  1. dexter..... morgan.... brother sister, husband wife real life? LOL what a funky uptempo tune... it's a bit bright, but super clear recording. didn't care for the sound of the drum kit tho, the snare is a bit annoying, and cymbals a bit bright too... could be just the kit that's bugging me, but the bass line is so groovy, i tend to forget the snare. LOL, can you change the snare? and back off the cymbals a bit, they are splashy and you can hear the compression working. i watched all of 'dexter', and the season they tagged on years after the fact, i was a micheal hall fan from 'six feet under'
  2. love the intro... so slinky, catches my attention right away. the reason i like it so much, is BECAUSE it's lean! you can hear all the character of each instrument. dig it. nice mix. it'd be super cool, if you could find a way to put a vocal on top of it. in and around it. lean vocal. just like the music.
  3. Ha! Thanks Steve, yea, what else di you want! I kinda feel like the wah was invented for race songs....! LOL my first wah song i learned was white room", Which ain't really racy, but still pretty groovy!
  4. Thank you equality Glad you got to hear this one
  5. Leclerc pole. Home turf. Should be good!
  6. https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/track/bullet-train-to-monaco-2024 oh yea! the 2024 Formula One Monaco Grand Prix is this weekend!! this is my tribute to the event, and kind of a 'imaginary' trip to go see it. brand new updated mix and master. better than the 1st version. I imagine myself in Paris, and decide to go see the big Monaco Grand Prix. i get a ticket for boarding the 'bullet train' in paris, to cruise all the way to Nice Ville, grabbing a quick bus to Monaco. the music represents the ride on the train...The ride on the bullet train was intense, speeding along, going thru tunnels, making stops, starting back up, all the while i'm getting antsy and jacked up thinking about the race. finally, the train gets to the final station, and i'm stepping off the train as the song ends. oh yea if you are at all interested in the actual Grand Prix, here's a good link: https://www.formula1.com/
  7. hey freddy! thanks man, i was groovin' on that sustain tone, and it just made sense to let those notes 'hang out' there...
  8. yea, i've read the scheps interview somewhere, and yes, if you look at every PRO release in the last year, the numbers are typically half the dynamic range of -14!! LOL i'm typically getting about -10lufs max, with my limited skills, that's as far as i can take it without the compression and limiting messing with the balances. i listen to pro mixes at 6 and 7 DR, and it hurts my ears after one song. WTF
  9. hi steve! thanks for the listen... i try to make the mix as clear as possible. and when mastering, there is a point, where i'm pushing the compression, saturation, and limiting where it sounds 'dense' but not flattened and too thick, and that's the sound i'm going for. but mastering as hot as i am now, i still push well past the best 'dynamics' levels, which i find to be about -14lufs, and i'm pushing to about -10 lufs. so, maybe i could get it even cleaner, but it is a compromise between modern levels and pure aesthetics.
  10. i wasn't being mean. i was being helpful. there are only a few obvious answers here, and i offered a very realistic, and probably correct answer/opinion.
  11. for you, the best thing to do is to hire a proper pro studio, and do all your work there. otherwise, you have to invest time in learning a digital audio workstation. it's that simple.
  12. last bump on this one, then i've got some more new stuff!
  13. NICE COVER! keeps the original vibe/intensity the guitars blend nicely like the original mix... i don't care much for covers, as a general rule, but generally, i like all your covers!! LOL
  14. hi pascal! thanks for listening yea, i like joe quite a bit, but would never claim him as an influence, i was already playing quite a long time before he even hit the scene. i like his self entitled album 'joe satriani' probably the best of his whole catalog, with 'crystal planet' being my 2nd favorite. i cannot hear any yes in any of this composition, but it's cool that it has that effect on you, pulling something out of the grey membranes that hits that memory just so. and to be clear, i wrote this song about 6-7 years before Holdsworth died, so it was never intended to be a tribute in the 'classic' sense, it was really just about admiring his staying power against the onslaught of mediocrity that threatened his very artistry. he stuck to his guns. he had resolve.
  15. hi andy! thanks so much for the comments yes, heavy sustain. the mesa boogie mark IIb head, pushed with a Barber Direct Drive Super Sport was the chain for the solo tones. steve hackett is a great player, i've always loved his early stuff, and used to have his Voyage of the Acolyte on vinyl. interested player for sure!
  16. just posted an updated mix.
