  1. I was wondering about re rendering a clip, so what I have done is delete the clip I had already rendered and then Copy /Paste from the safety copy of that clip into the working track. I always copy the track and put it below the working copy. It's also handy to see what kinda mess you made of the original.
  2. And to answer your OT question, Your settings are fine. Other than the mono issue. Your computer is a bit behind the times and could use a SSD drive and some more RAM to perk it up. Just listened to your song and ran some diagnostics on it. First the distortion is probably the excessive low end on your vocal mike. There is a lot of mike noise in the low end. Hi pass the vocal track. There's even some banging and mechanical noise like your hitting the mike or the stand. You'll need to use automation or clip trimming to get rid of the noises as well as using hi pass EQ. Look at picture 2021-02-04 this is before you started singing. The second picture is while song is playing. Possibly your monitoring system is to blame. I took a few screen shots running Span to show you the problem. Your overall mix comes out in the ballpark. And then your master is Mono? and there is too much space at the start and over 4 minutes of silence at end. It looks like your going to need some help with mastering as well.
  3. First may I ask why you using a outdated version of Cakewalk when the latest version is free? This alone will help because the improvements are huge since X1. X1 was considered the worst version in the last 20 years As far as achieving results the sound like hit records made be professionals in million dollar studios that’s a lifetime quest Try watching some of the many videos. The ones by Creative Sauce are real good at this. And the folks here on this forum can also help but it’s better to ask a specific question about one issue than a general one But real hard to help when you using software we all left behind years ago. Go ahead and update first it will still keep X1 as you learn about Cakewalk by Bandlab
  4. Don't attempt to open a large section of a track. Keep the clips 4 measures long and see what happens.
  5. You should "render" the clips as advised by the Cakewalk team. I used to bounce but now I render.
  6. Oh, well then that is not the issue, Sonitus are very stable with Cakewalk so that shouldn't make a difference. So much for that idea. I'm mostly trying to focus on why Cakewalk would crash on you. Over compressing and distorted sounds don't crash Cakewalk, They just suck. Run Latency Monitor and lets see what's going on in the background. A peak level should not crash Cakewalk. https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon
  7. Yes this method has become well know as there are dozens of threads regarding issues with updating the assistant. The auto update rarely works. Also look in the system tray and you'll often find the assistant is already running. Open Task manager and kill it before updating.
  8. Don't think it's possible without a interface with Loopback function. This is why that feature exists. I used to be able to do this with a Creative SB Audigy PCI card. It had the "What you hear" option as input. Never used it with Cakewalk but it worked in Wave Lab. Why don't you just drag and drop the movie from media file browser into an audio track?
  9. Yes after you update CbB you can remove the Assistant. But you will need it installed next time you update. Even though we now update from CbB the Assistant needs to be there still

    Reading old .WRK files

Ya hope that works. As I said I’d save them as midi files because those can be opened by any DAW. That will give you the tempo and possibly other midi instruments. You should be able to Open them on your Mac Daw and drop the audio in there to re build
  11. I made it for our good buddy Michael. Look for the misbehaving midi thread

    Reading old .WRK files

I do believe that the Mac version was a total flop. People use something called boot camp to run Cakewalk on Macs. You should be able to open WRK and Bun files in CbB and then from that you can save the files as midi or CWP Bun files are often reported to become corrupted and not a safe way to archive projects. https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035040954-Cannot-Open-a-Project#:~:text=Cakewalk by BandLab can open Cakewalk Project Files (.&text=bun)%2C and even pre-,a few things to consider.
  13. What reverb plug in as this is obviously the issue. Don't use it. If you want a good freebie try Acon Digital Verberate. https://acondigital.com/products/verberate/ If Cakewalk freezes up 99% of the time it's a 3rd party plug in.
  14. First the obvious. Make sure the track is not muted. Make sure the meters are set for 60db See my screenshot- Make sure ALL is checked Turn up the faders. Are the waveforms showing in the track pane?
  15. I basically suck at video production. I plan on getting better at this and it's sort of a fun project. I just started a year ago and haven't had much time to learn Vegas like I know Cakewalk. I was just trying the fast forward trick as I see this often in tutorials to shorten the length. But mine isn't really working the way I hoped. I'm better off just stopping and restarting after those boring parts where I'm doing the obvious. But then you never know some of the actions we think are obvious are the exact thing a new comer was looking for. It was over 24 minutes originally. I will try and cut some stuff out as I agree 17 min is still long for a tutorial. I think I'll cut it into 2 parts. The Multi channel and then the Drums. If anyone has info on proper fast motion in Vegas( Movie Studio Platinum 17 ) It would be nice. The videos I found looked old. I actually learn something about Cakewalk every time I make a video as I explore the options from a new comers perspective. And much easier to point someone at a video than explaining the same things over and over on the forum.
  16. You don't need asio4all anymore. WASAPI does a great job without being invasive like asio4all is. It's not so bad if you don't use a proper interface but if like me you might need to switch between using an ASIO interface and onboard sound sometimes, asio4all will mess things up big time. W10 and WASAPI is real stable. Warning- do not use anything but a proper interface and ASIO for recording audio overdubs. Your sync/timing will be off. Asio4all is obsolete.
  17. Good Call and good eyesight @Steev I didn't catch that one regarding the projects sample rate. And notice the 16 bit too. So lot's of issues going on here. I think the best corse of action is for the OP to dig in and do a little tutorial watching. First on how to set up a DAW properly with your audio interface and second an Ez drummer video. This old thread has a few links to tutorials plus other info. https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+use+ezdrummer+in+cakewalk&rlz=1C1UEAD_enCA936CA936&oq=using+ezdrummer+in+Cakewa&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0i22i30j0i390l5.21434j1j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_PYIZYJXpOcTY-wT42a3YBA16
  18. Removed for updating sorry for the inconvenience.
  19. Your using ASIO 4 all?? I wouldn't expect studio quality sound from that. Are you not using an audio interface? Your workflow seems very strange? The midi file plays the vst drums. The VST instrument is in a audio track , There is no reason to "record" the VST. Nobody needs to bounce instruments anymore unless your computer is 10 years old or something. When you export a song the audio output from any VST instrument is treated exactly the same as a audio track of a guitar or vocals. Why are you using a ridiculously high sample rate? That's asking for trouble too. 48 is all anybody really needs but if you think your fans will notice while listening to the MP3 on $10 ear buds-- then 96 is more or less way out there. But I wouldn't attempt that on a system without a good interface and ASIO driver. Asio4all is not really ASIO, it just pretends to be. Its a wrapper for WDM mode.
  20. I find it best to work with short clips. max 4 bars long. Then everything fits the screen and my CPU doesn't freak out. I edit and then render immediately. The original un edited clips are safe in a second safety track.
  21. What happens when you delete that Normal from the event list. My guess is it will now work. I've never used that event. You set the Bank to NONE in the inspector. Choose a patch and it should work. Works for me on Yamaha, Roland and Korg outboard synths.
  22. I think he made this mistake by shopping for a mobo with the pci slot. They are hard to find But at least it’s a fresh clean install and overall will run faster with the SSD drive alone Michael one small word of advice if I may Do not install any 3rd party plug ins until the day you need them I just redid 2 computers and life is so much better on a clean machine you’re going to enjoy your new ride . When I find I need the VST I can pull it in a few seconds from my backup files or for some I go directly to the web site to grab updates And for the most part avoid installing any 32 bit version of any plug in I uncheck all but the 64 VST versions
  23. Just looking at your screen shot Is it the vibraphone patch you wanted? And what does the “normal “ patch mean. It should be a number did you type that in? So what I’m seeing is 2 conflicting PG messages.
  24. @Kurre Told you this in his 1. reply. That’s why it’s called the plug in manager Cakewalk has confused the interface by making you use 2 places now Most tasks can be done in preferences but a few things still are easier done in the manager
