I've been suffering from excessive slowness in Melodyne startup since I upgraded to v4 (from v3) several years ago: the first instantiation per run of Cakewalk/SONAR before it, or even a VST scan, would take almost exactly 15 seconds (on old quad core Q6600 as well as more recent Ruzen 2600). Subsequent opens in the same Cakewalk/SONAR session were fast. Celemony support were unable to help. Thanks to a post on an unrelated topic in this forum: I can confirm that the lack of iLok/PACE driver/service on the system is what causes the slowdown: I installed the License Manager (no licences associated with it) and Melodyne starts quickly (essentially instantly). So if you have no iLok-protected software on your machine but want to use Melodyne with machine authentication, you will experience slow startup unless you install the iLok/PACE license manager software.

I used to have to do the full uninstall/install, but it seems to have been fixed in the last couple of updates (for me anyway!).

I know some people will say you don't need to partition on an SSD but I still do it for cases like this - it makes OS imaging a breeze (my Macrium OS image comes in at 16GB - if I included the rest of the drive (which also contains all my VSTi data (ie. sample data etc), it'd be close to 1/2TB ?

Possible to enter Volume and Gain via keyboard in Track View?
Xoo replied to GreenLight's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yes, you have missed something ? F2 or Enter puts the gain/volume into text edit mode, whereupon you can type the numeric value in.- 4 replies

I'd do your first mainly because backups/images become easier - I'm assuming that samples don't change as much as projects.

Can You Hide Ellipse Dots In Track View?
Xoo replied to Adam Grossman's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I did too but either misremembered or it's gone! -
I didn't go for loopMidi as it needs the application running - loopBe is just a driver (I used the free version as I only needed one port).
-
I've run into this: I added a dummy virtual MIDI port (loopBe in my case) to work round this.
-
(2) is neat - I hadn't thought of doing that.
-
Thanks - I was hoping that's all it was (not additional "sample editing" functions - like you'd get in Sound Forge, say).
-
Same tools as now though?

Can You Hide Ellipse Dots In Track View?
Xoo replied to Adam Grossman's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yes if the background colour for odd and even tracks is the same - make (theme editor/colour preferences) the colour of the ellipses the same as the background. If you've gone for different colours, you just have to pick one that is as good as possible. -
My guess is it's down to 32/64 bitness (and doesn't support 64 bit dll's). Try - in your case - C:\Windows\SysWow64\user32.dll

Search thr documentation for Track Template.

There's a cakewalk.ini setting that kind of supports this - it adds a cancel button to the plug-in UI, so if you open it and make changes, you can revert to the pre-opened version. It's not on by default because it can mean huge state saves when you open a plug-in which could cause audio glitches. EnablePluginCancelButton=1 It still seems to work in CbB.

How to process and route live input with Cakewalk
Xoo replied to Matthias Hewelt's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
And if you need to change levels before plug-ins, there are other plug-ins which can change level (eg. Cakewalk's own Channel Tools, which I believe is now part of the CbB install; or Blue Cat's Gain Suite). -
[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2021.04 Early Access 2
Xoo replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
Not sure where you get this from - Ctrl-D in Word, for example, selects the Font dialog! In Excel, it does some funky duplication. And in File Explorer, it does Delete, So definitely not an MS-Windows standard by any stretch of the imagination. -
A bit hacky but... - Set up CbB to use the RME - Close CbB, and copy your aud.ini file to aud_rme.ini - Re-open CbB and set it up to use the Apollo - Close CbB and copy aud.ini file to aud_apollo.ini - Create 2 batch/cmd files that copy the relevant aud_***.ini over aud.ini and then launch CbB - Save batch files on desktop and double click to run (obviously with CbB closed!)

[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2021.04 Early Access 2
Xoo replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
The theme editor "knows" what the current requirements are (based on Mercury theme, I assume) so doesn't need an update - the information comes from the CbB update. -

You don't need to update Theme Editor. -
I wouldn't go that far, but it does saturate the network bandwidth (my remote desktop session is very slow when it's downloading). But I could run other applications, including BFD3 standalone, during this time.
-
Upgrading from BFD2 - I've discovered that the license/download manager does at least support pause and resume, so I'll get there...slowly!
-
Posted on the kvr forum by Drew (from BFD Drums) - this seems to solve it: Open Registry Editor Navigate to: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\BFD Drums\BFD3 Check for these entries: FirstRun, fxp2inm_migration, and NeedScan If you don’t have them all, create them. They should all be string types. Set FirstRun to ‘No’ without quotes. Set fxp2inm_migration to ‘migrated’ without quotes. Set ‘NeedScan’ to ‘no’ without quotes. This will stop BFD from nagging you about copying across old files.
