  1. Hi, you referred to the NIC causing clicks ad pops - what is NIC?
  2. All right -- I'm surely but slowly getting there. Yep, I also don't use my monitor speakers, so I'll get rid of the Nvidia driver. Realtek Audio was the biggest culprit. I uninstalled that one, and now CW's performance is much better (about the same as on my old system, which wasn't too bad). In a few days I'll add more RAM - hopefully, that will also make a difference. I read somewhere that Xeon CPUs aren't great for real-time audio production, which is what my new system (unfortunately) has.
  3. I'm running Win 11, and the only power options I see are Screen and Sleep, and Energy Recommendations, which are all non-active.
  4. To delete the Realtec drivers in Reg edit, is it as simple as just deleting them?
  5. Hi, where should I check in LatencyMon for identified issues, such as a video card driver? See my snapshot after I ran a test:
  6. That's astounding, that a video card could have any effect on audio performance!
  7. Oh, I thought 32 Gb Ram would be sufficient for audio. How much Ram do you use?
  8. It's mainly Midi with 21 tracks, using 17 soft synths (and more than one instances of the same ones). There's one audio track containing several sound fx clips.
  9. Yes, I ran Latency Mon on the new PC and it did not pass the test. But, is there anything that can be done within this app to optimize the PC? With regards to the ASIO driver - I thought that the driver installed for the audio interface would be the proper or "real" one. How can I obtain the right type of ASIO driver? You'll see in my screenshot that I have only two options for fivers - The Audiobox one and then Realtek ASIO. Another thing - could the number of CPU cores impact playback performance? Although my new PC has a faster processor, it only has 16 cores as opposed to the 30 of the old PC.
  10. The new PC has 16 cores, while the old one had 30. Could this be the determining factor for playback performance?
  11. Does it also provide 16 channels with different instruments/patches allocated for each channel?
  12. Hi all. I am feeling despondent beyond words. I recently purchased a newer PC (not the latest, but at least 5 years newer than the previous one) to improve on latency and playback issues. But after the big effort to migrate to a newer system has proven futile. The few clicks and pops I heard during playback of an old song of mine, are now 10x worse! I've experimented with different buffer settings under Mixing Latency in Cakewalk, but that didn't make any difference. My audio interface hasn't changed -- it's a Presonus Audiobox USB 96. The same Asio drivers. OLD SYSTEM: Dell T7910 E5-2640v3 8C 2,60Ghz / 128GB DDR4 Ram with 512GB SSD. NEW SYSTEM: Dell Precision 5820 W-2145 8C16T 3,7Ghz / 32GB Ram with 1TB SSD. (this system supposedly has a faster bus speed, and this should have reflected in performance). Can someone please give me some hope?
  13. Thank you so much, John, I'll definitely check it out! It looks like, as soon as I route a second track to the same midi channel (in this case 16 with the Power drum set instrument assigned), the instrument reverts to the default one, i.e. the Standard set. I did not assign any particular bank or patch the tracks, as it seems unnecessary (it works for all the other tracks channels). But alas, after I assigned a bank and patch for the second track, the instrument didn't change again! So, thank you, guys, for your valuable input.
  14. Now that this issue has been resolved, another one has come up: my drum channels (10 and 16) on the TTS-1 were set to the Power Set, but as soon as I press Play or Record, it jumps back to the Standard Drum Set. Any ideas why this would happen?
  15. Thank you so much for your input. I think I got it! Track 13 had its Input Echo activated (see screenshot), so after deactivating it, it worked ok. If you had not mentioned a possible hidden midi track feeding track 13, I would not have looked with the necessary eye to pick this up. I am curious, though: what would be the purpose of activating input echo on tracks other than the one that is being used for recording/editing?
  16. I know, I know -- the TTS-1 is an old synth. But, I use it as a basis to start new projects with, and gradually work newer synths into the tracks as I go along. Anyway -- I have a scenario where my Instrument (E. Piano 1, midi channel 4) plays through two channels (including channel 14)! Even though you will see that only channel 4 is assigned to it in the console on the left. Can anybody please share thoughts on any potential remedy for this? BTW, I also need to know how to activate Cakewalk's Help documentation (It was installed, 68 Mb of it), but by clicking the "Documentation" option under the Help menu, I'm still taken to the online help site (which I find lacking in comparison).
  17. I am slowly learning to use buses. At first, I couldn't see their use, but now I realize how useful they are for proper mixing.
  18. Thank you. Changing the category to buses didn't make a difference. However, what seems to work is when I select all the tracks before going to Export. Why, I wouldn't know. just one of those annoying Cakewalk glitches to put up with.
  19. Hi. Every now and then when I want to export audio, the source (my sound interface) goes "offline" in my export dialogue. I cannot check the box next to it. And then, obviously, when I export my file, there is nothing! I cannot find a pattern to filter potential causes for this. I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
  20. Thank you all for the advice. CC11 for expression did not make a difference, but when I changed the output to midi channel 6 -- that fixed it. I just also had to change Patch to the relevant instrument assigned to channel 6. I will change my preferences to RechannelMIDI =1 Thanks again!
  21. Howdy all. I'm trying to automate the volume of channel 6 of a multi-channel synth (the old TTS-1), as you will notice the green envelope line over the midi track. But this envelope has no effect on the volume. The only volume envelope that does work, is the master volume, but then it affects the volume of all the channels in the TTS-1. I also do not see a Write function that would allow me to change the volume slider for channel 6 manually. Can anyone please give me advice?
