  1. On Board sound is what we call the computers audio system. WASAPI shared or Exclusive are the driver modes you use with On Board audio. If you have an Audio interface then you defiantly want to use the ASIO driver that comes with it. Your sample sound terrible mostly due to as far as I can tell a either cheesy VST piano or the fact it has way to much reverb on it. This whole thread most of what has been said was irrelevant. What @Will_Kaydo said was closest to the correct answer in the end. This is nothing to do with Export settings or Sound cards. If you don't already have it think about purchasing an audio interface and some good studio monitors. Or some good headphones.
  2. So look at your Latency results and what I see is 11.5 coming in and 5.2 going out. total of 16.7 which is too much to use Sims. You need to get it down below 5ms before you can play along without hearing a delay echo. 7ms max. 256 is a nice safe buffer and what I use all the time. And 17 ms RTL is exactly what I get from my Motu M4 so your device is on par. For using Sims you need to use as low a buffer as possible. start with 32 and see if your system can handle it. It will be up to your computer at this point.
  3. @Jim Fogle Thanks, Working on it. Stupid Google sites. You have to use Google drive which has no way of globally sharing.. can only share with people in your contact folder... so I'll try One drive. Update: I got it working with One Drive. I just found out I can log on as a Guest in Edge that way I can test it like a normal punter. One drive can be a working folder as I update the files. I'll put files in sub folders. There will be 2 main folders CWP files and MIDI files.
  4. https://sites.google.com/view/cactus-studios/home go to the Cakewalk CWP files tab or directly = https://sites.google.com/view/cactus-studios/cakewalk-cwp-files Please go to my web site for further info and updates. Feel free to ask questions here. Due to Covid I have more or less retired from playing at Dances and Parties. I have over 300 CWP backing tracks and 1,000's of midi files just sitting there going to waist and I thought.. Hey, I should share these with the Cakewalk community. So you guys can pick them over and put them to good use. These are a great starting point for new comers looking for simple stuff to learn on. I've put a lot of work into these and most are my own sequences. Some are downloads I worked over. These are "as is" right off my hard drive so most are not really optimized for public use just yet. You'll have to sort out the VST's etc. And a lot of my own midi files are not GM. If you have the older versions of Sonar then you should have everything. On my web page I put links on where to get all the free VST's I use. I have a lot more backing tracks but at this point they contain audio so over time I'll strip that out so the files are small. My retirement project will be to record the vocals and guitar parts to all 300 songs and overwhelm the song forum for a whole year.
  5. A lot of truth in this. Example we have a big chunk of people posting on the forum who don't even anti up for a basic necessity like an Audio interface. They might not even need a simple thing like a microphone because they are just "Makin' Beats" Beets They say 30 million but that does not actually mean " users of Cakewalk" . That would be more accurately stated as " registered users" As I said in my first post they can only gather that information from using the signing up for the account data. How many of those are actually using the software? Could be a low as Half of them . I am "signed up" for Harrison mix bus but I've never used it. I'm signed up for a lot of stuff I don't use. But I'm not trying to be negative at all, I'm am one big fan of what we have become in the last few years. Keep up the good work. I think Cakewalk will be come #1 if you guys stay on this same pathway. I think you'll eventually kill every little bug and even win the war of being stuck with an Audio unfriendly OS.
  6. Adding this Update 9 11 2023. ( just noticed the date) : I was researching the question "How many users does Cakewalk have?" and found this old thread. Lots of interesting comments including from Noel back then. Thought I'd re post it as it's was worth a re visit to me. I don't think this is close to being possible. The only way they can even guess is by counting the people who are now registered in Bandlab log in. But then out of those there are unknown numbers who created an account and never used the software. Actually the same account is also for the Bandlab app so even more complicated.
  7. See the Big red button? or Ctrl +R This will arm or unarm all tracks- I see a few people got this right. Tip of the day- Open the help module and point the mouse at everything in your workspace and take some time to learn what everything does you'll be amazed at how many cool features are right under your nose,,, like the big red button. If you don't have the mix module shown in my screen shot, add it by right clicking the control bar. Modules.
  8. It's sounds OK but the instruments seem too far back in the mix, not very punchy for rock. Possibly need to push the envelope with compression and limiting. And that piano glissando? is 2x louder than anything else it frightened my cat...
  9. I can can remove the link now if you think it's inappropriate to your thread. I just always think of that song when 7/8 time is mentioned.
  10. This is an easy one- You zoomed in, zoom back out. And by the way- Your master was clipping.

    Merge project

OK I think you just want to copy the midi data and the audio tracks from one project to the next? correct? If so just open both projects and copy paste the tracks from one to the other. If the tracks have effects and fancy routing- first save those as track templates and insert in the new project first. Then copy the data to those tracks. With audio you can also drag and drop it from the browser. Just browse to the audio folder of the original project.
  12. Nothing wrong with Steinberg stuff. They are with Yamaha my #1 pick for gear if I can afford it. Our band bought a Yamaha mixer with USB stereo output and I still have the Steinberg driver on my laptop. Worked every time. Not so with the next band we bought a Soundcraft and its driver says Harman. It broke after 1 year I think it's the connector. And why not use older interfaces if they still are supported.
  13. A question not asked yet is are you using on board audio? It would seem you are. If you are using an ASIO interface troubleshooting would be different. The Volume mixer really doesn't tell you anything other than the fact the application is outputting correctly to Windows sound. I posted screenshots of the output settings you should see Device properties/ additional device properties I explain this in the video but just in case you missed it. Notice the sample rate setting. Make sure this is all the same in all settings. Otherwise songs can play back slow.
  14. Install Audacity and play the file there. If your export settings are correct it will be identical. If it doesn’t then you not exporting correctly and we’ll fix that for you Other issues could be your not monitoring the same output buss your using for the export source. Example monitoring 3/4 output and export 1/2
  15. Just edit the topic mark it Please Delete and the mods will take care of it.
  16. You question was misleading. What you are asking then is how to make an imported clip match the tempo of a song. There are many tutorials that cover this topic Look for the one by Creative Sauce
  17. Once again the Bat never lets you down. I don't think I've ever heard a song you posted that didn't shine above the rest. Have you ever heard a song called 7/8 suite by KALEIDOSCOPE ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaleidoscope_(American_band) or maybe your part Greek. Kinda sucks that you can't post a like on Sound Cloud? I even have an account. I also notice that your also getting the Messages about " I can make you rich with this song " Crappe .
  18. I just tested my Motu and at this point I can't get it to do what I swear it was doing before? I think the USB 3 card and driver re install # 4 has totally solved all the weirdness I first experienced. Sorry that's not exactly your solution as your using a wall wart. I guess you could try driver re install # 4 My thoughts at this point is if it were me-- I'd send it back and exchange it for a Focusrite 8i6 or the Motu M4. Behringer? I guess they've come a long ways but I've never kept anything Behringer over time. I still have all my Yamaha, Roland, Korg, Yorkville, Mackie and yes Tascam gear. On my shiit list is Behringer and Soundcraft right now.
  19. @Stewart Cormack Did your watch the video? I posted it because I explain how to set up on board sound properly. I think you have enhancements on. I also explain how each on board system will be different. Groove Music is the very worst player on the planet. Use Windows Media player or VLC. Better yet do like I do and use a Wave editor to proof mixes. http://www.goldwave.ca/ https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ https://www.magix.com/ca/free-download/sound-forge-pro/ And You can most certainly change driver modes with a project open. You just cannot change sample rate. I would like a screen shot of that dialog you just posted. “(Close all projects to edit)”
  20. My 3 picks were the Tascam 4x4, The Motu M4 and Scarlet 4i4. The next jump was to the Focusrite 8i6. I do like the Motu now I fixed the playback issue by installing a PCIe USB 3 card. I would have rather it came with a power supply like the Tascam. I like the front panel meters and it certainly has a little lower RTL than my older interfaces but RTL doesn't really matter in my world. I don't use Guitar sims. Compared to my Scarlett 6i6 the motu is missing a lot of features. No SPDIF, only 1 headphone, no software mixer with optional routing. And worst of all the rear inputs 3/4 are almost useless.. There should have been a line/Instrument toggle and they seem to need a very hot signal from my mixer. Forget plugging a guitar into them. The 4i4 was just too much of a step backwards from a 6i6. And of all of them had the fewest features, The Tascam 4x4 was 3rd on my list was missing a lot of stuff compared to the Motu but it did have a power supply. . I really should have spent the extra cash and gotten the 8i6 but I sort of wanted to see if Motu brand actually are better. I say no. It's very Mac oriented. They don't even mention Cakewalk. And the freebies sucked compared to what Focusrite gives you. I will keep it as it's not hard to switch back to the 6i6 if I need the proper features. The internal loop back is a new one for me too. It's very straight forward. The Loopbacks show as inputs in Cakewalk. So anything coming out of your speakers can be sent to a track and recorded. Therefore easy to use for capturing direct from the internet etc. No use to me as I've always used a screen capture for that because I might also want the video portion too. . Cakewalk already has lots of options for routing so I don't see an advantage there. It does the popping your talking about when ever I change focus come to think of it. Not super loud but my Scarlett and Tascams have never done that. It's the same sound you get when you change sample rates. Now I think of it this might be your issue??? The drivers are fighting for sample rates between changing focus??
  21. I like my drums in one midi track and will only normally separate them later if using more than one VST to play them. I have 2 ways I can add fills. Most times I just draw them in PVR and make sure to delete conflicting parts. Much easier to do this in one track. If it's a fill that I can't figure out how to draw I might insert a new midi track and record it with my keyboard or digital drum kit. I can then either merge the 2 tracks but usually I just open the fill track and then holding ctrl ( or shift) open the original drums track from the right hand browser. This way I can see the fills overlaying the original ( or visa versa) and then delete stuff.
  22. I have an old Lifecam that I've used for years but was disappointed it won't run on w10. I tried everything. I was thinking of replacing it with something new. We need it for Zoom meetings etc. And I think with OBS you can do the little screen inside screen trick like in Mike's Videos ( creative Sauce) I think the resolution is depended on the quality of your video card. I just have on board video. Had to scrap my fancy Nvidia as they hog DPC latency and cause dropouts in Cakewalk. The highest setting for mine is 1920x1080. There's settings I don't understand so haven't tried like the Downscale filter and FPS value. Just ordered this https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiZr-CszpnvAhWhDa0GHUIYDEMYABAEGgJwdg&sig=AOD64_2C2UxiEl3RXdELrx35ul4puba5XQ&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwje5NqszpnvAhWYup4KHV-fD1QQ9aACegQIARBe&adurl=
