  1. I unchecked the Comp option under the Smart tool, when working with the clips because I read somewhere in the Documentation that this can mess with audio clips.
  2. Yup -- comping is active! The Mute tool didn't make a difference, because it wasn't muted in the first place. But -- when I erased small parts in a clip, then whatever waveforms were left, turned back to normal solids again. Weird behavior - probably a glitch!
  3. Have you ever seen anything like this: the waveform in the audio clip is transparent—it only has an outline? And it is non-audible. I made 100% sure nothing was muted.
  4. Yes - I tried both options before, making sure neither clip nor track were muted, but none helped to make those clips audible again.
  5. Hi John, I wanted to see the video you posted on this forum a while ago, but now it is not available anymore 😞 Any chance you could upload it again?
  6. Howdy'all. I started to work with vocal recording and things have been running smoothly until now: a recorded WAV clip seems to be ghosted (compare the righthand with the lefthand clip on the same track). It was a second take, and the previous take was automatically muted. But, I unmuted it rather to be able to mute/unmute entire tracks quickly. Since these actions, the clips have gone into "phantom" mode, and don't play back. I made sure they were not muted. Can someone make sense of this?
  7. Ok, the volume automation was recorded! It created an envelope on the soft synth's audio track (see screen grab, track 31). BUT - I need that envelope on the Midi track (track 14), where I have the piano roll notes for direct reference. I did create a volume automation envelope on the Midi track for testing, but it had no effect.
  8. No, I was just playing. I've done this several times with other songs according to tutorials on Youtube: when Write is enabled while the music plays, the automation is recorded as a new envelope in the Automation lane.
  9. HowdyAll I started playing with the assignment of controls on my midi keyboard to cells on the ACT MIDI property page. I successfully assigned the modulation dial on my keyboard to a VST plugin's volume control (it is in cell S2). It works great, and the volume changes in real-time while playing a track Question: how do I now record any changes in the midi controller? I tried doing it via the Write Enable mode for that track, but nothing was recorded.
  10. Hi all. Is it possible to have more than one plugin open? For instance, I have a limiter plugin and loudness meter in my master channel, that I need to have open simultaneously to monitor real-time changes from the limiter.
  11. I just connected my new Scarlett 4i4 and cannot be more pleased!
  12. AH - thank you! I was looking for "Master bus" in the Source Category - no wonder I couldn't find it.
  13. Hi there, this post triggered my curiosity: I checked my export source, which is also the h/w. My question is - how do I change the source to the Master bus?
  14. Thank you -- I think I can now make an informed decision. Some people here on the forum have spoken favorably of the Motu brand as well.
  15. Thanks for your input, it's good to know about USB2. I noticed that even the Gen 4 Scarlett audio interfaces still use USB2. I can get a second-hand 6i6 gen2. I suspect that it will outperform my current old Presonsus Audiobox USB 96 - even if it's just because it has better Asio drivers. What is your take on this?
  16. Thank you for these very helpful tips,. You mentioned above the target latency is not possible on my interface -- are you referring to my audio interface (Presonus Audiobox 98)? If so, I can get a Scarlett 5i5 2nd gen for an excellent price. Would this one be better?
  17. Than you, this has made a huge difference . Your recommendation to use Throttlestop, greatly ipacted performance (I just hope my PC doesn't bomb from overheating CPU's)
  18. Hi there. Does your Scarlet 6i6 have USB2 or USB3? Do you think this may make a difference in playback performance?
  19. Hi John, can you please upload that screenshot? It seems to be broken,
  20. I downloaded the file from the link supplied, and attached a snapshot of its properties to ensure it's the latest. So I just copied it into the "Shared Utilities" folder and that's it? If that's the case, then I'm afraid it didn't make any difference.
