Now that this issue has been resolved, another one has come up: my drum channels (10 and 16) on the TTS-1 were set to the Power Set, but as soon as I press Play or Record, it jumps back to the Standard Drum Set. Any ideas why this would happen?

Thank you so much for your input. I think I got it! Track 13 had its Input Echo activated (see screenshot), so after deactivating it, it worked ok. If you had not mentioned a possible hidden midi track feeding track 13, I would not have looked with the necessary eye to pick this up. I am curious, though: what would be the purpose of activating input echo on tracks other than the one that is being used for recording/editing?

I know, I know -- the TTS-1 is an old synth. But, I use it as a basis to start new projects with, and gradually work newer synths into the tracks as I go along. Anyway -- I have a scenario where my Instrument (E. Piano 1, midi channel 4) plays through two channels (including channel 14)! Even though you will see that only channel 4 is assigned to it in the console on the left. Can anybody please share thoughts on any potential remedy for this? BTW, I also need to know how to activate Cakewalk's Help documentation (It was installed, 68 Mb of it), but by clicking the "Documentation" option under the Help menu, I'm still taken to the online help site (which I find lacking in comparison).

Cannot export audio - sound card goes "offline"

I am slowly learning to use buses. At first, I couldn't see their use, but now I realize how useful they are for proper mixing. -
Cannot export audio - sound card goes "offline"

Thank you. Changing the category to buses didn't make a difference. However, what seems to work is when I select all the tracks before going to Export. Why, I wouldn't know. just one of those annoying Cakewalk glitches to put up with. -
Cannot export audio - sound card goes "offline"
Cobus Prinsloo posted a topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Hi. Every now and then when I want to export audio, the source (my sound interface) goes "offline" in my export dialogue. I cannot check the box next to it. And then, obviously, when I export my file, there is nothing! I cannot find a pattern to filter potential causes for this. I hope someone can point me in the right direction. -
Volume automation for multi-channel soft synth?
Cobus Prinsloo replied to Cobus Prinsloo's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thank you all for the advice. CC11 for expression did not make a difference, but when I changed the output to midi channel 6 -- that fixed it. I just also had to change Patch to the relevant instrument assigned to channel 6. I will change my preferences to RechannelMIDI =1 Thanks again! -
Volume automation for multi-channel soft synth?
Cobus Prinsloo posted a topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Howdy all. I'm trying to automate the volume of channel 6 of a multi-channel synth (the old TTS-1), as you will notice the green envelope line over the midi track. But this envelope has no effect on the volume. The only volume envelope that does work, is the master volume, but then it affects the volume of all the channels in the TTS-1. I also do not see a Write function that would allow me to change the volume slider for channel 6 manually. Can anyone please give me advice? -
Thanks. I am signed in ... hopefully this will be sufficient.

This topic has probably been covered 100's of times, but this site does not seem to have a search engine. I used Cakewalk's offline activation, but that didn't work. I'm still getting an activation alert. Where should we go to activate the software??

Aah - that makes sense. Yes, these are Midi tracks. Thank you. And thanks a lot for that shortcut key!

It may be minor, but getting this figured out will be a time saver: 1. I cannot type in an exact measure in the Now Time panel in the control bar. I also tried in the time ruler by right-clicking, but nothing worked. Surely there has to be a way to control the exact positioning of the play meter? 2. My track volume sliders' metering is from 0-127. How can I change the metering to decibels? Your help is greatly appreciated, as always.

Automate delay plugin on/off ?
Cobus Prinsloo replied to Cobus Prinsloo's topic in Instruments & Effects
Ok, at least I was able to figure out why the clip doesn't change pitch: I had to check "Follow Pitch" in the clip properties inspector. -
Hi everyone. I am now playing with the delay plugin for a soft synth (track 3), and want to affect only the last note in the linked midi track (track 2; see screen grab). But I cannot find a way to automate on/off functionality. Also, track 2 is a Midi groove clip, and as you will see, I added pitch markers, but I can hear no change in the pitch at all! Your assistance is greatly valued.

Ah, that makes sense! But I'm hearing a note on this track that I cannot find in the Piano Roll view, so I assumed it must be coming from Take 1. Now, to try and find that little rascal!

I am now in a situation where I want to get rid of a Take lane, but when I click the "Deet Take Lane" button, it also deletes the top track as well. (See my screen shot) Please help.

Thanks David, that's also a very handy tip to consider.

Thank you so much, Promidi! I see I still have much to learn.

Besides Cakewalk's fantastic features - the use of controllers is a very cumbersome process. Why is it so hard to get rid of them? The only way is seemingly by having to go into the Events List, selecting all instances of it there (what if there are 100's of them dispersed across a long track?), and then cutting them. That's what I had to do. I experimented with one note: I made sure that only the controllers (Filter cutoff & Env. decay) were cut. The note remained intact. But after this - I suddenly had no sound! The levels still show that there is sound on playback, but I can't hear anything. Is this a glitch?

Am I the only one missing the Track Navigator?

Fantastic -- thank you! -
Am I the only one missing the Track Navigator?
Cobus Prinsloo replied to Cobus Prinsloo's question in Q&A
Ah, thank you so much! I think it's a little counter-intuitive to make access to a panel dependent on a preset workspace. Is there a way I can place the panel at the top instead of the bottom? PS: I have already built up personalized workspaces, but now I have to start all over simply to get access to one viewing option! -
I simply cannot locate it. I scrutinized the Views menu (as directed by the Help file), but it isn't there. I also tried the shortcut to activate it (ALt + Shift+8), but nothing happens. Has this viewing option been taken away by the new free version?

So, in the end I just removed Cakewalk and reinstalled it - and - voilla! The metronome is making sound again! I want to thank everyone for your input over this matter.
