Latest few Cakewalk Updates

Thanks Mark - I am going to make a list of the recent things I have seen and I will post here. -
I've had a pretty stable system over the past few years, and always kept up with the updates. I'm beginning to think that is not a wise thing. Lately my system has been acting like the bad old days of early Sonar releases. Normally reliable plugins are sometimes crashing. And the automations don't seem to make any difference on older song files. The dreaded foggy white screen of death is once again visiting. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Thanks a lot for watching!

Thanks Mark - I always liked Bill Withers and wanted to do this song for a long time. Luckily I found Darren Garrett to help with the vocals.

Thanks Jim!

Interesting video and all of the instruments sound great. Very well done mix. Steve

Nice job Doug. I like the vocals. The snare sounds full and love the guitar as well. Steve

Very cool - it's got a Steely Dan vibe which I love. Steve

Someone asked could I do a normal tune with verses and things
steve@baselines.com replied to Wookiee's topic in Songs
Nice job on this. I like that flangy (is that a word?) synth sound you got, and the switch to minor in the middle. Steve -
Thanks Wookie - it was a lot of work and a lot of fun at the same time!
-
Thanks Lynn - I appreciate your listening and commenting!

Thanks Jack. I tried to capture the instruments as good I could to make it look like it was actually the players in the video doing it. What a cool drummer in his pajamas on that video LOL!

Thanks for the feedback Tom. I particularly liked the guy on the top of the wall getting pelted by water and acting like it was nothing. Steve

This was a really fun project - I did the instruments and Darren Garrett did the vocal. I lined it up to this live performance by Bill Withers.

Me too! Most of them anyway. I checked in about the time JFK was assassinated. I used to work with a German company, and it was touch and go as to what you could discuss with certain people.

I just wanted to weigh in here. I have hated audio snap since it was first implemented. It has never worked correctly for me and the interface is abysmal. These are just my opinions, perhaps the fault is mine for not working harder at it - but you shouldn't have to. From the buttons you cannot tell whether they are on or not, to the poorly named functions, to the substandard results you get. Perhaps it is partly my fault for not spending hundreds of hours with it, but as far as I am concerned it is much easier to just try to play things right or close to right from the beginning, and then make the small corrections in other ways. (This screed is based on how audio snap was up to 2020. I haven't used it since. It drives me totally out of my mind and I won't suffer with it any more.

Here is a video for a song of mine called Good Night, Chet. It's a quick trip through the last century, some defining moments from the 30s to the 80s. https://baselines.com/?p=5867

Very cool. One thing I hear regarding this version, and it may be totally against what you try for, but I hear it in my head with no vocal effects. I hear it raw, like maybe Johnny Cash or Kris Kristofferson....along with overwhelming effects free acoustic. I think this song is good enough to stand on its own without the effects. I like it, don't get me wrong...I just hear it differently.

This is great - I love the throwback organ tone and the harmonies. You got up there in range at the end - I could picture Mickey Dolenz clearly. Guitars are great and drum panning was very cool.
