@Grem thanks for the comments. I am not that skilled to create such programming. These are midi based backing tracks. I am trying out new vocal styles for a new band I have just joined and I am making recordings so they can learn the songs. I will be putting quite a lot up to my soundcloud account. This is also a great way to enhance tracks and learn programming. Decided to concentrate on vocals and how to get them to fit in a mix. I believe that is one of the hardest things I find about mixing... getting that vocal sound. The problem with doing your own voice is that you sort of know it.. so very easy to miss pitch problems and also make yourself a little to loud. Been trying a new technique for me... play the song at really low volume and then bring in the vocal so I can just hear it.

HI guys. Thanks for the comments. I personally went with a reverb on this one as I thought it had that... dont know ... night/space type feel. My son has told me I am dated in 90's as I use a lot of plate. I backed off on the Your Man song though. So there is no misunderstanding... these last two songs I have have not programmed. (Im not that clever) ? They are midi based backing tracks... I am trying out new vocal styles for a new band I have joined. These are so the band can learn the songs and match my key I do have an Ovation 12 string.

Thanks for the comments guys. I think I have found my genre ? I did not play the steel guitar... midi generated. I recently bought a new Antelope Orion interface and a Drawmar monitor controller which is a huge improvement on my VS-700r The vocal take was done in one go.. no correction, no double track, no nothing except compression through SlateDigital Mix rack. My mic is a Michael Jolly modded Røde K2. learned also on my sons comment that I use a lot of plate (very 90's) this time there is only a small amount of reverb. Thanks for the comments on taking the vocal down a couple of db's, as myself when I printed it thought it should go down so its great conformation to know I'm improving.

@Lynn thank you for the suggestion. I have removed the reverb.

Hi John. Listened to your song. What is wrong with your vocal? Do you use compression... maybe that will help with dynamic range on the vocal. Its a very clever song...
-
I listened to it again Andy and I am so pleased @emeraldsoul got you to post it. Incredibly moving and beautiful song... WOW!
-
Hi John. I cant listen to the song as maybe you have removed it now. The thing is on these forums... sometimes we can be to nice. Others take constructive criticism hard while others do not. I personally would like people to rip my recordings to bits then I learn and improve. Regarding being nice etc. etc. You have really got to snap out of this and stop feeling sorry for yourself. You song writing and musical arrangement skills are good (better than mine) and so so what... you dont have the greatest voice on the planet... I don't like Bob Dylan think he sings for Sx@t.. but his writing skills are amazing, So put you songs back up and stop throwing your rattles out of the pram... people will be nervous to comment on your songs if they think that their comments will make you want to give up. Well there ya go... full barrel!!! Look forward to hearing more of your music. All said in love!! Gary

HI Lynn. It doesn't matter as long as you are happy with it!!! I have Focal Trio 6 Be monitors running of a Drawmer Monitor Controller. These pure beryllium inverted tweeters maybe are showing up to much!! AS I have stated... I love the song... great work!

Done and dusted. ?

Very nice. I always try and listen to the music before I watch the videos... just scroll down and then listen a second time. Your video gives the track great meaning

Nice, Little bits of ear candy flying all over the place.
-
Now that is beautiful song Andy

I really like this song.. as I have said before I love the vocals. Everyone paints a different picture... but that sound in the right speaker... not sure what it is sounds screechy and a little bit irritating to me. You have some amazing mixing skills Lynn,, I learn a lot listening to your tracks. Te Man from Uncle or a James Bond movie ?

Thanks for listening. I have just exported the song again and removed the first glitch. I will be adding a new mastered version soon... I've tried a professional guy and will let you all now when its done. Very exciting to see what a professional can do.
-
Yes I hear it now. But there are no switches... I think I have had this problem before when exporting... I think its the Sonarworks Plugin.
-
I didn't notice it when I exported the song.. Not sure if its Bandlab or Sonarworks that has done it!!!
-
I enjoyed that a lot. Well done... beautiful.

Nice composition: I can imagine it being played by a full orchestra for sure.

Nice song Lynn Vocals are Bob On.. as we say where I come from. Quite a lot of frequencies in there... I think you've done a grand job

I thought it was good too. Would like to know what they where singing about though... it could be anything ?

I agree about the intro being a little long... got impatient for when it was going to change. ? Today I bit the bullet and plugged in my new Orion Studio to my Focals. Some how I think it needs some sparkle/shimmer in the top end. Well done on your composition.
