  1. Please start your own thread. It's confusing and people have to read 2 pages of junk to find your question. This was a totally dead thread were the OP never even answered. Updated note link in above post is now dead use this
  2. You say you’re not rendering I was told that it’s best to render each clip when finished. if your not sure your finished you can always go back to a safety copy or just re open the clip
  3. My original involvement with the Cakewalk forum was to ask questions as I was learning. At some point you become smart enough to answer questions. I owe 99% of my proficiency at Cake to reading the old form. Not so much of that happens here anymore
  4. Don't worry, I only go there with Popcorn already made.
  5. Oh well. Thought this might be the case. There's always Gear Slutz if you can handle the abuse.
  6. Yes this is just like Bandlab app as compared to Cakewalk.. Totally different market. In my family there are a few young teenagers just discovering music creation using these "APPS" one could argue that they are just creating more of the same stuff that seems to have flooded the world of music. They use pre created loops and then for the most part RAPP over this into their cell phones and then lord help us, they post it to you tube. A friend just stopped by yesterday ( one of the few who is allowed) and was all excited because her grandson and friend had posted one of these you tubes. It was terrible in every way a home made video could be terrible. But to her the grandson might as well have been a super star. The artistic equivalent of Googling a picture, printing it, and telling everyone this is your picture you "made". Anyhow as long as they stay away from my DAW all is good.
  7. I don't often wander around the forum site but the main pages are real boring now. Same stupid questions over and over. It's great to help people who are truly stuck, but most of these people seem to think for themselves. 99% of the questions are easily Googled. One thing I just noticed as I answered a post here about a dead laptop, is we no longer have a Hardware Forum? That was one of my favorites on the old site. Any of you old Hosts, I know that you are all hiding down here-- have any pull around here and can see if we could bring back the Hardware sub forum?
  8. Don't toss out a perfectly good laptop. This is super easy to fix with minimal tech skills. If it's the SSD drive. Just open the back and swap out for a new one. Go to here https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10 Use the tool to create a USB flash drive on a different computer and use it to install Windows on the laptop. It should automatically start the install when you turn the laptop on with the blank SSD drive and the usb plugged in. When it askes for a License say you don't have one. This is important. Then MS will use the original license that came with the laptop even if that was W7 still. I just did this a few weeks ago. Regarding the old drive and the data, if you order one of these- https://www.amazon.ca/CableCreation-22pin-Power-Adapter-Driver/dp/B01ESJS36Q/ref=asc_df_B01ESJS36Q/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=335024094888&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14340770628949613721&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1001901&hvtargid=pla-611589196453&psc=1 You might get lucky and the data on the disk is still retrievable. I sure hope you have back ups of your important stuff.
  9. That was in my first reply in the duplicate thread that you posted. You should carefully read what people say in reply’s as that was a few days ago.
  10. What he said. You should only have 3 or 4 scan paths so just go to them and look and delete it
  11. Working with live audio for 2 decades doesn’t always qualify a person for pro sound. I’ve seen this a lot in places like churches where some pour dude got stuck with the sound system because he new how to plug stuff in. The musicians would be complaining about how horrible the sound was in the church and ask me to come and troubleshoot. Things were all wrong from top to bottom. They had been buying things like 32 band EQ because the guy at the music store told them they needed this. Worse is the were sold a feedback destroyer. All stuff the pour volunteers had no clue about. Their education in audio was passed down from untrained volunteer to untrained volunteer And some had been doing it (wrong) for Yes. two decades. Anyone with any proper audio training who had never set up a computer and audio interface before would have correctly set the recording level instantly. They probably Read The Instructions cause that’s what proper training teaches you
  12. I tried the demos of all of them and ended up making my own and use Session Drummer to play them. As said all of the samples were hits and I wanted drags and swish. The best brush hit is found in the lowly TTS-1
  13. I think what you are experiencing is a badly written ASIO driver. Did you look this up on user forums like Gear Slutz? Some of the historically worst drivers have been the ones that come with certain brands of mixers. For good performance best to use a well know popular audio interface like Focusrite, Tascam, Steinberg, Motu etc. Most of us have buffers set at the most at 128 or 256 and RTL around 7 -11 ms. You really should not use WDM mode if your overdubbing if you want tracks in sync.

    Merge project

Mix recall can be used if both projects are identical in structure. Like as in a bunch of live band recordings. I did this a long time ago and it worked. it involves copying the mix recall file from the first song folder by opening it in the browser and I think you just drag and drop into the second song. If the project is different then your best course of action is using track templates.
  15. Best you start your own thread People waist time might not realize that this is an old thread
  16. Nobody else has your problem. We do all this using the smart tool one handed. The other hand is needed to hold the beer mug
  17. Not sure how you tested you don't say. Did you use a loop back test? https://oblique-audio.com/rtl-utility.php This utility can be used to see if Cakewalks report matches correctly. It's a good idea if your curious about this topic. Generally 99% of the time with a good ASIO driver you will find the timing is almost right on. Close enough to not be an issue. Down to the sample level. But when I tested other driver modes sync was off by as much as a 1/4 note. MME mode is the worst. This is why ASIO is important to overdubbing audio. Nothing else will be accurate. Its all about the driver reporting correctly to the DAW so the DAW can adjust playback and recording sync. But if your finding an issue this would be a huge problem that the Staff at Cakewalk would need to deal with. I've got to go to work but tonight I'll post a loopback test to show you what I do to test. I have 4 ASIO audio interfaces including a brand new Motu so I was going to do this anyhow.
  18. It is the top version which was Platinum. Only difference is it doesn't come with the 3rd party stuff anymore. Only SI Instruments and TTS-1. But not a problem if you know where to go for plug ins.
  19. No DAW is perfect. And most free DAW's are a huge waist of time because they are very limited in features. Cakewalk is a $500 DAW that the new owners just happen to feel like giving away with very few strings attached. And a big plus is real good support. Both from Staff and from the Community here.
  20. It at the top of this page in the menu I’m real old guy and I have no problem using the internet ?
  21. This is covered in the documentation. It’s well worth the time to read this as it can make you workflow better
  22. You should start your own thread it confusing to hijack with different issues
  23. OK if that's all you want to do I find the good old fashioned SPLIT/ MOVE works great. I take the offending chord ( or whatever) I split it top and tail. Turn snap off, and drag it to the correct placement. Cakewalk will automatically crossfade so I don't normally get any glitches. 2021-02-11 19-07-22.mkv
