  1. I think it did pretty well for something that's almost 30 years old, but YMMV. Anyway, here's the result as a raw mp3.
  2. Interesting comparison. I even downloaded the same MIDI file from freemidi.org and recorded it through my Roland SC-88 Pro so I could compare my old faithful to the others.
  3. Skaka has been on my watchlist for a while, but now it’s in da proverbial house.
  4. Just in time for 2023? Really?
  5. Addictive Drums 22.3.6 (Feb 26, 2024) Fixed bug in nested drop-down menus. Re-added drum maps for Millenium e-drum kits. Addictive Drums 22.3.5 (Feb 6, 2024) Updated AD2 to the newest version of our platform Fixed an issue related to modifier keys on macOS Fixed an bug related filesystem access Many performance improvements and small bug fixes
  6. No, a lifetime key*) to Roland Sound Canvas VA can be bought for $69, e.g. from JRR Shop. I don't have that plugin myself, as I have a Roland SoundCanvas SC-88 Pro standing on my desk, but would that one go up in smoke, I'd probably buy it. How else would I be able to listen to all the unfinished material I have from the last century? And although I do have TTS-1 since SONAR X1, is not for me. *) Make of that what you will.
  7. Sweet. And now it dawns on me why it’s called Aurora. See the similarity to the word Austrian?
  8. In a perfect world, everybody is his own moderator.
  9. Indeed it is. So, does this mean that you've bought it?
  10. Depends on what you mean by Cakewalk. The current Theme Editor will work with any version of CbB, but it won’t work with Sonar.
  11. I think I see a pattern here. As for Aurora, UVI says: “Aurora’s piano sound is based on a world-class concert grand recorded at the renowned Guillaume Tell sound stage in Paris.” As for Austrian Grand, UVI says: “Billed as the ultimate concert grand, the Austrian Grand is renowned for its rich sound and exemplary dynamics. Deeply multi-sampled at the Guillaume Tell sound stage in Paris […]” So, I would guess that the reason for letting owners of Austrian Grand get a deep discount is that Aurora most likely is based on the same samples. I really like Austrian Grand (a Bösendorfer), not least because of its clear, dark bass tones.
  12. I agree. These days I don’t buy any plugin unless it’s something totally different from what I already have. I’ve been playing through the presets now for a while and I find Aurora to be really inspiring, although I tend to turn off Textures for most of them. As for the crossgrade price, I bought Aurora for €39. I do have the UVI Keysuite Bundle, so that might be it.
  13. Installed! Disclaimer: Any similarity to catch phrases used by actual persons, living or dead, or actual events, is purely coincidental.
  14. Just be aware that Superior Drummer is expensive and so are SDX Sound Expansions. If you're on a budget and up till now have been using SI Drums, Roland Sound Canvas and TTS-1, that might not be your first option.
  15. Although EZD has many great features, I also prefer AD2. The main reason I also bought EZD was because of its Tap2Find feature, which I find pretty convenient. Also, the MIDI Drop Zone in EZD can be used as a target when dragging MIDI from e.g. AD2. Unfortunately, EZD doesn’t have a mapping function for other drum plugins (the only software map option is General MIDI), so it can be a hit-and-miss. My workaround has been Toontrack EZplayer Pro, which I managed to buy before it was discontinued. It has an extensive mapping feature, including AD2 > EZD. Heck, it even has Cakewalk > EZD mapping, for those who might need it.
  16. I have AD2, EZD2 and EZD3. I think they’re all great. The fact that AD2 hasn’t been updated in the last years is to me of less importance; the 21 drums kits, 14 additional kit pieces and 32 MIDI packs available should cover most genres. As for MIDI packs, if you indeed want more MIDI in AD2, you can always buy MIDI packs from Toontrack and use them with AD2. To do that, in the AD2 Hamburger menu, just change the default mapping to EZD by selecting Map Window > Map Preset > Other Plugins > TT – EZ. You don't even have to go through your DAW; just drag the MIDI from EZD right into the BEATS tab in AD2. And hey presto. Of course, for this to work you'd also need EZD installed.
  17. A few suggestions: lean back in your chair, keep making music, enjoy CbB, have a beer (or two), walk the dog if you’ve got one, come back, put on your slippers and make some more music. It’s totally free of charge. Rest assured that information will come the day Sonar is ready.
  18. Is this your first visit to The Coffee House?
  19. There are already two threads about this. I don't think we need a third one.
  20. I’ve never before seen Softube TSAR-1R Reverb go below $39 so maybe this is the time for me to get it. What’s especially interesting for Cakewalk users is that TSAR-1R includes a ProChannel module embedded in the VST2 dll, although versions newer than 2.5.46 will crash CbB. Still, I have a dedicated TSAR-1R 2.5.46 installer around somewhere, courtesy of Softube support, so that shouldn’t stop me.
  21. Both Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt comes in both executable and plugin form. As you want them to interact with CbB, you need to use the VST plugins, and not the executables. The plugins will show up in the plugin browser, provided that You've got the paths to your NI plugins (VST2 and/or VST3) included in Edit > Preferences > File > VST Settings | VST Scan Paths You've run a plugin rescan, either manual or automatic.
  22. No , that's the thing with Soundpaint. It's said they will never go on sale, but the prices are always pretty low. Also, there are a few free libraries you may want to download. You won't find instruments like that in TTS-1. 1928 Vintage Grand Steinway Adastra Ambiences
  23. No, not really. I mentioned an instrument which runs inside Soundpaint, which is free.
  24. You have the Soundpaint Steel Drum for $15 that runs inside the free Soundpaint engine. Soundpaint is part of 8DIO so it might very well be based on the same samples as mentioned above, although you won't need Kontakt or Reaktor.
  25. Some text in the Control Bar would be possible to change quite easily by making a user theme, but perhaps not all. Most graphical elements are png files. This is for instance what the Tools Module's Background image in Tungsten looks like unedited. Unless someone does it for you, you'll need the Cakewalk Theme Editor installed and some bitmap editor.
