  1. I think it’s more of an issue for people who use the notation. I
  2. Latency is not an issue with any interfaces unless you use guitar sims. You use direct monitoring and then there’s no latency. As long as they supply up to date ASIO drivers you’ll be fine. I bought a Soundcraft signature 10 and the USB connection is broken after only 2 years. I’ll never buy that brand again. aband I was in bought a Yamaha 16 channel mixer and it was much better quality to me
  3. You can click anywhere on the timeline but if you have snap on it might move that to the next point on you grid settings
  4. I just tried this and my stereo tracks certainly can be panned. It's not a normal thing to do and a topic of much discussion here. Generally it's best to create 2 mono tracks and work with those.

    Midi won't play

You always OPEN a midi file. Import is for short clips. Make sure nothing is selected in preferences/midi/devices/output and the file will open with the TTS1 In my signature is a link to all my Cakewalk videos. This one here explains what your hoping to do.
  6. I just made this because someone else was having similar issues. This covers all the basics of setting up midi VST and tracks as well as hooking up a controller to trigger them. Oh and by the way, Not sure what the VST drummer Rock SOngs is that sounds more like a midi loop collections, But Addictive drums is great, You can get the free demo that is only missing the toms. SI drums, for the money, is also very good and is included with Cakewalk if you download the additional stuff..
  7. I got so pea-d at that stupid setting that I went in to the Track Control Options using " Select All Controls" checked everything for all the settings.. No more missing features when I open a old project or basic template. They all look the same now And then my meters went horizontal on me and that took a few minutes to find that setting! None of this seems to be part of Workspaces.
  8. I have lots of those and for that reason I keep a copy of 8.5 on my system, but it's been a long time since I had an issue. Because those plug ins are not in the scan path Cakewalk just opens and they are all marked. I just replace them which is something I would have done anyhow. If it's a weird instrument then I find a new weird instrument. Only one I miss was called Warp delay. It was an important part of this song I never finished. It shows on KVR https://www.kvraudio.com/product/2warpdelay_by_mutagene But the company seems to have disappeared and all links are dead ends. If anybody has this I would love to hear from you.
  9. I have use a 2008 Duo core Sony Laptop with 4GB RAM and a 120 SSD drive to record 16 tracks of live band four times 45 -60 min sets. Probably have 100 hours of this and it never once failed me. That was using a very basic Tascam us1641 and sometimes in WDM mode so I could add 2 more tracks from a Yamaha USB mixer. That's not even close to what you did but I think you can push a bog standard USB interface past 40 tracks or so at 44.1/24
  10. That's an odd request? No you cannot save preferences per project. I don't think anybody has ever ask that question before so you have my curiosity. . Could you explain why and possibly there's another solution to what your trying to accomplish.
  11. You should avoid 32 but plug ins. It’s a 64 bit world now. Only use with caution and if you do get crashes then move on to a different plug in. There’s millions of them. The only 32 bit VST I can still use is Mr Tramp. The rest in my collection I have deleted
  12. You moved a midi track into a instrument track. Insert a new midi track and move it there. Make sure the new track has its output set to the instrument you are using. And in the case of the tts1 you will also need to assign a new channel or it will play the original instrument.
  13. What was said about the bus power is the main difference. I bought a Motu M4 which stupid me, didn't listen to my own advice, and it is bus powered ONLY. No option for a wall wart. Sure enough I was having issue right away. Motu was quick to respond with a long list of computer tweaks we already mostly knew. But the main advice was that I need to purchase a PCIe USB 3 card to power it up with. ?? Hey you guys didn't say that in your adds-- "This interface doesn't come with a power supply or even a jack for one so plan on spending $30 to make it work on most systems." Even though my computer has 4 USB 3 jacks I need them for transfers etc. Apparently the M4 doesn't like to share so therefore a USB 3 PCie card.
  14. Is this related to all your other posts where this seems an ongoing issue for you? One thing comes to mind is a hidden tracks or buss. Open the track manager and look for hidden tracks. Another troubleshooting tip would be to bypass all effects in the control bar. mix module. If the issue goes away then it's defiantly created by an effect your using.
  15. You need to perform a loop back test Follow my instructions in the video I posted above. And download the RTL utility app this will give us some clue as to what is not right.
  16. Actually looking at your specs I'm wondering why you need to freeze anything? My computer is 1/4 or less the horsepower of yours and I have never had to freeze a synth? How many tracks you running? Is your CPU meter showing it's maxed out?
  17. Also I hope your using direct monitoring . Do not use the Input echo or you will hear the latency.
  18. The Bandlab Assistant continues to be an issue. Even though I'm used to it I often have to re try updates and uninstall and re- install the assistant most times. It must be developed by someone other than our Crack crew at Cakewalk because they would have fixed it long ago.
  19. I should have caught this earlier. You do not want to use internal sync. Not sure why that is working because technically it shouldn't. From the documentation- sync type. Select the sync type. The following sync types are supported: Internal Sync . Timing is determined by the clock on the computer motherboard. MIDI Sync . Timing is determined by the clock on an external MIDI device. SMPTE/MTC Sync . Timing is determined by a time code signal (in SMPTE or some other format) recorded on some external medium or generated and sent by Cakewalk. Audio Sync . Timing is determined by the clock on the computer’s audio interface. Here are some screen shots of what your audio preferences SHOULD look like. And you always use the audio sync because that is why we use ASIO drivers. Notice that the Focusrite MUST show as the Playback and timing master as well as for Recording Latency adjustment Device . I explain in detail in my Why ASIO is important video. I have a feeling it isn't your Focusrite being used for sync.
  20. Did you watch my tutorials? In my signature. If that doesn’t work let me know. But I cover most of your issues in the using on board sound video which I assume you must be using
  21. You have nothing to loose if you make a backup of the original
  22. Are you sure your in MME mode? That's not really supported anymore. My Motu only supports ASIO and WASAPI shared. It won't run in other modes. My Tascam will run in WDM. But if your using on board audio that's different. I prefer to set my interfaces in ASIO and just leave them alone. They seem to work in all situations. Movie Studio seems to prefer ASIO too. I can open the audio tracks in a wave editor which they also like asio mode. The only app that seems to bobm out is VLC player. I alway have to switch from default to Motu. Stupid thing is the Motu is the default and only audio device. All others are disabled.
  23. Did you watch my tutorials which are in my signature. I clearly explained all that you are trying to do. It’s a 5 part series all on my web site. https://sites.google.com/view/cactus-studios/cakewalk-videos - All the midi ones are worth watching even if I'm using a downloaded file. It’s been a month here I made you new tutorial, I was going to do this one someday anyhow.
