  1. I kinda agree - although the GUI on the $$$ Spitfire Kontakt libraries is even worse in my view. It like a kontakt library from 10 years ago. Even most of the free libraries have better kontakt gui. it's a business model that seems to work for them though
  2. that's strange - I got the M1 update email the other day so I thought I'd see if there were updated versions for windows as I hadn't touched them in years. I downloaded the windows versions 'omnibus/universal' plugin installer and after the update/resinstall Cubase was still reporting the plugins on the same version ? IIRC it was 1.0.0.0 ? Maybe they just misreport their version to the host DAW ? I do know the mac versions have had an update. The documentation link on their download page is broken: https://mhsecure.com/metric_halo/support/downloads.html but this documentation last updated in 2013 - and the change logs are on the end of each PDF https://mhsecure.com/metric_halo/support/documentation.html FWIW no vst3 versions either
  3. I have a few of these that I picked up free or cheap over the years and I have to say that those 'sale' prices don't look good value to me. They haven't been updated in years and there are much better options available just sayin'
  4. I think it would be good if they gave us the choice but I don't have a problem with SOME of the installers....some are terrible of course. Eventide badly need one IMO - it's impossible to keep track of what's been updated. You have to go through the website and check version numbers off against what's installed. Lots of companies are like this. In this instance the initial problem wouldn't have been fixed by a manual installation...it was just some (more!) sloppy programming and testing by Spitfireaudio....and at their premium prices they really should do better (again IMO).
  5. I know it doesn't help but it worked ok here did you try a reinstall - I always find the Labs stuff needs installing twice before the Spitfire installer acknowledges it as being installed also check to see if the VST2/VST3 files (including 32bit ? why don't they allow us to choose?) are there.
  6. I'm sure you're not mediocre in any sense Larry but do I agree with everything else you say....as always I'm trying not to subscribe to Disney+ to watch the amazing looking "Get Back" but I bet you never hear them discussing 'value for money' during the entire 8 hours of the series.......although I do believe Zak Wyldd posts here under a pseudonym (Fleer possibly?) because he's desperate to save $50 on an IKM amp sim, he missed the Group Buy apparently.
  7. I remember when I was new to this whole 'deals' thing. I saw Waves Diamond bundle for sale reduced from about $2000 or something down to $300 and I thought AMAZING......I've learned a lot since then....mainly that it's not about the plugins/samples/daw but about the talent
  8. that Cremona stuff is amazing IMO I've only got a few Spitfire libraries and wouldn't describe them as value for money - plus some of them are still quite buggy - I've reported the bugs to support and been told 'we are committed to fixing bugs on all current products but we have no timeframe...etc.etc.etc' If money were no object I'd buy the lot but even heavily discounted I don't think they are great value ?
  9. I think that's still the full, undiscounted price of most of the PA / Waves plugins ....or $29.99 if you wait for a week or two.
  10. I know, and apologies I didn't mean to sound snarky ?️ What I meant is that we are living in a world where $700 for some mass market sampled sounds for 3rd party sample player is considered a good deal - it's a bit mind blowing when you take a step back.
  11. I know it's 2021 but $700 for three kontakt libraries (and a freebie) doesn't seem like a deal to me ? and that's half price............... (full kontact not required )
  12. yep - spitfire aren't the best 'source of truth' although cubase/nuendo look at the plugin ID and if you have vst2 AND vst3 installed of the SAME plugin it will prefer vst3 and hide the vst2 version from you...I'm assuming this is what Philip is saying is happening ?
  13. hi Larry, just working through the logic on this.... are you saying that: BBCSO core is cheaper if you have Discover ? (tick - done) The Ton is discounted if you have BBCSO core (it's £100 currently in the UK) ?
  14. it's confirmed that other products have similar issues so I'd be wary of updating any of the products that install VST3 plugins at this stage. and yes - pretty poor communication from Spitfire - would have been easy to send an email to customers...I suspect they won't want the support overhead during black friday .
  15. mine did that - but quit/relaunched and had 30 synth updates
  16. yes looks like it's synths only (no FX)
  17. run the (updated) Arturia Software Center EDIT as a bonus you get to spend the next 5 minutes clearing all the junk from your desktop....thanks Arturia
  18. interesting - I suspect the UUID of the VST3 versions changed then. Don't have a backup of the .vst3 files unfortunately. oh well. you'd think that Spitfire being such $$$$$$ premium libraries they'd test this slightly better. I mean this was obvious immediately when I started the DAW.
  19. ALL these reverbs are amazing also remember the loyalty discount so IF you are thinking of buying more than one then it's possible that it will be cheaper to buy them 'sequentially' to get the discount on the next purchase.
  20. interestingly (to me !) there were updates to the Originals plugins when I looked in the spitfire app. These installed new vst2/vst3 versions and cubase now thinks these are 'different' plugins so I wonder if they have messed up the UUID here too ?
  21. I do love the usual PA technique..... ANY plugin (terms and conditions apply - not ANY plugin)
  22. thanks Matthew - tried that but no luck It does seem odd that you can't download updates or bug fixes .I'm not sure any of the other software vendors have this policy.....? but it's those little things that make IKM 'special'. Nobody buys IKM because they like the business model I wonder if IKMs new owners (when the deal goes through) will find some similar small print in their contract ?
  23. we have: A Product Manager 2 versions of the custom shop an older authorisation manager (that I had to use during the recent GB) so plenty of 'management' going on Plus I've just been hit by the BUY YOUR OWN DOWNLOAD 'bug' - there's an update to one of the syntronik libraries I have but I have to pay to download it...think I'll pass
