If you even have a basic understanding of how a daw retrieves the audio playback data from your hardware you might expect it to freak out when you do that

The thing is that the majority of VST bass offerings are not traditional Fender P bass which is more or less what us old school jammers are used to. A lot of them I find absolutely terrible. Tts1 fingered bass is sort of an example of what I mean. Sounds like a tuned fart The Ample P bass was well done. I also use the Jazz bass patch in SI Bass with a compressor on it and that also comes close to the bass sound I’m used to hearing. I have a very good sounding bass rig with Yamaha bass and a Fender Rumble. But I only use that on real serious original tunes I’m trying to go for 1st class sound. Everything else I just record the bass direct with out fuss and convert to midi and use the Ample bass.

Dim Pro can be installed using the old Command Center system. You need to log on to your Gibson account etc. The other thing I know is you need to use “Run as Administrator “ When Gibson gave us the boot most made back up copies of all the Sonar files and installers by copying the Command Center download folder. Thus I haven’t needed to download for years now but I’m pretty sure the server is still there.

I think that might be the problem. You might want to see if there’s other users that got it to work with Cakewalk. Or see if there’s a forum for Alesis or just Google “ Does Alesis drum kit work with Cakewalk?” Cakewalk tends to be fussy about generic drivers. Probably they work for Mac and other daws but not Cakewalk. Try a different USB cable or port

You need to install the midi driver for the kit. Go to the web site and download the drivers.

The forum is full of old farts like us because forums are part of our era of the internet. My son laughs at my involvement on forums. His generation only uses forums as a tool or source of possible solutions to any issues they are having. Be it with a car or the refrigerator. They find the odd forum buy entering a Google search for an issue they have and mostly just looking. Google brings up a lot of hits that are forums. To actually join a forum you would need to be desperate for an answer. And many require a sign up process that you have to wait for a mod to approve. This forum I think your automatically signed into via the Assistant. We are told we have 1 million users now. Probably most of those are well under 40 years of age. Out of that we only have a few people who answer questions on the Q&A forum. The old farts.

I kept the original Hard drive that has Windows XP loaded for my Asus Netbook. I had upgraded to a SSD and W7 and upped the RAM to a whopping 4GB. But my Epson CD printer only has W XP drivers. So I just swap the drive back out and away I go. It still has Sonar 8.5 and X1 LE. And It will also run weird things like my old Microsoft Sidewinder Joystick and LIfe Cam. The other use I have for XP is to go super vintage and run STeam on it and load up old Atari software. With the joystick and the Steam emulator I can play old games like Buggy Boy or Tetrus. I can also run my original DrT Keyboard Controlled Sequencer software. I also keep an older desktop loaded with W7 and that way I can use stuff that was made for that era. More or less gathers dust but you never know!

Ya but will his overdubs be in sync with the prerecorded tracks? I doubt it. Sure the cable might “work” but will they be able to have trouble free performance?

What is your audio interface and what does the device in sync and caching show as. It’s important that you timing is controlled by your interface ASIO driver.

The video I posted has info about trouble shooting audio. Generally USB audio cables are a bad idea for Cakewalk because they don’t have a proper ASIO driver. You’re much better off taking the $12 the cable costs and put it towards a proper audio interface.

If you search there are plenty of threads on the topic of how to install the older versions to grab the goodies. There's even a document that list which versions came with what stuff. For me now it's mostly just run Command center and I have everything ( all the Sonar goodies) already downloaded to a folder I copy to the CCC download folder after I install CCC. Then the install goes very fast as it's not waiting to download anything. I could actually do this off line once CCC is authorized.

I have a Motu M4 and this often happens if my system was not shut down overnight and I think if I was using other audio apps. I just re boot the Motu and it goes away. I was hoping the new driver update would fix this. The Motu is not as stable as my Focusrite when it comes to using other apps that need to share the drivers

The same goes for all the official tutorial videos. They mostly are showing Sonar x2 What I really like is the Help Module. It would be nice if it included more of the little “ Learn More “ buttons. Those take you to the documentation page for each feature. Super friendly way to learn the software

I think it’s something like 1,000,000 of us now. We all switched when Sonar died. CbB is Sonar Platinum with all the bug fixes and updates. Installing it will not erase Splat so you can keep everything as it was and jump right into the new version. Myself I could never go back as there are way too many features I now depend on. And for me it is 100% more stable than ever. There is an offline activation system in place you can look for. Cakewalk will run with out the internet for about 6 months otherwise.

Yep. That’s why I asked for a screen shot. My first guess was Bandlab. You probably already installed the Bandlab assistant so go back to the App tab and download and install Cakewalk

You said you were having trouble finding information about the Focusrite products. That's why I said I find it odd that you would not simple enter a search for that and that their web site is top of the search. It's all good. You have a perfectly fine interface and now instructions on what to do with it. Get off of here and get to work

No. How many times does this need to be repeated? You install the ASIO driver. In Cakewalk you choose the ASIO driver. WASAPI is for on board audio and interfaces that didn't come with a driver. ( to be avoided)

I put this here because the title of the thread might spark interest in shopping for interfaces. You don't need one and you just need to download the drivers and follow the very clear instructions supplied by Focusrite.

I'm not sure what your using as an interface but if you read that post I clearly state ASIO mode for all audio interfaces. You don't use WASAPI for any interface that comes with a ASIO driver All audio will be handled by your interface.. And most manufactures of USB / ASIO audio interfaces all have very clear instructions on set up including lots of videos. @SS

Don’t feel so bad I’ve had Cakewalk videos posted for more than 3 years now an I only have about 60 subscriptions. If you look at you stats you can see that a lot of people will not watch a video all the way through. That tells me I didn’t hold their interest. Also it’s all about being the channel that shows up when someone does a search for “Cakewalk how to do x” My website is a Google site but Google can’t even find it. And not many people are coming here to this sub forum. If they were there would be almost nothing posted on Questions and Answers I started making my videos because I got tired of repeating the same answers over and over again on the forum. Now I just post the link and most times I get a positive response. But it good weather now so no time for indoor hobbies now.

You Open midi files. You only import midi clips. Tts1 will automatically load if you have nothing checked in your settings for midi device output min my signature is a link to my tutorials on basic midi set up and using tts1
