"Dusty Old Thirty Threes" (Produced using Cakewalk by Bandlab)
treesha replied to Darryl Schmitz's topic in Songs
Thanks for the history lesson! I enjoyed the song and the very cool video. Had to chuckle at what I think was a nun in the middle of the dance. Sounds and looks very good, you really captured the mood and meaning. Been a while since I heard needle sounds. Great job -
My thoughts are this is good! Enjoying everything about it. I like how it moves. Nice vocal and backing vocals. Instrumentation goes well with the mood and lyrics. Best to you too!

Spacious jazzy very well done. Clever. Thought of Steely Dan at times and Zappa at others. Nice instrumentation, good playing. Mix sounds good.

One thing that can help sometimes is that I make a loop in the cakewalk timeline where the clip is, then apply melodyne, and sometimes it will open in the right place showing blobs.

I have studio 5 and do get the empty openings so I don’t think it’s fixed in 5. There have been posts about this before.
-
I've done it accidentally on the timeline, no idea how, oops

I enjoyed your work, sounds like you had some challenges! I like the mix of influences and the vibe. As for feelings you are interested in knowing about, I think the song expresses Grief. Passion. Sadness. Mystery. I saw on your bandcamp it says you are in Phoenix, did you lose everything in a AZ wildfire or a non-wildfire blaze? I’m outside Prescott and several years back I was mandatory evacuated from a close wildfire and on the run like they are doing in LA now. Fortunately, no homes were destroyed but it was traumatic in its own way to be threatened with total loss. Of course I made a song and art about it ha. Im sorry for what you experienced and enjoyed the art and music you made to process your feelings.

which version should I listen to?
-
This version sounds richer if I remember the first version correctly. Yes Kudos.

Nice rhythm and groove. Everything compliments each other. Solid backing vocals and guitar. Bass catchy. I really like it, its fun and sounds good, enjoyed it

Hi mark, Thanks for listening and your feedback. And the memories... yes punk, this song is about the only one or one of a few Ive ever written with this kind of energy. I meant it that way and glad it came thru that way. Glad to know you enjoyed it even in its angsti-ness, and it brought back memories of those crazy unique times. Cool. Treesha

Sounds good, clean mix. Enjoying the horns a lot. Nice choice of instruments. Nice mood. The lead vocal is a little off now and then, but sounds good otherwise. Mission accomplished!

Hi equality, I have no idea what is should be called either ha. I just picked rock. Thanks for listening and your feedback. Glad to know you think its original and interesting. As for the vocals, the lead is supposed to sound distorted and frustrated, and I liked the way the backing vocals sound in contrast and I did want that kind of contrast between the two. Thanks again, Treesha

Sounds good, pretty busy but you have it mixed well and its clear. I like the sounds you combined. Very good for a “ try”. There's always more to learn and experiment with. Have all the fun you can!

This is an old song from an old poem that I recently revisited. Probably the most I am very frustrated song I ever did. I used the old original lyrics recording melodyned to correct stuff, with some extra fx, and redid the rest of the parts. I used Ample SC, New Nation Blaque guitar, and Iron 2 for the rhythm guitar. I used Kontakt Abbey Road 60s Drums. A SampleTank 4 bass. I ai’d the art with a Microsoft thing. It looks like the area of Arizona I live near and love so I went with it. Hope I get some interesting feedback! Thanks, Treesha Here are the lyrics - They Lied Crucified, they lied No angel moves the boulder No resurrection no new direction Eclipse, the shadow doesn’t pass Darkness fills the weathered face No restoration no celebration Trapped Imprisoned ball and chain Survive on bread and water No thing obeys my orders Powerless Attempts are all in vain Defeated unsuccessful No acquisition no winning mission Wonder why wonder why Wonder why I wonder why Answers just become another Thing I do not have Why try why try I wonder why I wonder why Solutions just become another Thing I cannot do etc......

Well put together with an informal feeling. Nice playing. Miracles are good. Very nice.

I like the guitar work a lot. For me the vocals are a little low to understand for most of it. I think the remix is better. I like the odd things that come in. Interesting parts and different as you say. Good use of fx for atmospheres. Sounds sciency. I know about the seven sisters, maybe 2 of them fled?

Up fun song. Lots of story telling in there. Sounds great. It is a great time of year to go out and see lights in some places. Nice that you found the studio tapes.

I listened to the full version. It sounds good, lots of good playing and instrumentation. Good mix. Since the message is important, the vocals could come up just a bit more. Yes, so much trouble in the world.
