i'm still refining this one, for an upcoming album of songs patterned after classic 70's rock tunes... i've taken the original arrangements, basic drum grooves and original tempos, of some of my favorite classic 70's rock tunes, and used that as the 'starting point' of a collection of songs i'm working on. it's a big experiment for me. this song, for example, is patterned after paul mccartney's WINGS song, "Junior's Farm". more than half of a 10 song future album, will have this treatment. these tunes will be vocal heavy, featuring harmonies and unison singing over guitar stuff. tho, the hardest part of writing this one, was coming up with modern sounding original rhythm guitar tracks, and not sounding like "juniors farm". LOL

dig this smooth slow groove there IS some low end mud somewhere, that could be cleaned up a bit if you are going to keep working it.. just depends on the playback system, i guess, if you put a spectrum meter on your bass track and find that one freq that sticks out most, you could put an active dynamic eq on it and probably solve that issue quick. i'd like to the vox hotter in the first verse, just to get hooked in quicker. dig the sustained guitar/synth parts in the backgrounds. cool tune. good work!

heh! well, i'll gladly pay you tuesday, for a hamburger today! ?

ha! thanks freddy! i try to write 'melodies' instead of riffs over rhythms when i do my instrumentals.. i want them to stand out, and stand up, and be strong enough lyrically (melodically) to be considered a real 'song'. using the new guitar, is the fun stuff.. looking at brand new tones i've never had before, its still a learning curve! so, thanks for the comments, more coming!

bumpin' for more listens

hey kevin! thanks for listening and commenting! yes, the tele def has a 'sound' that is it's own... i'm still getting used to it. it makes me play different. the tele, on this one, is handling all the guitar parts, so for the rhythms, i used a fender deluxe model for one, a vox ac30 model for another, then used the marshall plexi for the solo... the song itself, is the 3rd of a 3-song trilogy, inspired by Formula One racing... i'm doing final mixes on the other two now, and want to publish them altogether for sale as a EP (or individually) this song is kinda like an anthem, like you say... it is about the BIG celebration of the F1 Season Champion, from any team, any year.

my RME Babyface Pro has been rock solid for many years now. never an issue. great sounding neutral preamps.

yea, that F6 plug would be perfect for this.

LOTS OF GROOVES ARE SOLD... very few are exactly the bpm you want for a particular song... i'd suggest reading the manaul, watching tutorials on utoob, and going to the toontracks forum to ask specific questions. i always get my grooves to be exactly what meter i want, even if i start with a groove that's 30 bpm off the mark!
-
if you pull in loops that are 'close' to 132, and you set the mixer for 'follow host', it will lock into the BPM that you input as the tempo for the song. i'm speaking from superior drummer, but i imagine it's a similar control. also, i'm not talking about the SOLO program, i'm talking about opening an instance from inside of cakewalk.

i refer to the waves F6 plug, a brilliant plug, with multiple uses.

howdy andy! thanks so much for listening... it's one of those kind of songs that hopefully keeps you going thru the whole thing. kinda balances out my all instrumental stuff. and thanks about the voice, always working on it.

i use a dynamic eq as a de-esser. so nothing gets 'sucked' out that doesn't NEED to get sucked out. LOL
-
hi mark! thanks for listening! i was looking for a 'ear worm' that might stick. plus, i used BOTH my 'jezebels' for recording this one.
-
heh, it's probably a common complaint, people not liking their own voice. appreciate the comments

Thanks freeearcandy!

HEY THANKS for that, whoisp! don't really like my voice, but it's what i got. seems i like my masters better now that i'm not trying to win a volume war!! LOL, i just said F it.... i can make it loud as F, but i don't like the SOUND of it. in the long run, after i'm long gone, i'll want those mixes to stand up over time, and if they are harsh, and they make my ears tired after just a couple of songs, they wont stand that test. almost EVERY modern pro release disc (or files) i have now, wear my ears out after about 15 minutes, even if i turn it down. i listen to my old classic rock recordings from the 70's, they never do that. they were mastered for vinyl. they weren't so extreme, and not nearly so loud (cuz they couldn't be!)....i've learned my lesson. so i'm backing off!

hey tom! yea, the demo was real close, but not finished. i changed lots of things, but to the casual listener, it's probably not apparent. i liked the outcome of this one, think i'll do some more in this style. the arrangement roughly copied the arrangement of "Tumbling dice"
