. I'm not the most knowledgeable guy here, but I get on okay. I'm sure you will, too. Lots of folks here that can help.

I don't have this device, but the picture shows a 'Mixer' knob, with 'Inputs' and 'Playback' as the range. That looks like it would control the volume of your input with respect to what the computer is playing. Try turning that one way or the other to balance the signals to taste. Good luck!

One doc I remember from my youth is Mad Dogs and Englishmen. I saw it ~1972 and, besides all the great performances, I remember how much fun everyone seemed to be having. Funny that I haven't seen it since, possibly because it's not in regular rotation on TV. That's Joe Cocker, if you were wondering. An acquired taste, to be sure, but I like good rock and blues. Leon Russell, too, before he got famous. To each his own. I love the Who, and Who's Next is among my possible choices for best album of all time.

In the MIDI pane. Under the drop-down menu (in red) is a control for what appears in the track pane. Select "All" to see all the relevant settings. Your Workspace setting may also affect what's seen.

While I don't know a lot about what goes on under the hood, in the past I learned that some synths like the patch set in the synth and others want the patch set in the MIDI track. Whichever was wrong had the patch reset to Piano when rewound.
