As far as I can tell, there is no need to update user themes where the Archive image has never been modified. I’ve checked my themes and all of them display the new eight-state Archive button as I would expect without any theme update. These themes (Gran Vista, Carbon, and Lead) simply inherit the new eight-state button from Mercury.

Today's libraries are often pretty complex with lots of layers, scripting and hopefully a good user interface. Getting other's advice on libraries is invaluable, IMO. "Using your ears" tells you about how a library sounds, not how it is scripted or how it is to play, which is pretty important, especially for complex libraries like string libraries.
To me it’s all about the end result, not the way to get there. Oh, well.

I have a lot of libraries from 8DIO, including the Claire Woodwind bundle mentioned above. I think it’s great. I have only been disappointed once after buying an 8DIO library and that was indeed a waste of $8. I have to admit though that I never ask for other people’s opinion whether a library is good or not. Call me introvert, but I only ask my own ears.

I think Steinberg grants you an automatic upgrade to the version that is current at the time of registration (that's what I got when I registered a cheap, old copy of Dorico 1.0 that I found and they gave me a free upgrade to 3.5)
The thought has crossed my mind. Problem is I forgot my eLicenser in my vacation home when I went back home in mid-October, so I won’t be able to see if there’s a grace period for HALion Sonic until I go back there in March and can activate the license. Indeed, that was a senior moment.
Edit: When I finally went back and could register my copy of HALion Sonic 2 at Steinberg I got upgraded to HALion Sonic 3 automatically. Not a bad deal for $30.

I thought this would be the first BF in seven years that I didn’t buy anything music related. However, late last Sunday I found a boxed version of Steinberg HALion Sonic 2 for just over $30 at a local reseller. My guess is that they had found a single dusty item on the floor in a corner somewhere. I know that it’s antediluvian and that HALion Sonic 3 was released more than four years ago, but should I ever want to upgrade, this license ought to be my ticket to a great price.
Oh, and I bought a new TV. OLED. Black is back.

Last year I got a €20 loyalty voucher after having bought quite a lot of stuff directly from UVI. The amount was less than I’d expected based on previous years, so I asked their support what thresholds they had. The reply was that the amount could vary from year to year, but in 2020 a purchase amount between €149 and €199 (where I was) indeed gave a €20 voucher. That made me realize that it might be better to buy from third-party resellers after all. Loyalty must work in both directions.
Just my twenty euros.

Thanks! Now I ran the XLN Online Installer and sure enough, I got a new version of Addictive Keys. Version 1.5.0 build 211115 was installed (so compiled only five days ago). And sure enough, in this version AK is scalable!
So much for "abandonware".

Addictive Keys is scalable. And last year they refined the images some more to make the scaling sharper
That IS strange. I have AK version 1.4.3 build 210318 (March 18, 2021 I would guess) and this is how it looks on my computer. No "UI Scaling & Settings" menu option available for me. Do you have some other version?
I wonder whether it has anything to do with Open GL. On my desktop I've got an AMD Radeon HD 7700 with 2GB VRAM. Not very impressive, but still good enough I would assume. I even started up my brand new Lenovo ThinkPad laptop which has a dedicated nVidia GeForce card but the AK menu looked the same. Maybe I should contact XLN Audio support. -

No idea, I've just come back from a hiatus and somehow I stumbled on it [AD2 GUI scaling] the other day pretty quickly. But I like it a a lot.
According to XLN Audio’s Facebook page, AD2 has apparently had a scalable GUI since 2015. Strange that I’ve never noticed it. XO is of course scalable, but when I check the other plug-ins (Addictive Keys, Addictive Trigger, DS-10, RC-20) it seems like every plug-in
except Addictive Keysis scalable. The selected scaling is kept between DAW sessions.Too bad they stopped at AK.Edit: Thanks to @Kamikaze I ran the XLN Online Installer where I got a new version of AK (1.5.0) where the GUI indeed is resizeable.

Everything. Even the all the midi packs?
Yes, every drum kit, every MIDI pak, every kit piece, every effect, and on top of that also Addictive Trigger, XO and all Addictive Keys. The works.

I have everything XLN Audio has to offer. Yes, everything. That’s how much I like them.

This will save me some money (since XO is more expensive, even on sale).
Using code GROUP at JRR Shop you can currently get XO for just $53.76. Just sayin’.

I’ve finally realized that the 2x (Plug-In Upsampling) button in the Mix Module is an override button as well. As I never use that button it wasn’t clear to me. For consistency that button has now been modified in the Lead theme similarly to the two buttons mentioned recently in this thread.

Imported MIDI
in Q&A
From the user documentation:
QuoteBase Octave for Pitches. There is no industry standard for numbering octaves. By default, Cakewalk calls MIDI note 0 (the lowest possible note) C0. The Yamaha FB-01, for example, shows MIDI note 0 as C-2 (C negative 2). To match Cakewalk to that standard, set Base Octave to –2.
You do that in Edit > Preferences > Customization > Display.
An optional way to get the same result by moving the MIDI notes in the PRV would be to select all notes in the track, press Shift and then drag the notes the number of octaves or semitones you need. By pressing Shift the notes will not move horizontally in the PRV during the operation, so the time is kept, thus overruling any Snap setting you may have.

Why not keep blue highlighting? To me, the line through (good idea!) is good enough - maybe make it more obvious though?
I tried a few different colour/strikethrough combinations but none of them looked as good as I would have wanted. In the end I went for a traffic light metaphor using a red highlight. Considering that the strikethrough was red in inactive state, it also made sense to keep and simply amplify that colour in the button’s active state. At the same time, keeping the number of colours down minimized the risk of having the active button look too “busy”.

No changes have been made to CbB 2021.11 that require theme updates but I've made two changes nonetheless. This is purely a maintenance update, triggered by comments in two different user threads in the CbB forum.

The total number of events at the bottom of the Event List was very hard to see as the text was rendered in a light-gray colour on a bright background. That text has now been slightly darkened to stand out better. The problem is that the same text colour is used elsewhere on a dark background, so perfect contrast is impossible to get in both locations. See below, before and after. On a side note, the problem with the Event List counter is actually found in the default theme Tungsten as well.
-
I’m not a big fan of theme changes that radically deviates from the graphical elements used in the default GUI, as such changes might make the user documentation hard to follow. However, I’m prepared to make exceptions when the default GUI in itself is contradictory to what most users probably would expect. A recent thread regarding the PDC (delay compensation) button in the Mix module has highlighted one such problem. When the PDC button is activated it actually turns PDC off. The FX button in the Mix module has the same problem; when it’s activated, it actually turns all effects off. I have tried to remedy these problems by updating those two buttons with a strikethrough in all my themes. I also changed the colour to red when activated. Here’s an example that shows before and after in Gran Vista and Lead:
Maybe not as visually appealing, but in this case it's function before form. YMMV.

It’s a scam. This email was mentioned on the official Cakewalk Facebook page on September 16.
QuoteIf you receive an email like this coming from ‘BandLab’ offering a collaboration with you for Cakewalk, this is a scam! Please do not open any links they send and definitely do not respond to them. We have attached some screenshots with examples of these emails. Thank you!

just picked it up .....wow the GUI is ugly !
That was my first thought as well. I really love the GUI of Tantra 1 and Thorn (as well as Diversion, although I don't have that one). Too bad every GUI has to be dark and boring nowadays. Still, it could have been worse. Much worse.

Exactly. It was the word “any” in the OP that caught my attention and I thought needed a comment.
