Update. I have been told that CW support have now been able to replicate this issue and a fix will be available in the next update.

Hi people I have CbB 2021.4 Build 175 with a PC as per my signature. Many of my projects have multiple tempo changes throughout the project that differ from the initial tempo. I have found that if I nudge MIDI events by absolute time (like 2000 milliseconds) at various points in the project, the Event moves by the same absolute time amount - even if its original position is after a tempo change. That is, if I nudge a MIDI Note that occurs after a tempo change, the MIDI Note is moved only taking into account the initial tempo, not the current tempo. This issue does not occur in 2021.1 Build 98 I have lodged a ticket with CbB support and they claim they cannot replicate the issue (I even sent them a video specifically showing the issue) CbB Support can now replicate this issue. I am wondering if someone with CbB 2021.4 Build 175 can do a quick test of this for me. I have created a file that can be used to demonstrate this issue. There are two notes therein. Nudging each note by 2 seconds should move the note by a different amount because of the tempo change between the notes. https://drive.google.com/file/d/11N1Swz_K56woWIppFd_WhJghlCToOiXL/view?usp=sharing

Please allow a mantissa in the menu item process > slide command to allow values like 2.75 seconds. Alternatively, allow milliseconds as the units much like you can with the nudge command.

You can also select the notes you wish to "tilt" the velocities. Then, while holding CTRL, adjust the velocity of the start or end note of the selection.

MIDI in to ST4 Max 4.14 standalone works fine here (PC configuration as signature)

Even with this downside, I still use CAL scripts for many things in CbB. Makes my MIDI sequencing so much easier and light years quicker.... In fact if the bakers ever drop support for CAL totally (though I don’t ever think that will happen), I would stay with the last version that supported it. Same goes for Studioware panels.

Does this offset happen if you try it with just Rapture Pro and freeze a track with a couple of notes in that? I just tried it here (PC as per signature) and it was all in sync.

I have never has any issue installing air products on Windows 10. I always make sure I am using the latest version of iLok licence manager. The most recent install is Xpand!2 and this was successful. It did not replace my installation of iLok licence manager. Nor did it bork my Windows 10 installation. In fact, there was an entry in my Windows Application Event Logs that specifically stated that an iLok licence manager install was attempted. However, this was aborted because a newer version of iLok licence manager was already installed.

By moving "the timeline to a particular position" are you meaning the move the NOW cursor? If so, then my “thinking outside the square” solution would be to write a CAL script to do that. Then use MIDI note keybinding to run that CAL. Mind you, the issue with CAL scripts is that sometimes, Cakewalk is not in a state to run CAL scripts at times. If the menu item Process | run CAL entry is greyed out, then CAL scripts will not run - even from key bindings. It would also depend on how you would program your “external device” to send the right MIDI events.

Addictive Drums 2 causing Cakewalk to crash from exception
Promidi replied to bde.Anders Madsen's question in Q&A
Not surprising. MME-32 is what you use if absolutely nothing else (short of getting a proper audio interface) will work. MME-32 gives the worst latency. -
Remember Loom (and Loom 2) uses iLok for activation. It does not require a dongle as it can be software activated in the iLok licence manager. Is it possible that you have not activated it with iLok? This is definitely required. Also, make sure you have the latest iLok manager installed. That being said I have never had any issues with Cakewalk recognising synths (including Loom 2). I do follow some rules when installing any plugin I only have one folder location for my VST2 plugins, and one folder location for my VST3 plugins I always choose a custom install - taking care to pay attention to where it installs the DLL files (Change if necessary) I never install 32bit plugins, ever - only 64bit. If a plugin is only 32bit - I stop right there. If the plugin requires iLok activation (or even another copy protection type), I do that first - before even installing. I have used VST Plugins for a while now. It’s extremely rare that Cakewalk does not “see” plugins. If it does happen, it’s because I broke one of the above rules.

Such is the serial nature of the forum. Maybe we need a new section just for updates.

Sounds like something articulation Maps would be good at. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=EditingMIDI.51.html- 7 replies

Is there DC voltage coming out of the rectification stage? (should be present across the electrolytic capacitor, if present)

Sounds like CPU shortage, but it’s not.
Promidi replied to Mark Bastable's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Some software insists on an ASIO compatible driver to work. A driver wrapper takes your existing sound card drivers and puts them into an ASIO environment. This means that you can use your existing sound card in applications that insist on using ASIO. Most professional audio interfaces come with their own native ASIO drivers. The only time you would want to use ASIO4ALL is when software insists on an ASIO compatible driver to work and your audio interface does not come with its own native ASIO drivers. -

This does indeed come with it's own ASIO driver. I use the 2nd generation variant. Rock solid here. If you get a new one, it should be the 3rd generation variant. One thing to note. If you do choose this unit, you might want to consider using the BETA drivers as the release notes specifically mention Cakewalk by Bandlab. Addictive Drums 2 causing Cakewalk to crash from exception
Promidi replied to bde.Anders Madsen's question in Q&A
What audio interface are you using? Does it come with native ASIO drivers. If so, then use that and completely uninstall ASIO4ALL. If you’re using onboard sound, still ditch ASIO4ALL and use WASAPI Shared driver mode. -

Addictive Drums 2 causing Cakewalk to crash from exception
Promidi replied to bde.Anders Madsen's question in Q&A
I just inserted an Addictive Drums 2 SIT and it did not crash here. I also opened a previous project that uses Addictive Drums 2 for its percussion. This is on a machine configured as per my signature. There must be something particular to your set up that is causing this. Can you give us more information? -

Details - the relevant thing is that it’s a wrapper, not a driver. -
Don't you hate it when that happens.....
