  1. So does one have to do 5 independent purchases? Plus you have to use credit card.
  2. Same here. They get a ? despite what it says.
  3. I get the impression that archiving them and trying to install later on would not be smooth like Kontakt. They have Originals which are very affordable so I assume that's the direction they are going. When it comes to orchestra libraries one can only invent the wheel so far. With the large amount of VST synths I see no need for sample based players either.
  4. Another major fail for me when I said I would avoid free stuff. After 10 seconds of the demo that ruined it.
  5. My pet peeve is the overkill of Melodyne on instruments and vocals. You can go through older recordings when stuff is not perfectly in tune but yet we'd rather trust some colors than our ears.
  6. https://www.production-expert.com/production-expert-1/why-music-recording-had-advantages-before-daws I'd love to see that Classic Album series.
  7. Windows itself is about 40gb. I think XP was only 4. I still use system restore but at the smallest amount. I should post a picture of the size of presets by developers. I learned to not set Live to auto update. I once had over 8gb of their installers. Last week I stared inspecting all of my Kontakt libraries. Developers rarely bother to use the Kontakt compression in smaller libraries. I went through all of the Kontakt libraries and claimed 50gb of space by using the Kontakt compression. Usually large libraries are compressed but developers who put out smaller libraries just use the wav files. All of those Soundiron Iron packs took up 8gb of space in wav format. Little things add up. I have a spare 500gb drive. I'm not ready to transfer yet wondering about reauthorization hassles.
  8. Windows itself seems to grow on its own. Somehow I went from 12gb of free space down to 6. I use Tree File Size Free to look up the large files. Worst offenders are IK Multimedia - 15.8 GB if you have all of the software. I don't know if I could move the Modo factory file without issues. The other Modo libraries are on a separate drive. NI - presets take of a lot of space. Reason Studios- another 15GB with some sample based REs. Many developer presets reach 1GB Izotope is Isobloat. Wavetable Synth presets eat up a lot of space. I don't want to deal with makelink either. 256 drive doesn't cut it anymore for a DAW if you use other software. I know gamers due to developer bloat use 1-2TB OS drives. Disk space is not cheap when you have to buy it. Be sure to check how much space is taken up.
  9. If you are from the new generation of kids, you get out a calculator on your phone. If this isn't handy than use you google it
  10. 11 lbs - interesting. As for size and quality it's hard to beat those IK iLoud monitors.
  11. I found the same thing but you explained it best.
  12. I'd be afraid to buy it since Yamaha support doesn't last long unlike RME.
  13. Almost reminds me of the Siberian group we hear at Christmas, I've grown old of hearing. This is a bit different with the lady voices. I listened to parts of their other stuff and I like it. I thought that stuff died 30 years ago.
  14. I'd like to know the link on that. I might have to do the same.
  15. Hopefully there wont be a barrage of half assed posts without links. This often happens when people turn it into a game or assume everyone knows what you are talking about by using acronyms or whatever. I check this stuff in the morning so my brain is barely aware. One of these days I consider challenging myself to stay off any deal forum for a week. That will probably be a fail. The only time that worked was due to 3 weeks of being in a hospital with only a phone and no charger.
  16. Just go with Vahalla and don't look back.
  17. My next AMD budget build may be onboard graphics. Hence the word "budget". Video cards are the most overpriced component these days if you aren't going to use it for gaming.
  18. Fixed to make it look how Larry does it.
  19. I use Tree File Size Free to see what clogs up disk space. VSTs take up little space. It's when you start looking at their presets. 256gb drive just won't do it anymore. Plus there is also non DAW software installed. Wave table synths with presets will eat up a drive. Another clogger is Live if you allow auto updates. I've had to delete those installers left behind. I keep telling myself not to fall for those Komplete upgrades. I almost went for the CE version but you acquire a lot of Maschine libraries. The biggest culprit is Reason with sample based REs. For some the makelink fails. I don't bother with it. At some point developers need to do things that a user should never have to do. I've seen some people fix NI's issues that developers need to fix.
  20. This should be a sticky, I'm too stupid to mess with this stuff. The issue which is turning my off towards DAW software is the addiction to bloat. Most gamer have a 2TB OS drive and 256gb is pushing it for DAW software. The rationale is disk space is cheap. Well yes if you want to compare prices from the 80's and 90's. Many users don't go back that far. Where cheap ends is the inconvenience of upgrading an OS drive and having to do that many different reauthorization schemes. That means contacting support and waiting on them, No issue if you use only iLok.
