Open the help module and point the mouse on one it might tell you what they are. Personally I've never seen those. The new Tempo map?

OK I feel stupid. There's 2 places and I should know these things but I totally forgot about this preference dialog. Problem solved. @Hrabe EM @scook

This I think is an old bug with the playlist. I really tried hard a few years ago to make it work and funny things are I also wanted to use my MX 200 and possibly set up lights. I used to do this with my Atari! But I found the playlist buggy and it resulted in delays between most songs. I’m used to having no delay between songs and I use a USB foot switch to advance WinAmps playlist. But of course Win Amp cannot send midi. Otherwise I’m fine with stereo backing tracks. There was one user here who had successfully used it for years so try google to see if you can find Playlist threads from the older forum.

In my signature is a link to my tutorials and I have a whole series on using midi files.

Yes I understand, but I think the OP's mystery is why in the past they managed a higher bit depth and now they can't change it. I think it must be system related. As I just tried a few times to confirm. On my main DAW no problem recording 24 bit.. Same interface on my Laptop records at 16 bit. I confirmed this behavior by recording a short clip and then checked the bit depth. I also opened some older recordings and everything on my laptop is 16 bit and this was using both my Tascam and Scarlett interfaces. Everything,, thank goodness, on my main DAW is 24 bit and that's with 3 different interfaces. I just find it odd that you actually don't really have true control over such a basic function. Even my Yamaha 0v1 from 1996 uses 20 bit. I guess I'm guilty of not paying close attention to that setting. When it's greyed out I assumed it was still 24. The OP's claim of 32 bit is a bit of a mystery as I was unaware any interfaces have ever supported that.
-
Ok but then check this out, I turned off my Motu and plugged the Scarlet 6i6 into my main DAW and it does go to 24 bit?? Same interface, same settings. And these are all blank projects using a 4 track template.
-
I think your on to something ,, This is my Office desktop with a Realtech on board audio card.. You can see here that even though I selected 24 and APPLY, the project is still showing 16 I checked and my sound card is set to 24 as well. I opened a new template and it shows 16?? . But here is my Motu interface and you can see it only will record at 24 bit being it's only choice. It's greyed out? But it seems just fine. I then opened Cakewalk on my Laptop with my Scarlette 6i6 interface and it is the same as my Motu with 24 greyed out and Windows setting at 24 as well but the new template opens showing 16 as the project sample rate???

Playing music and Sonitus/Parametric Eq... not possible?
John Vere replied to Xogroroth's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
OK I did a google search for SEq and QEq and they don't show up as a Plug in or even anything at all. I can only assume by the short titles that they are Equalizer effect plug ins. I'm not sure where you got them from or what you are doing with them. The screen GIF video in my above post demonstrates a standard VST equalizer plug in VST which DO stay in place as you are after. . Cakewalk also has a very good Equalizer built into the pro Channel. I think you need to forget everything you did in Roxio and learn about how Cakewalk does things. -
Playing music and Sonitus/Parametric Eq... not possible?
John Vere replied to Xogroroth's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You can create custom templates and save them and this will do what you are asking about. You simply create your dream project and save it as a Template ( CWT ) file. Next time you start a fresh project open your template and everything that was part of your dream set up is there including any effects like 3EQ. You can also save track templates and have things like your 3EQ as part of that template. -
bug report MIDI input routing bug and virtual synths
John Vere replied to Ronny.G's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Simple instruments tracks have many pitfalls. This just came up yesterday where if you freeze a simple instrument track and it becomes stuck you loose the synth and your midi data. I have always used a midi track and I have never had routing issues for this reason. If I need to compress my tracks I use folders. My default track templates have folders for drums, piano and strings. -
Playing music and Sonitus/Parametric Eq... not possible?
John Vere replied to Xogroroth's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Well if Videos don't work for you then there's the 1,800 page documentation which you can search for topics. Just Google your question. And Cakewalk uses standard Windows system of opening dialog boxes. All the Plug in windows can also be "pinned" so they stay open even when not in focus. Cakewalk uses a Skylight interface where all your workspace modules can be customized and docked or undocked. You set it up the way you like it and save the "workspace" The other handy tool for beginners is open the Help module , go to Views to find it. When you hover the mouse over any part of the screen it will tell you what it is and if you click the "Learn More" button it will open further details. A VST is a Virtual instrument Cakewalk includes a lot of them. There are also VST effect Plug ins. You would have to read the documentation because nobody has the time to type out instructions that are easily available. Cakewalk is complicated and nothing will work the way you think it should work. You really have to spend time learning. Otherwise you'll be doing everything backwards. -

Vocals sound too quiet when I d things by the book!
John Vere replied to RICHARD HUTCHINS's topic in Production Techniques
I hope Richard is OK, he usually stays involved in his threads. If he come back I made him this tutorial. Well I was going to make it anyways but here it is. -
I'll just add that I used the Screen to GIF today and it's a keeper. Lots of options and pretty easy to edit. Thanks once again to S Cook.

Which metadata do you place inside MP3 when you output MP3?
John Vere replied to Konskoo's topic in General Music Discussion
Is there Meta data in my MP3's? I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know. I didn't put it there. ? -
Your midi data is still there. Just insert a new instance of the VST and change the output of the midi track to the new instance. To confirm this works I just tried this. The midi data track is not frozen, only the VST track. This is a big reason for not using Simple instrument tracks.

Yes putting a bug report here will do no good as they most likely won't see it. This defiantly goes in the Early access sub forum. You'll get a quick reply from one of the developers.

Playing music and Sonitus/Parametric Eq... not possible?
John Vere replied to Xogroroth's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Good luck at the hospital. Im not sure where your at but I highly recommend spending some time watching the tutorials Example there should be no issues with having any VST GUI open while playing a song and making adjustments. Go to the tutorials sub forum. I have made a bunch too that you’ll find in my signature Hope everything is well. -
Yes you can change the bit Depth As it is not the Bit or clock Rate which is harder to change. Bit depth just adds more blank zeros to the existing audio files. The quality doesn’t change. So no point in converting them. But if you are going to be adding more tracks then just change the setting to 24 or 32 and then carry on. The new recording will be higher quality. 24 is really all that is needed.

new to bandlab been using sonarx2 for many years
John Vere replied to dave mitchell's question in Q&A
A few things if I can ask- Did you also upgrade your Computer? Minimum requirements are things like 8 GB RAM and a nice SSD drive etc. And what audio interface are you using and does it have updated drivers for W10. Are those plug ins 64 bit? -
Distorted mic volume at 0 db input gain
John Vere replied to TJ Preach's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
To elaborate on what Dave has said the track meters will tell you what your recording level is. If your interface has meters as well, those in theory, should match what Cakewalk meters are showing -
How to process and route live input with Cakewalk
John Vere replied to Matthias Hewelt's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yes I have many times been in that situation where you are doing 2 mixes and cannot monitor the second mix other than headphones. I came very close to buying a mobile recording truck at that time. There was good money to be made recording live bands at venues and festivals. Of course that takes two people which is another option possibly for you. I never thought about how latency might be why my screen capture recordings are out of sync. Thanks for mentioning that. I use OBS and send Cakewalk in ASIO mode to it using the loop back feature of my Motu M4. I will look for the video delay option and I guess set it to my output latency which I think is 7ms. I mentioned the latency in that first post because I miss read what you were trying to do. I thought you were trying to use Cakewalk for live FOH processing
