Interesting re. volume - I may have screwed up the export so I'll at least sanity check that!

I kind of agree ? It did just evolve with no real idea of where I was going (or where I wanted to go!). I still don't ?
  3. I'd forgotten Our Lips Are Sealed - loved that song.

This started as a bit of an Ozric Tentacles-inspired idea, then developed a life of its own. There's a bit of everything bar the kitchen sink in there too, and it was fun to experiment with weird FX and crazy automation. https://www.bandlab.com/xoospacemusic/spear-of-argon-fc14490f?revId=5dc4056e-fd7f-ed11-9f5e-000d3a980352
  5. I may just have to redefine what an effect is ?
  6. Interesting question! Reverb: Audiority Xenoverb. I have it and it's good and versatile enough. HM: Valhalla Shimmer because I love it on my guitar, even though it's a bit of a special effect. Track Compressor: Tricky one - I tend to use the Pro Channel ones (CA-2A and PC76), but I'd be tempted by the Sonitus Compressor so it's usable in the FX bin in CbB. Bus Compressor: I'll stick with the Pro Channel PC4K bus compressor - familiarity. Multiband Compressor: Sony(!) Multiband Dynamics. Precision EQ: Quite happy enough with the Pro Channel EQ in Cakewalk. Character EQ: One of the Nomad Factory PulTech emulators (hell, go with the 5 band for flexibility). Delay: Tricky. Valhalla Delay probably (I've only just got it but it's pretty good). HM: Variety of Sound NastyDLA (also does flexible modulation). Chorus: I'd stick with the Sonitus Modulator as it's versatile. HM: Nomad Factory Liquid Mod II Pitch Shifter: Don't use one. Basic Filter: Don't use one. Glitcher/Stutterer: Don't use one, unless you count Cableguys PanCake (which one can abuse in this way) - this also does autopan which I love. Limiter: The old Cakewalk Adaptive Limiter because I know it. Stereo Imager: Sonitus Phase does it for me - again, it's good enough and quick to use. Amp sim: Can I put in Overloud THU since I use quite a few different amp/cabs (I promise not to use any of the effects!)? Vocoder: Melda MVocoder. I've yet to find one that is really good, but this is the best of a bad bunch. Saturation: I'd probably stick with the Tube module in the Pro Channel for simplicity. Restoration: Pfft. Restoration is for wimps. That said, I've occasionally used the old Sony/Sound Forge Audio Restoration plugin so I'd go with that. Clipper: Never use one. Bonus round: Utility: Cakewalk Channel Tools. Multieffect: Valhalla Supermassive. All-in-one Mastering: Not a clue ?

    Updating

One case where a junction can fail is when an installer uncritically tries to (re)create a folder with that name. It seems that the OS/NTFS can handle creating a folder with an existing name (I assume it fails gracefully) but doesn't when the folder is really a junction of some sort (yes, there are multiple types of junction!).

    Sorry to hear that.
  9. How could anyone resist making a track based on arpeggiated triplets when you see an article like this https://cs.astronomy.com/asy/m/galaxies/493637.aspx ? https://www.bandlab.com/xoospacemusic/arp-248-wilds-triplet-5849141e?revId=3bbd9ec2-2e7a-ed11-9f5e-000d3a980004

Really nice this one - my only suggestion would be to drop the "wibbles" (around 2 minutes 10 seconds in) back in the mix and/or take some high end off them and whack them through more delay. They jumped out a bit too much compared to me (and this comes from someone who is a VCS3 fan :-)). What did you use to make them?
  11. It can. It might not work but worth a try. Windows 10 is very good at handling this (firsthand experience).
  12. I liked this - the drums are suitably bombastic. And the rhythm guitar part has a hint of Alex Lifeson about it (I forget which Rush song though) - not complaining about it though. What I don't like is bandcamp - there's no damn volume control!
  13. It's really the apps, where the UI can vary so much - compare Gmail app with Outlook app for example and how message selection works. Or where send icons are in different messaging apps. Like it or not, Apple has enforced some UI guidelines which makes it much easier for Jo/an User to move between different apps with little difficulty.
  14. That is true - it was all I could suggest with the internal tools.
  15. 2 ways of bypassing a plug-in is potentially confusing. Why not do this: - If VST3 plugin has bypass as a parameter (do all of them? I'm not sure), then always use VST3 bypass in both FX bin and plugin window, and sync them - If not, or a VST2/DX plugin, then mimic the VST3 bypass button in the plugin window and have it sync with the bypass widget in the FX bin
  16. I'm not an Apple fan by any means (I find MacOS clunky in the extreme), but when you compare an iPhone/iPad UI to the cluster.... that is the Android ecosystem's UI, I'd say they've got a lot right. Mind you, my work provides me with an Android phone, so I'm not persuaded enough by the UI to forego a free phone ?
  17. Not sure how well this would work, but could you use the velocity MFX with a chance of velocity hitting zero?
  18. Hold Ctrl down as you left click on a note in Event List.
  19. Ah - you're right. I thought it was in VEGAS too, not just Sound Forge. Sorry! There is a VST grovel timeout in my version, but I don't know what that does (apart from seeming to be set to 20000ms).
