Did you check out the video tutorials yet? https://www.tracktion.com/training/videos They can demonstrate much more than a few more comments on this forum can. Only you can decide for yourself what suits your creative workflow. For starters, here's a few videos that come to mind:

Sounds like CPU shortage, but it’s not.

Well, look at the tabs on LatencyMon, and select the "Drivers" tab. That will list all the running drivers and their highest execution times, DPC's etc. Try to share that here. Here are my screenshots showing a normal LatencyMon test result. -
I would stick with Cakewalk if what you intend to do is straight up instrument recording. It's perfect for recording and mixing. Tracktion doesn't intend their DAW to be a recording studio for engineers. They have stated that they aren't trying to compete with that. Waveform is intended to be a place for modern musicians to write music and to be a fun and creative place to do so. So think of it as a potential secondary DAW if you have the time to learn both.

Old Skool! LOL!!! But seriously, could you imagine if Amadeus were here today, what he would do with our modern tools? ?

Hot damn! I'd be all over that deal if I didn't already have AL V.

Unfortunately, some laptops have DPC issues no matter what audio interface is connected. But the laptop itself might be OK. But to avoid more frustration, I would invest in a currently supported interface with factory ASIO support (that particular Alesis model was discontinued). DPC issues are often driver related. Not always the audio driver, because it could be any driver running on the PC. -
Say no to WUP! Just move your Waves license storage onto a USB flash drive. See Waves Central to make that happen. Then your plugins are automatically authorized on any computer you plug that into. Just install your plugins on as many computers as you like, then move the USB flash drive as needed. But if you run two computers at the same time, you will need a 2nd license.

Nice! I already have a couple of Waves "OneKnob" plugins that I picked up as freebies. Might as well keep collecting them! ? This is perfect therapy for a plugin addict! ?

Seems that a few others had stuck note issues in Studio One, using an earlier release of Scaler 2. Nothing definitive was ever found, but there's a few things to try. Amazon brand guitar strings? Whats next, AMZ DAW?
abacab replied to Clovis Ramsay's topic in The Coffee House
Dunno. Have you ever broken a bass guitar string? -
Try Waveform Free. https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-compare-versions Then you be the judge. The free version includes the MIDI pattern generators, which are helpful for creating new patterns in a chord progression. Waveform Pro has many more add-on features than the free version, but Pro is the same core DAW as Free. Plenty to help you decide! But you might be interested in the integrated multi-sampler and drum sampler that Waveform Pro has. Cakewalk still has not added those features.

Are they internet connected so that they can order replacement strings, as needed? -
Sounds like a pretty good deal! You get 2000 sounds included with AL V. Includes sounds from each of the V collection of vintage instruments, which also includes these keyboard instruments (synthesizers not listed here, as you've probably already heard of them): B3 Clavinet Farfisa Mellotron Piano Grand Piano Upright Solina Stage-73 VOX Continental Wurli https://www.arturia.com/products/analog-classics/analoglab-v/overview

It's your PC.

If all you need is a fingered 4-string P-Bass sound, the free Ample P-Bass (virtual instrument plugin) that was mentioned earlier is great. Sounds just like my real Fender P-Bass, but never needs new strings, and always stays in tune! LOL! ? Just plug in your MIDI keyboard, and play away! For free, it's great! Although there are many other options if you want to spend money. I agree on the IK MODO Bass for versatility in that regard. And I just downloaded, but have not tried yet, the free Spitfire Labs Bass Guitar. It will be interesting to see what it's got... Edit: Just tried the Spitfire Bass. It's pretty laid back and dull sounding. Might be cool on some quiet tracks. But I think the Ample P-Bass kicks it's tail.

What host are you using it in? Could be an issue there.
-
For that you may wish to add Eventide's Blackhole and/or Shimmerverb. On sale elsewhere. Larry's got yer back, LOL!
-
I think that I've finally narrowed my plugin collection down to a nice round number. When I started Cakewalk today, the plugin scanner said I only have 100 plugins now... ? Whooops! Misread that earlier... it's actually 1000 plugins. ?
-
Is WUP included? ?
-
Yes, this is a well thought out tool! It's quick to use, and the controls are simplified. ? If there is something that needs adjustment that this doesn't seem to cover, you can always whup out a T-RackS module for that.
-
I also have T-RackS 5 MAX, and Amplitube 4 MAX, but I don't necessarily view this MixBox as a huge overlap or duplication. This thing is great if you use a lot of virtual instruments! Just slap it on an insert, and your synth has a brand new FX section with 70 FX processors! ? This rack was patterned after the FX rack originally designed for Syntronik and SampleTank 4. Comes with many FX chain presets, and you can add your own, and recall them in any DAW, any synth, or any project. Grab this deal while you can!

BandLab by Amazon? -
Thanks for confirming that. ST4 (4.14) standalone seems to be fine here today. Dang Gremlins! Must have been the reboot I did this morning. What was weird is that MIDI-OX saw incoming MIDI data, and SampleTank3 standalone worked fine.
