  1. When saxes were out of style during the psychedelic years, I had a P bass. With the chrome ashtray and the chrome pickup cover. I actually prefer them that way. I think they look better and they don't make it that much harder to change the strings. It was a heavy beast, the scale was long which improved the stretch of my fingers, I put flat wounds on it, and kept the damper under the "ashtray". I sold it along with the Ampeg. I now have a Japanese lawsuit era J Bass which I got used for little money because somebody etched their name in the headstock, but it's mostly wall decoration now. Playing bass is fun for me, but I don't play it much anymore. When I make my duo's MIDI backing tracks, or my Band-in-a-Box aftermarket styles, the keyboard is the best way to enter the bass lines. 2. Hot Rod Lincoln - Charley Ryan (the original version)
  3. Besides for flatwounds on a P bass, Jamerson kept the foam mute under the 'ash tray' over the bridge to keep the sustain down. Notes ♫
  4. Little Deuce Coupe - Beach Boys IMO a better song than the last one
  5. Little GTO - Ronny & The Daytonas A car advertisement posed as a rock song?

  16. Doesn't bother me. I've done some playing in church for wedding services. Music is music, and there is a lot of very good church music. It just doesn't pay enough for me to make my monthly bills. - - - - - - If you get a chance to go to Montreal, Canada, check out the pipe organ and choir at Notre Dame Cathedral. The organist is outstanding, and the choir is every bit as good as the finest recording choirs in the world. During their breaks, some dude in fancy robes said something in French. I went to a mass in Vienna, Austria. There was a pipe organ, choir and classical symphony orchestra. They played some Mozart, Bruch and others. During their breaks, some dude in fancy robes said something in German. As you might surmise, I went for the music, not the ceremony. I'm not religious by nature, but I'm not opposed to those who like that. When attending their churches to hear the music, I do my best to be respectful and play along with the sit/kneel/and other rituals. After all, I'm their guest. Notes ♫
