  1. I didn't have an Autoharp plugin and the one I found was like 50 euros. Maybe I'll look around again. Thanks for your memory. I was the same age! About 1980 or so, my band opened up for John Sebastian up in Maine. He was a very low key nice guy. It was funny, because when we got home after the gig, the movie One Trick Pony was on and he appeared in it wearing the same red and white shirt he was wearing for the concert!
  2. Yeah I bet there are hundreds of songs out there with a progression similar to that one. 25 or 6 to 4 comes to mind. At least White Room had the 5/4 part in it, probably they added that so there would be no legal action LOL.
  3. Hi Clint - yes I can see that. Even today it would be exciting to hear this being played live.
  4. Here's my cover of a great old classic from the summer of '66 - what a great time was had by all - who remembers the 60s? Not everything of course, just some hazy memories! https://baselines.com/?p=6475
  5. Hi Wookiee - thank you for listening and commenting not only for this song, but for my others as well. I know it is difficult to find time to go through all the excellent music here!
  6. Thank you for the feedback! The guitar, bass and piano parts are mostly real instruments. I do add some rhythm guitar parts from the Native Instruments Strummed Guitar, because it gets a much better sound than I can get out of my acoustic. Both the real acoustic and the midi one are on this song. The drums are Superior Drummer 3.
  7. Thanks very much for listening! It is always really hard to get everything that Steely Dan does on a cover. I am sure I miss some of the fine points, and of course I will never be as good as those players, particularly on guitar. I always learn something by trying to get it exact. I know some people would rather change it up a bit, but I rarely feel like doing that - I can do it on original stuff if I want to get creative.
  8. Thanks very much Nigel - I'm not used to getting positives on my vocals! Steve
  9. Good job Lee! Just wait till your facing 70 (about a year and a half away for me - but it is on my mind) - How can I be that old...I don't feel old!
  10. Cool song Freddy - there are people who are unique that we remember through our life, like your friend. This is a great story.
  11. Nice work Clint - I like the chord progression a lot. Steve
  12. I saw the tag Indian and I had to check it out immediately. I was not disappointed. Which sitar plugin did you use? Very cool and different. Was that a female vocal or an instrument?
  13. Thanks Larry - Steely Dan is one of my top three influences. Steve
  14. Thanks for the feedback Tom - I know that I am not a proficient singer, so I tend to try and hide it a little if I can. I have to do a lot of work to get them even to the point of being acceptable! Steve
  15. Very cool. For me I would bring the bass down a little (hard to believe I am saying that!) - And I would do the same with the vocal. The vox seems to ride above the mix. Good work, good lyrics - look forward to the vid.
  16. Nice groove - now I think I'll go have a frozen margarita on the veranda ?
  17. Let me change it up and make the reference a Donald Fagan reference ? . Totally cool song, I love it.
