the drum parts, i've been thinking, there are a couple of areas where i can simplify the drum parts, and it will still work as designed.. so i'm going to edit the drum parts in about 3-4 key places, and make those sections just 'straight drive' a bit...

ha, only problem with my taylor is, it's so big! it's bigger than i am! LOL but it has a lovely sound. i only ever use microphones to record my acoustics, and that can be problematic with this big auditorium sized box, it has a lot of lows. i have to watch out for proximity effect, and usually pull the microphone all the way up to the neck joint, or well past the sound hole.

HI ANDY thanks for listening to this one. i do a lot of acoustic guitars, but don't post a lot. there are no 12 strings, just my Taylor 414. i do higher voicings, and layer them, so i can get 'faux' 12 string sounds sometimes. i've got 3 rhythm parts going at the same time, and the 3rd one is doing high parts, i'm sure that's what you are hearing.

thanks for the comments, gary... mid harsh, i'm not getting any harsh at all on my playback, both loud and soft. but i don't want it harsh!! heheh... know you'll have me chasin' my tail. i'll hunt that harsh down and give it all night detention.

NOT WHAT i'm saying. and i'm not sure i can convey it any better to you. when i am talking about creativity, i'm typically talking about the ability to speak 'music'. not sounds, that falls under some other category. you want to have an ability to quickly translate want, to have. i've never heard a guitar sound like an iceberg. that just sounds juvenile. sounds, typically, are a different subject matter, than how to quickly change arrangements, key signatures, time signatures, and the like. these things you learn when you study music theory. understanding music theory, is like having open doors, vs something you have to find the key under the door mat. we're talking music theory here, not how to twiddle knobs to make stuff sound like icebergs, correct?

the ONLY time i've felt stiffled, while working on music with other musicians, is when i come across a situation where something needs to change, but i cannot converse with the other musician because of their LACK of understanding of theory. boom, brick wall. creativity stops.

hey bapu!! thanks man, you know, i agree with how live the drums come across.. but i only have an old 16 bit stereo file to work with here, that drum kit recording came from over 10 years ago, with a program i no longer have! oops so, it's a stereo file. the wider it goes, the more the room sound comes in.. i COULD collapse the left and right together down to mono, and minimize that snare sound, and room sound. hm... i DID remix the bass track, for some reason, probably trying out different bass parts and picking different 1st and 2nd halves, i have a different bass channel for the 2nd half. and even tho the wave forms look identical as far as peak goes, it is a weaker sounding track, for sure. both bass channels are mono, and both are going into a bass sub bus, so i went back to the 2nd bass part, and just re-eq'd and leveled it by ear, and that really fixed that 2nd half. i added waves BB Magma tubes plug, and saturated it a bit, and then added a touch of Rcomp at about 75 hz, and that seemed to round out that track to better match the 1st... good ears!

hey mark!! you are the only one who has listened, so i want to thank you for giving this one a chance... yes, 'depth', i worked on that quite a bit... the idea of a 'lost dream', i think it needs depth, to create that ambience, that volume of space... there is only one reverb bus used, and one long delay bus, so everything that needed 'space', has a little bit of one or both. except the drums, they only have some room mics, no verbs added to any of the drum tracks. for the guitar solos, i used my trusty Boss DD-200 with a 'shimmer' effect, so you hear this 'bloom' happen at the end of long sustained notes, almost sounds like a keyboard synth, but it's just the guitar.

the main solo in the middle, that is my newly built custom tele with the Fralin pickups in it... the solo tracks, it's just one long solo track, that i keep changing the pickup selector on at will, but landed on the P-92 for the entire solo, i thought it sounded SO good... also, i used the Boss DD-200 in stereo, printed my effects in live time, and used the 'shimmer' effect. but i mixed it down a bit on the pedal, so it would not be too obvious there are a few spots, where you can hear the swell ring out, but i was riding it on the volume knob to keep it from taking over... i just recorded all the solos this past weekend. catalpa tele, with maple neck and fralin pickups [url=https://postimg.cc/JDK3zfY5][img]https://i.postimg.cc/JDK3zfY5/tele-new.jpg[/img][/url]
