Yes the worst one was IK media which was said to be a free VST etc. and they were not. They were all demos and I think it was a huge download. It was very invasive. They might make good products but I was so p---d at that I got rid of the works after only trying one. I love the companies that just give you the .dll and a library folder to drag and drop after you unzip. Then you just enter the serial number the first time you load it. That's seems like all any VST should need to do. Also Air forces you to install iLok which is also a PITA.

I just rebuilt a computer and as is my habit I do a few things before i INSTALL cBb. First like others here I have to install bits and pieces of my older Sonar installs so as to get the Goodies that came with them. And at this point I install the latest drivers for my Interface which is a Scarlett 6i6 in this case. I have done this same procedure many times as I think Cakewalk likes to find my ASIO device on installation. I then install CbB and first thing I do is check my Audio preferences. In the dozens of times I've been through this my Scarlett ( or others) have always been the only audio device and ASIO is up and running. I have never had to change driver modes from WASAPI. So I can only assume you opened Cakewalk at some point before you installed your drivers. But it still does not seem right you had to do this 3 times so another assumption is possibly you have not set USB power suspend to disabled in Power advanced options and the interface was not on line. @scook Yes possibly there are still some poorly written ASIO drivers ( like Creative) kicking around but I think we've come a long way in the last 5 or so years. Seems drivers overall have greatly improved. Both my Scarlett and Tascam drivers are now miles ahead of the original releases. If you remember the thread about testing your timing offset years ago, everyone who tried it had almost perfect results using ASIO. I can't remember someone testing that didn't and this sort of covered a lot of brands of interfaces. If the timing was out it was by a very tiny amount that would not have any impact on recording overdubs. Even iffy ASIO drivers performed better than none ASIO drivers. All cases of testing other modes , if you could, the timing was out by as much as a 1/8 note ( to use a well know reference ) so we collectively came to the conclusion that the recording timing offset was super important and people should be aware of this. That's why it's nasty when a generic ASIO driver takes over your Recording Latency dialog box and that's why I will continue to warn people of the downside of other driver modes. Often they are totally fine for everything but recording overdubs.

Only ASIO will report RTL correctly to Cakewalk. Even though WASAPI is your second best driver mode it will not sync overdubbed tracks. You don't believe me do a loopback test. You'll be fine once you install and use ASIO.

Ya, I love the way Air products sound and they are cheap on sale. But I have come to the conclusion the installer is broken. After rebuilding 2 computers this month that was the only product that is a huge time suck. It always looses the libraries. And if you dare to change the pathways forget it.

You don't mention which interface you are using which makes a big difference. The design and the ASIO drivers all contribute to Round Trip Latency. ( RTL) And if your System can't process the data because of DPC latency your audio engine with bog down when using super low buffer settings. So your Computers specs are also part of the equation. Then your OS and the millions of background tasks also hog DPC by constantly jumping into your buffers and kicking your audio out. To achieve super low RTL you need a top quality interface with real good ASIO drivers. A fast multi core computer The Computer needs to be optimized to death. Correctly set up your DAW by stripping down the project to bare bones while tracking with effects. Running Latency Monitor is a good place to start.

Here's a re mix using AD 2, Ample P Bass, Added TH3 to guitar track , Changed OOOs to a weird synth. Tried a new organ freebie Colla B3 1 OK I just tried again and it's working now cool Believer Johns.mp3

@abacab something happened to your MP3 it's playing garbled. I tried a few ways of playback. I've heard of issues with exporting MP 3 in Cakewalk. I always convert in Gold Wave.

Nobody else has this problem. Well the Bandlab assistant is a bit buggy, but example I just started fresh on a new build and it took all of 10 minutes including the Add ons. It took a lot longer to install all my old Sonar stuff using CCC and that was without downloading. I have those backed up and I just copy them into the CCC download folder before running the installs. A week ago I did the same thing from scratch and that was a slow computer but it didn't take long to install the basic CbB and goodies.

https://sites.google.com/view/cactus-studios/home I have 5 tutorials that cover everything to do with midi. Make sure you install the midi driver from Roland, don't use a generic windows driver. Make sure the Roland is checked under Preferences/ midi/ devices- Inputs On the midi track set the INPUT- make sure the Roland is the input device and choose OMNI The OUTPUT of the MIDI track needs to be set to the SI Piano and input echo on so you can hear it. The Si Piano OUTPUT need to be set to your master bus. Your Master Bus OUTPUT needs to be set to your audio interface. You can test the SI piano is outputting sound using the GUI interface.

This one is free but is not super detailed- https://www.voxengo.com/product/span/ This is the one I use now I paid for it to get the drag and drop feature which has paid for it self 10x over now https://youlean.co/youlean-loudness-meter/ When you say Export tracks do you mean you are exporting a mixdown of all tracks or just each track? This is a good tutorial

https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon You buffer setting is obviously set to low. I have to run a 256 with my Motu M4. I can get to 128 with my Scarlett but some projects with lots of goodies will crackle. And this is my Latency monitor report.

A # 1 cause of no sound can me your Master bus is sending to your digital outputs instead of the 1/2 analog outs. Check your master bus output. And make sure in all the pages of your Cakewalk Audio preferences that only your audio interface is checked and showing. Make sure your set for ASIO.

I think the reported issues were always Sound Blaster devices I think E mu was better quality hardware. My very first card was a Audigy II cost me $300 back in 2002. It was a great card for most applications and had a break out box with 1/4" jacks right there in a CD drive bay. Mostly I did a lot of work using Wave Lab for mastering and copying music. The midi never worked and in about 2004 I started to use Cakewalk and that was a train wreck. I ended up wasting months and months trying to get it to work. My tracks were visibly always out of sync to the midi backing tracks. It worked a little better using Asio4all. But I joined the Cakewalk forum and was educated to the evils of Creative drivers. I was not alone. I bought a M-audio Fast track pro and problem was solved so I could finally get some work done. Therefore, I always advise people who are fighting a losing battle with their audio system, be it an on board card or a older crappy interface, to stop wasting time and for $50 you can buy a modern, up to date, working interface. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UMC22--behringer-u-phoria-umc22-usb-audio-interface

And did you run Latency Monitor? this is important to do when having dropouts as it will narrow down the list of causes. There's no point randomly changing settings until you narrow it down. Example a week ago this topic came up and it was a Graphic card. Remove the graphic card and use on board video, DPC cut in half. Problem solved.

This is a new feature of Melodyne 5. It detects none musical audio and highlights it. You can delete it all with one mouse click. If your serious about cleaning up vocals or even guitar parts it is a good investment to upgrade from the demo supplied with CbB. I just got it for $99. On sale from a Black Friday through Boxing day sales. Always sign up for newsletters so you can watch for sales of any software your lusting after. And FYI Cakewalk has a "tool Copy" feature and if you add a wave editor to its list with @scook tool editor it will open any audio track in your wave editor automatically. You edit the track and then save it in the editor, when you put Cakewalk back in focus it will ask if you want to commit the changes. But Audacity is not really a wave editor so I don't think this works? There's a thread just a week ago about it. But I have added Gold Wave, Sound Forge and Wave Lab to my list. I probably will use Melodyne from now on.

Some interfaces companies are very focused on the status quo and do their testing on Pro tools and Logic etc. They also seem to write a Mac driver first. ? Anyhow when you shop for interface and you look on the website they often have a list of tested DAWS. Sometimes Cakewalk is not even on the list.

I looked on the web site and first dialogue box says End of service no support anymore. There is a W10 driver but it is from 2015 so windows update has probably trashed that. But through history Creative ASIO drivers have never work with Cakewalk. They are a deviated version of asio4all I think look at all the time you have already waisted.

Just to sort of show you why I'm bugging you to change I thought it would be fun to compare the difference between TTS-1 tracks and upgraded tracks. Below is the original midi file straight from my download folder. I opened it in Cakewalk which uses TTS-1 to play the file. I had to move the snare track from B2 to where it belongs in D2 but otherwise didn't touch nothing and exported it. I found my version and amazingly enough I hadn't really done much other than swap instruments , Tempo and key were the same. I opened a blank project and put mine version in Track 1 and the TTS-1 version in Track 2. I put the Youlean meter on the Master and adjusted so both were exact same level. I then automated crossfades between the 2 tracks at random. The MP3 file posted below starts with the TTS-1 . My track comes across as louder but honest, they were both showing same LUFs and close to clipping the track meters. The TTS-1 hit the red a few times. It's one of the reasons to use good instruments. They cut through a mix better. I used the following instruments; Bass - SI Bass Jazz patch with a few minor tweaks. SI Drums default but I add a little compression using only the GUI effects. Guitar is Strum Session shiny electric. I don't really like it and in my version I originally had muted it. The organ is a free download the Combo V and one of my favorites as it really captures that 60's combo sound. https://vst4free.com/plugin/1004/ I killed the vocal piano track too. So if anyone wants to try a shoot out grab the midi file and try your own upgrades. I'd like to hear what others come up with and what @Michael McBroom can do using the TTS_1 I'm sure you can make it better than the version I used. Where's @CJ Jacobson when we need him. Like me he'll tell you to toss that thing out. Long history of bad drivers that never work well with Cakewalk. I speak from personal experience. ASIO drivers are the heart of a well performing DAW system. Only use audio interfaces that are from trusted and proven brand names like Focusrite, Tascam, Motu, RME etc.

High Definition Audio Device disconnected from system
John Vere replied to tdehan's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
What I'm seeing is you have 2 ASIO drivers. What ever that Real Route driver is should be removed. Looks like a generic driver possibly something to do with installing Reaper? Make sure the recording Latency device shows your proper ASIO interface. You should see no other ASIO devices except your interface in the Audio menus. And for me my interface is the default device when attached. I have no problem playing videos etc. The OP issue is most likely caused by a rouge ASIO driver taking control. This is a quote from @scook in another thread. Go to the registry and delete all other drivers but your audio interfaces. ASIO4All or any generic "ASIO" driver can be a problem when a real ASIO driver is present. There should be at most one ASIO driver for each audio interface attached. CbB looks in the registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO for installed ASIO drivers. -
Cakewalk crashes when opening projects
John Vere replied to Sergio Miranda's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Did you try safe mode? That’s the best way to see if it was a plug in. If it is then often Cakewalk team will contact the vendor and they can work it out -
No sound out of Studio Instruments plug-in
John Vere replied to Brunodonkey's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
First the instrument track output needs to be set to your master bus Your master bus needs to be set to your audio interface or if using on board sound to Speakers you should see the track meters move as well as the master in my signature is a link to tutorials on this topic- 4 replies

Where is output 2 setting for my Steinberg Interface?
John Vere replied to RICHARD HUTCHINS's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
All interfaces report to Cakewalk the same the input that says left is one the input that says right is 2. Set up your tracks with the correct settings and save them as track templates it will save you a lot of time -
What he said this is important Asio4all has been known to invade you real ASIO drivers territory. You’ll need to completely remove it including in the registry. My son in law has a solo and a very slow old laptop and we run it at 256 buffer with no issues. Do not turn on input echo use the direct monitoring feature.
