  1. MIDI only deals with MIDI note numbers, so there is no set standard what C0 means in a MIDI context. Different developers have different preferences. In Sonar you can adjust this setting in Edit > Preferences > Customization > Display | Base Octave for Pitches to your liking.
  2. He’s still here under a different name.
  3. Currently, no. Those cute little icons have been sacrificed on the Altar of Modernity.
  4. Poor woman. Whatever happened to her left hand?
  5. They used to be great many years ago. For instance, in 2016 I bought DS Audio Tantra at 60% off for $25, and all its expansions for an additional $15. In 2018 I bought Audiofier Abstrung, Vesper and Aerkord at 75% off for $12 each. Great products and great prices. But then something happened. The deals became more meh for each new sale, and I finally cancelled my newsletter subscription.
  6. I’ve got M1 and WaveStation so the upgrade price for me is $199. Seems like it’s $50 off for each instrument you've purchased separately up to a maximum of $150. But I don’t know. There’s certainly no lack of synths from the eighties and nineties on my computers. Probably too much money for something I’d hardly ever use.
  7. There are two ways to organize your plugins in CbB/Sonar. The default layout is updated automatically when plugins are scanned by Cakewalk. There are actually three default layouts relating to instruments, divided by either Category, Manufacturer, or Type. They can be reached by pressing the Down arrow on the far right of the Plugins tab. You can also create your own plugin menu layouts by using the Plugin Manager, and that’s what you have in your picture. My guess is that you’ve created more than one and the reason you can’t see your latest edits is because you have currently selected another one. So, click the Down arrow on the tab and play around with the options on the menu. The ones below the second dividing line in the menu are your personal plugin menu layouts. You have similar layouts on the Audio Fx tab, containing effect related menus. Also, the default layouts can be edited by choosing Manage Layouts in the drop-down menu. If you presfer your own layouts, it can be a good idea to have (at least ) one for instruments and (at least ) one for effects. That's what I have. Viel Glück!
  8. I haven’t had that much time to check it out, but one of the things that mostly attracted me, based on the video by Cameron, better known as Venus Theory, was the Color module. Of course, as they come as four different plugins, you can always stack them in the FX bin, so there’s really no end to the possibilities. But I’ve found that the Mix knobs definitely are your friends in order not to overdo it. And, if you manage to buy it for €29.50/$29.50, you end up with a price of €7.38/$7.38 each for really high-quality effects. It’s definitely in no-brainer territory if you want to be taken back to your old Technics, Pioneer, Yamaha, Nakamichi, or whatever your budget would allow at the time. Or, to simply add some character to just about anything.
  9. I’m sure it’s based on some algorithm based on your recent purchases directly from UVI. As for me, I nowadays always buy UVI stuff directly from UVI, as that will increase my chances of getting loyalty vouchers at year’s end. Yes, it might be slightly more expensive than buying from a third-party vendor in the short run, but in the long run, maybe not.
  10. I finally threw in the towel and bought that Tape Suite for €29.50. I was surprised to see that it’s actually four different plugins with almost identical GUIs, not one plugin with four different modes.
  11. Softube’s ProChannel plugins have never been free, nor have they ever come as part of SONAR Platinum*). If you’ve bought them, they should be available in your Softube account. Also, as Softube’s plugins always are authorized through iLok, you should be able to see them in your iLok License Manager. The only other legal option I can think of is that you may have had a time-limited demo version of these ProChannel plugins installed. If so, you should be able to find them in your iLok License Manager, marked as being of type Trial/Demo. But, of course, that time limit would have expired long ago. *) Edit: Well, will the notable exception of Softube Saturation Knob, which has always been free.
  12. F2 has worked that way in so many programs for a very long time, so I would say that’s the industry standard for entering edit mode. Microsoft Excel, for instance. Tab to any cell containing a value, press F2 and see what happens. Or, Windows File Manager; focus on a file name and press F2. Same thing.
  13. I found a boxed version of HALion Sonic 2 at a local music store during BF2021 for around $30, which got updated to HALion Sonic 3 upon activation. And yesterday I upgraded from HALion Sonic 3 to HALion 7 for $75, so I've paid roughly $100 for the full version. It seems pretty powerful from what I’ve seen so far, so I can't complain.
  14. There are two versions of HALion Sonic; HALion Sonic 7 which is freeware, and HALion Sonic 7 Collection. The difference is basically that Collection includes 35GB of library content, the same as HALion 7, whereas HALion Sonic 7 does not. Here's a comparison: https://www.steinberg.net/vst-instruments/halion/compare-editions/
  15. Unless you've already done so, one thing to check is that your Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables are up to date. In case you've installed some old, less well-behaved program recently, that installation might have put an older version of the Visual C++ runtime, that the Nektar program depends upon, on your system. It seems like version 1.1.3 of "ImpactLX88+CakewalkDAWControl64.dll" contain dependencies to MSVCP120.dll and MFC120.dll. That indicates that the Redistributable package that might need to be reinstalled for that particular version would be the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable. Of course, version 1.1.5 is most likely built upon a more modern VC++ Redistributable package. That might even be the only difference.
  16. Okay, thanks. Well, 1.1.3 is the version running on my machine so it can't be a general problem. But maybe you're using Windows 11?
  17. So, what's the version number of your failing DLL, and what's the version number of this new one? And also, are you using Windows 10 or 11?
  18. I just made a quick & dirty test in both Sonar 2024.06 and CbB 2024.02. Everything I tested seems to work; I can e.g. navigate in Cakewalk using the transport keys on my LX88+, as well as twist the knobs in my plugins from my keyboard, using MIDI Learn. Windows 10 Pro 22H2, fully patched, including the 2024.06 cumulative upgrade (KB5039211).
  19. I guess you’re talking about the file “ImpactLX88+CakewalkDAWControl64.dll” located in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces. FWIW, I’ve had version 1.1.3.0 of that software running on my three computers for years without any problem. If that dll indeed is the cause of the problem, I would simply try to reinstall it.
  20. The font doesn't matter. The capitalization does.
  21. That's a fair assumption, but...I've a got copy of The Power in Cakewalk Sonar by William (Bill) Edstrom Jr., that was published in 2013. [...] I'm guessing the current Sonar has changed a bit since then and that there may still be a few stragglers using the original version, which could cause confusion. Here's a simple rule: if it's spelled "SONAR", it's the release up until and including SONAR Platinum. If it's spelled "Sonar", it's the version that was introduced 2024. Or, so it should be. BTW, Mr. Edstrom got it right.
  22. A long as CbB works, I’m in. Should a permanent license option for Sonar be presented, I'd buy it. Should CbB for some reason stop working without a permanent license option being available for Sonar, I would evaluate my alternatives. But the statement made by Jesse Jost, about CbB remaining free and even receive essential maintenance updates, is to me reassuring enough to keep using it.
  23. Maybe you know there are other parts of the Cakewalk forum than the Deals section? I think the first mentioning of it was posted here, long before this thread was created. Soon after, other threads were created, like this one. Also, it was discussed extensively in other already existing threads, like this one. That it didn't get immediate attention here in the Deals forum isn't that surprising, since so many here use other DAWs.
