First midi note / audio on playback not playing
Canopus replied to Jess's topic in General Music Discussion
Well, I've got a Behringer UMC404HD as well (although I'm still using ASIO driver version 5.51.0). I inserted EZdrummer 3 into a new, empty project in CbB and dragged a groove called 'Fills 01' to position 1:01:000. I can hear all hits, including the first one, from the very beginning and not only from the first iteration of the loop. -
First midi note / audio on playback not playing

Maybe check the Event List to see if there are a large number of events that needs to be processed at the very beginning of the MIDI clip? -
I have no experience of Musescore, but I do have both UVI Workstation and UVI Orchestral Suite. If you have inserted the MIDI from Musescore into CbB, it should be, just as John said, a matter of assigning each MIDI track to a unique MIDI channel, say 1-5, each containing a different instrument. There are actually two ways to do this in UVI Workstation; you can have a separate instance of UVI Workstation on each track, each with its own instrument, or you can setup a multi containing all instruments in one single instance. I will explain the less intuitive option here, the Multi, as separate instances on each track are pretty straight-forward. In my example below I have loaded Orchestral Suite, clicked on MULTI and in the slots available chosen the instruments I want to use. There are four default slots but you can add additional slots by clicking the Plus button. In my example, I have added one additional slot, or a total of five. You can have up to 16 MIDI channels. The receiving MIDI channels (in my example MIDI channel 1-5, called A1-A5) will be increased automatically for each slot, but you can always change that if needed. In MULTI you can also change volume, pan etc. for each instrument. Finally, you go to the MAIN tab and make adjustments such as selecting articulation for each instrument. I my example I have selected Bass Wheel > Sustain. Articulations can be changed over time through the red key switches on the left (A-1 to G#-1). Effects are added in the EFFECTS tab, if needed. Of course, as I have no idea your level of experience, I may have said thing you find very basic. Good luck.

I think that @Starship Krupa in the thread below mentioned that he had a copy of it and can send it over if requested by PM. Or, even better, if he maybe can post a permanent link to the file in the Instrument Definition area.

VST3 plugins have the file extension "vst3" and not "dll". DLL files placed in the Common Files\VST3 folder are by design not scanned by CbB, as they potentially are VST2 plugins. Maybe what you believe are VST3 plugins in fact are VST2? Just my two cents.

I don’t think you’ll find downloads for Sonar older than 8.5 in your account. To install those, you’ll need your installation disks.
-
As I explained above, you need the updated Cakewalk Command Center. It was updated in 2023 just because the authorization server was changed.
-
To elaborate on Will’s answer; if you own Dimension Pro and/or Z3ta/Z3ta+, you can use Cakewalk Command Center to download and install. However, you will need the updated CCC version 1.1.8.1 to be able to activate them. If you don’t already own them, you’re out of luck; they are no longer available for purchase. If you by Softube stuff mean the plugins that also worked as ProChannel modules (Passive-Active Pack, FET Compressor and TSAR-1R), all Softube's ProChannel versions after version 2.5.46 unfortunately makes Cakewalk crash when invoked. Also, as for FET Compressor, it has been updated to version Mk II and I don’t think that version supports ProChannel.

Well, to be fair, if it hadn’t been for this thread, I wouldn’t have known the fax number to Thomann.

Thanks, Milton. As for your question; once the Sonar admins have added you to the proper forum group, I'm sure they will give you all the information you need to be able to participate.
-
As you've signed the NDA, you should know that you do not discuss Sonar outside the private Sonar Beta discussion group. It's really that simple.
-
Not that I know of. Besides, as your number of plugins increase over time, you will start to appreciate that you only see effects or instruments, and not both. Also, I personally keep my Instrument custom layout structured by developer, while my Effect custom layout is structured by type of effect. That works well for me.

I used to set the MIDI Channel to 1 when recording, and then change to another MIDI channel when done. Now I more often have multiple instances of Kontakt. Yes, it's probably more resource consuming, but I've got a pretty powerful computer. As for Session String Pro (or, indeed, any Kontakt library), click the Info ("i") button, and the MIDI Channel field will be displayed. On the top image you've got the Snapshot (Camera) button selected.

Arturia Matrixbrute Noir Analog Synthesizer for $1299

Mm, I don’t know. Maybe if it had some more knobs and buttons. -
Internal error mystery when exporting a track
Canopus replied to RICHARD HUTCHINS's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Considering the vague error message, this error is probably thrown by Windows, or the Lame encoder, using a numeric code that simply states an unspecified error occurred when trying to save the file. Of course, if the error code doesn’t exactly explain why the file couldn’t be saved, it’s impossible for Cakewalk to forward any such details to the user when the error is catched (well, at least without adding its own time-consuming sleuthing). But adding a few examples of possible reasons when the "Can't save" message is about to be displayed by Cakewalk, I imagine might not only be possible, but also useful. Just my two euros (yes, inflation). -
This could have been solved creating a directory junction by use of a symbolic link.

Internal error mystery when exporting a track

Maybe it would be a good idea to add that in some form to the error message. It's more descriptive than "Can't save" and would probably give most users enough ideas to understand what needs to be done. -
I own both V Collection 9 and Pigments. My crossgrade price for FX Collection 4 is €69. That’s 30 effects I might actually never use.

So you didn't see the Discord link to Cakewalk Next you were given by OutrageProductions in one of the first posts of this thread?
-
But do note the requirements: 90GB.

Discussions about Next should be done on Discord, not on this forum. But to answer your question, if you don’t find scoring in Next, it’s either because it hasn’t yet been implemented (remember, it’s a work in progress), or, more likely, that Next’s primary target group probably isn’t old-school musicians, able to read sheet music.
